Read this on panthertalk.com. The GSU panthers travel to there later in the season and they brought up a good point of wondering how much of a dropoff there will be from game 1 to game 2 and there after. I gotta believe with all the FBS teams in the state they will not be able to draw that much consistently even though they are going straight to FBS.

Had a pretty good drop off from game 1 to game 2 but they still drew a huge turnout for their 2nd game...a 24-21 heartbreaker to D-3 McMurry....

They drew 31,634.

That is a huge disappointment of a game. A D-3? With zero scholarships! Its gonna be lucky for them to get 15,000 next week. So goes the WAC.

I bet Grambling and some of the Black Colleges get similar crowds for some of the rivalry games. They get huge numbers usually.

Absolutely wild. The team needs to improve dramatically, though.

That's the same team SFA beat 82-6 last week.

Many of them do. The Florida Classic (FAMU/Bethune-Cookman) has averaged over 68,000 since 1997 and got 73,358 in 2003.

Really?!

I'd give UTSA some time to improve, it's their first year. They are located in a recruiting hot bed so I think they'll be just fine. FWIW, GaState lost to Lambuth last year and finished with a 6-5 record...

Georgia State also had great attendance for their inaugural game. 40k plus. New program + big city + not a lot of good football going on in the state = a big crowd. Wait and see how they do for the rest of the year.

They closed off the upper bowl for the second game. Sold out of seats that were available from what I read.

They play AT SUU next week. They didn't schedule any of the non-independent/transitioning FCS games as home games.
Remaining home games
Bacone College
South Alabama
Georgia State
Minot State

Away
SUU
SAM
UC-Davis
McNeese

This is Texas we are talking about. They draw 40K at high school games.
