Please don't tell me your coach actually said this:
This is a very good defense. Generally, you don’t see defenses that defend the pass as well as they do when your offense runs the triple-option. And the reason being, you don’t get the practice looks each week. But they make up for what they don’t see each week in practice with their athleticism."
Does he actually believe that all we practice against in game prep for our opponents is the TO?

We're just filling in the thread for you guys, you're pretty light on the comments. Besides, ODU gets spanked in this one so we need a little more diversion to keep it interesting.

So are you saying that we will be fine defending against the TO?
Exactly how posished of a spread offense can you possibly run with your scout team? Do you think you have a single QB that would commit to a TO offense program that is as good as our QB's that committed to a spread offense program? The scout team for any team will not be nearly as good as the opponent. When the offense the scout team runs is drastically different than the offense that your team runs, you lose a little more quality.
Meh, doesn't sound that crazy to me.

Funny you should mention GSU's scout team QB. Meet true freshman Prince McJunkins, son of a former Wichita State record setting QB who bears the same name. Prince was recruited and signed from the state of Oklahoma where in his senior campaign he threw for 2,132 yards with 33 TDs and only 3 interceptions. His completion percentage was 72%. He also rushed for 627 yards and scored 12 TD. As a two year starter he threw for more than 4,500 yards and 51 TD; ran for 1,700 yards and 27 TD. He's close to the same size as the ODU QB (a little lighter and much faster).

GSU might not simulate the ODU offense perfectly in practice, but it won't be because they don't have a QB who can throw it.

ODU will get annihilated by GSU. Bank on it.
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

I admittedly haven't watched an Old Dominion game this year... but, just looking at the statistics... I just don't see how their defense stops Georgia Southern's offense enough for this to be close.

Nothing that can go up on a message board will solve the problem that ODU will have - they won't be able to stop GSU and they'll have trouble moving the ball against GSU. And really, a whole busload of students? So that's what, 50 kids? And that will help how?

No, I was just saying. Where did I ever say it will help ODU win the game????

So everybody is saying that ODU won't stop GSU but GSU will be able to stop ODU......the fact is that both teams have terrific offenses and it will be a high scoring game. I think ODU has the fire power on offense to stay with GSU. NOTICE: I'm not saying who will win or lose.

I've always thought it'd be an interesting strategy to put extra safties on the field at cornerback on first down. They can get off wr blocks easier if they run on first down and can help make a tackle for a short yardage play.

They'd also be fast enough to cover for at least a decent amount of time. But hey, if you are forcing them to throw on first down, you've already won half the battle right there. Let them throw over and over, well pick off more than our share with them not being used to attempting that many passes.

It's at least something to consider on first down if you can't have initial success stopping the option early. If you can get the extra safties on the field on first down, force them into long yardage on second and then get a 3rd and 5 or longer.....it'll be a longggg day for gsu. They might break a big one on a saftey with a pass, but they won't want to abandon their bread and butter just because of the personel package the defense is dictating.

It's what I'd do....at least to try it....to see if they'd be willing to audible or not because of the defensive package on the field. Our safties are pretty athletic...I think it could be a big advantage to have an extra safety out on the corner instead of a CB against the TO.

we won't have trouble moving the ball stooge. We haven't had trouble moving the ball once since heineke took over. We have one of the best offenses in the country. Gsu's defense isn't any better than your average caa defense.

Care to put your money where your mouth is. Set the over under on odu's total points and we can make a bet. Unless you are a chicken. Oh right, of course you are.....you are a freaking Delaware fan after all lol.

Isn't you losers season over? Why are you shaved apes still posting on every single one of our damn threads with your worthless, completely idiotic opinions about odu that have been wrong ALL season long and that no odu fan cares about or wants to hear?

Oh right, because you're from Delaware and you have absolutely nothing else to do. Now I remember ha ha.

There will be ALOT of gsu fans eating crow after this game with all their ridiculous blow out predictions......

But come to think of it....I'm sure crow sounds mighty tasty to a bunch of hicks who usually are stuck eating whatever dead animal they can scrape off the road.

"mmmmmmm.....that thare possum stew shawr wuz dalichus Cletus! Almost as dalichus as wachin' r eagles run that thare triple opshun!"

but who am I kidding.....ga southern fans are borderline Mensa members compared to the repeated idiocy Delaware fans have shown picking against odu every single freaking week.

Pathetic.....but we've all come to expect it from delawhere.

2,132 yards? Our QB threw for double that his senior year. And what wide receivers are running routes for your scout team? 3rd or 4th team guys? We probably have 6 receivers as good or better than your best 2.

McJunkins didn't play on a pass first, pass all the time team like the ODU QB, so trying to compare total yardage doesn't make sense. The fact that he completed 72% of his passes and threw for 33 TD with only 3 picks simply makes the point that he has some passing ability. The post I was responding to suggested that there was no way GSU had a QB who could throw the ball well enough to simulate the ODU passing attack.
