Gotta go digging around small-town Minnesota for that breed of tight end, my friend. I expect other parts of the country turn those guys in o-linemen. He's probably more D-IA in size only, methinks. Not quite the athlete you find at the position at the FBS level.
You do realize that Veldman is from the Twin Cities metro and was a finalist for Mr Football. In no world would he have ever been turned into an OL, he wasn't even a great blocker until this year. If he wouldn't have had a number of injury issues he probably would be a legit NFL prospect, even so he might get a look as a free agent this year.

Not sure why he didn't get more FBS looks, that said a lot of MN preps get overlooked. The fact that there are only major college football programs in the region leave a lot of borderline talent on the table for the regional FCS programs to scoop up.
Matt Veldman is from Becker. Not the Twin Cities. Closer to St. Cloud than TC.
Furthermore your point that in no way would he have been moved is taken out of context. Way I see it most HS coaches would want a guy that big on their offensive line going against HS d-linemen. Even big time colleges do this. Miami did that to one of their TE prospects, Eric Winston, who became a OT after being recruited as a TE. Regardless of his blocking ability, I'm sure he'd be better at it if he was forced to play OL in high school.

And it's fairly obvious why Minnesota preps get ignored:
A. The state doesn't churn out enough major talent to draw the attention of the FBS schools' recruiting services.
B. The local FBS school hasn't been run well.
C. There aren't enough big-time schools in the area. Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin are basically it.

There have been a few TE's making the NFL from Minnesota, aka Ben Utecht, Matt Spaeth, John Carlson etc.

Becker is in the metro, so therefore he is from the Twin Cities. He was KARE-11 All-Metro. He never really had the frame to be an OL, he was tall and skinny and a pretty good athlete on the basketball court. He was a WR at the high school level.

I do understand your point, NDSU has converted TE's to OL in the past but they need to have the right frame and skill set.

Surprised that these three Big 10 powers, don't clean up in this state they could red-shirt them let them develop, physically then play the position they want them to.

I think 3 weeks is good.

Becker is in sherburn cnty. Is that one of the 7 metro counties? Becker is up there on hwy 10, closer to St. Cloud than Minneapolis,

I know Matts dad. He played for Dallas.

Having three weeks definitely made it easy for travel, I doubt I could go to the game if I only had a week.

Imagine how this board would have blown up if this was a UM/GSU matchup...instead, we're stuck with two fanbases that don't give a shit and there's a grand total of ONE thread about this game 3 days before gameday. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

Now that's hardly the case...NDSU fans care about this more than a lot of schools would.

Anyway, here is the BISON endzone...anyone have a picture of the SHSU side? Pump it up!!

It's a shame that one poster can have such an effect.

It's also only magnified when every other poster bashes NDSU to get under the skin of said poster. Most Bison fans stay away from this site.

I remember when this site started the intent was to avoid all the censorship that used to plague AGS. I was excited at the opportunity for more open discussion here. Now I generally just read and don't post because it is very rare there is a conversation about the Bison that doesn't turn into a shitstorm.

Sad story. Perhaps you guys should learn to "thin out the herd" and get rid of the weaker bison.

It is well documented that "said poster" is an impostor.

Edit: Also, this is not my site and I don't make the rules. If people like him around to use as a chew toy and blow off some steam...fine. Personally, I would have banned him for all porn he posted, but that's me. I like the alternate perspective that this board can provide at times, but it gets old wading through all the garbage to get some useful information.

1. It's basically the offseason, we are all bored, calm yourself down.
2. Whatever JBB is, whether it zombie, cyborg, dumbass, or just a democrat, he and lakes unfortunately carry the flag, ignore them, that will make you feel better.
3. It's a forum, don't take it seriously, same with egriz.

Well, since the Administration of this site is a Griz fan......perhaps the Griz should be thining out the sick Bison (and you know to what Bison I refer). I am sure if that was done the HERD on this site would grow and be stronger. :twocents:
