It looks awesome, but I probably wouldn't have led with this one.
Your making fun of there not being a building that tall in Harrisonburg. 135 feet is about 13.5 stories. Is there a building that tall or taller in Newark?

I won't be able to get the best pics of that as I'll be very top row below the press box on about the 40 yd line. People need people in/near the endzone or on the other side will have the best view of the streamers raining down from the 1st and 2nd deck after JMU TDs...

So JMU fans throw streamers after TD's? That's actually a good way of putting a cap on the amount of litter created from the streamers, because we all know the rate at which JMU scores TD's.

You guys should see if you could count the streamers as part of the attendance figure, along with the concession workers, security guards, media, both teams, Duke Dog, and Mickey and his ego. Heck, you guys could easily be past 30k once you factor in streamers. :thumb:

I know Old Dominion considered "inflating" the attendance figures like this as well. I asked "How can you do that?", and their reply was that a lot of schools do it. But after seeing the attendance figure from our opening game, they didn't go that route.

I counted 17 stories above ground, so I'm guessing about 170 ft. What building is that?
I have no idea what the tallest building is in Harrisonburg. Think the Courthouse and 1-2 others might be around 100 ft.

2010 census Harrisonburg is (I found this surprising) bigger than Newark. Shows Newark as 31,454, Harrisonburg as 48, 914 (up from 40k plus in 2000 census).

Yeah but the Newark "Metropolitan" area has a larger population, and a Walmart.

That's the East Tower of Christiana Towers on North Campus. Student Housing. The West Tower is its twin.

Wrong.

Number of Walmarts in Newark, DE: 0 (nearest are Elton, MD (Supercenter), New Castle (not supercenter), DE, and Wilmington, DE (not supercenter).
Number of Walmarts in Harrisonburg, VA: 2 And BOTH are SUPERCENTERS. As a matter of fact, when the 2nd Harrisonburg one opened around the middle of the past decade, it briefly held the distinction of the largest Walmart Supercenter in the world.

And you might be surprised to know that Harrisonburg metro area has a population of over 120k:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrisonbu ... litan_area" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And while that is only a fraction of the 630ish k Wilmington, Newark, DE metro area, Harrisonburg certainly isn't podunk with a 120k metro area.

Well, that counts the band, the athletic assistant trainers, the cheerleaders, and again, Duke Dog. Does it also count the students selling programs in the parking lots?

You're just jealous because JMU can get about 8k of 20k students to show and UD can only get about 2-3k of about 20k students to show for UD games...

Deleware should start counting anyone older than 78 (average age or close) as 1 fan plus a fractional fan. That may be the only way to keep your average attendane over 20,000

I'm not a student so I really don't care what they do. Doesn't affect my enjoyment of Blue Hen football one ioata. And besides, then we don't have JMU's problem in the second half when those students go missing.

Oh, don't worry, I'm sure we'll adopt the JMU method of counting anything that moves in the stadium as attendance. We're thinking about splitting up the stadium announcing by quarters - figure we can have 4 people do the announcements rather than just one. If we had one person in a concession stand filling sodas, let's go with two. The opportunities are limitless!

I guess I don't really see the incentive for JMU or any FCS school to inflate its attendance numbers. If anything in JMU's case, I would expect the administration to under report attendance. A large segment of the fan base wants to see a move to FBS, but the administration doesn't support a move. Strong attendance numbers would provide more ammo to proponents of FBS, and I just don't see our current administration letting that happen.

Boy you're as funny as a crutch. Probably right, but still!! Anyway, the stadium looks great and you should be proud of it. I love the tradition we have built over the last 50 years in Delaware stadium and don't ever want to see it replaced. Improved and built around absolutely. But I say congratulations to JMU and good luck in your improved home. :D
