Georgia Southern's speed was going to eat us up. Well, we have some guys with speed also.
SHSU is very good but I think we are better.

Fair enough man. I just still am bitter over the Montana loss. If Montana lost, I just can't accept anyone else winning.Bison Fan in NW MN wrote:Georgia Southern's speed was going to eat us up. Well, we have some guys with speed also.

Like I stated, SHSU could play like they did against Stony Brook and drop every other pass and shoot themselves in the foot. Stranger things have happened.

Who has SHSU beaten? Montana and.....SeattleGriz wrote:I know you know your ball Willie, but did you watch any GSU games this year? Georgia Southern
Their D is a lot better than some give credit to. But I still think UM had a slight edge on them (I don't want your numbers I've seen them).
Both years GSU met a defense that was disciplined and lost. NDSU has the tools to win the game, but I just feel that SHSU will score too many points early on and NDSU doesn't have the offense to close the gap before the game is over.
Who exactly of quality has NDSU beaten? JMU? The 5th place team in the admittedly down CAA. Lehigh? The Patriot team with their best player sitting out.
SHSU will be so much above the competition they have played, NDSU won't be able to compensate fast enough.
NDSU beat Minnesota, UNI, GSU and JMU(who was playing well after getting their starting QB back from suspension). Lehigh still had a Payton finalist at QB and they didn't even score a point. You underrate the Bison but that isn't a surprise because that is what people and especially Big Sky fans have always done on this board.

Wait. Is...or is NOT...UNI considered a quality victory? Because according to JBB they barely register and fall somewhere between Missouri State and Indiana State on the quality scale.FargoBison wrote:

So what exactly goes into JBB's "quality" scale? Who was NDSU's toughest opponent? St Francis?AZGrizFan wrote:Wait. Is...or is NOT...UNI considered a quality victory? If you see JBB tell him that EWU's team from last year is still the best team we have played in the past two seasons...I'm sure he'll agree.

Yes, I believe they did prepare the Bison for SHSU, NDSU faced some excellent RBs on a weekly basis in the MVFC.SeattleGriz wrote:Yeah, that stalwart of a conference known as the MVFC is for sure going to prepare you for SHSU. Dude. Montana's D was solid, they just weren't ready for the speed. The LB's were out of place a little and Flanders schooled them. I wish it wasn't so, but it happened. Doesn't matter how "ready" you are, if you are out of place, SHSU will bust it just like they did against Montana.Bison Fan in NW MN wrote:
Our defense this year is better than last year's defense. Our defense is better than the Grizz's....period.
Get crushed? SHSU will get some points, they are a talented team, but our lines will wear them down.
Montana made some good adjustments in their SHSU game but the 1st quarter killed them. NDSU will not give SHSU TOs like the Grizz did. NDSU can lose this game but IMO, we are a better team.
I think NDSU had a strong defense, I am just saying SHSU plays lights out and Bohl is too conservative. I see this game playing out like the Montana game. SHSU gets up early and hangs on for a win. NDSU ain't got the horses.

By the way Montana would own NDSU. Bunch of Polack Nancies.
Now you're right that NDSU isn't the overall fastest defense around, but they play faster than they are precisely because they are so seldom out of position, and they have a lockdown CB. I saw them play live this year and the SIU game was a textbook example of how well they keep hanging around and seize an opportunity when presented.
For most of the year I've been skeptical of NDSU just because I saw with my own eyes 4-7 SIU beat the stuffing out of them and only lose because it was the first start for SIU's backup QB. Jewel Hampton ran for 120 yards against a stacked box and the Bison managed 60 yards net rushing at 1.8ypc. The NDSU o line was beaten like a rented mule by SIU's d line and about 30% of the Bisons total offense came on a 60 yard flea flicker. They didn't have a first down until 5 minutes left in the 3rd qtr. Then they kept the ball for 11 minutes of the 4th qtr, managed a weak TD pass, and won the game on the last play with a tipped int. Sonsabitches now have my respect, especially for team play, which will be the determining factor Saturday. SHSU will have the best athletes on the field, NDSU will have the best team on the field. Advantage Bison.
As it was said, so shall it be.

If the Grizz wouldn't have shot themselves in the foot in the 1st quarter the Grizz would have won by 2 TDs. It will be a good game.SeattleGriz wrote:Fair enough man. I'm looking forward to the Montana schools coming to play the Bison.....Montana State in 13 and Grizz in 14. Tough OOC games for the Bison....although I don't think MSU will be very competitive against the Bison. The Grizz on the other hand will be a huge challenge.

Hey houndawg....you keep beating the same drum about our game with SIU this year. SIU had a good defense but totally underachieved this year. The Bison didn't play well in that game and I give credit to SIU for that.....but good teams find ways to win even when they do not bring their A-game.
I'm looking forward to seeing your QB next year in our house. I thought the Bison would be a good team this year but honestly I thought next year or the year after would be our years to make a run at the NC. We are loaded with sophs and freshman that play; the next few years should be pretty good.
Will Lennon be in trouble if next year is the same as this year?

Ya, you're right.....that game is 2 yrs away. Your QB will be a senior along with a lot of our players. Should be a good game.

Re: OK, all you NDSU ****...
I'm beating that drum because it's the one I saw - and you're right, good teams win games they maybe shouldn't. My point is that I think SIU was better than I gave them credit for being, so that NDSU beating them was a better victory than it might appear from outside, and why I'm predicting a Bisons victory.Bison Fan in NW MN wrote:Hey houndawg....you keep beating the same drum about our game with SIU this year. I don't hear a lot of calling for Lennon's head, but I'm not close to the program and everything I hear is third hand at best. Rumorwise I have heard that some Kill-era players don't feel that Lennon is bringing in the same quality recruits that Kill did, at least not as much, and Kill is a tough act to follow in other ways too. We have had two bad seasons for injuries in different ways, year before last it was lots of injuries in one area, DBs, that had walk ons getting some pt. This year the big one was losing our starting QB who was the MVC total offense leader at the time in the fourth week. One of the hall marks of Kill's recruits was speed and conditioning and we didn't seem to have the injuries when Eric Klein was the S&C coach under Kill. Lennon has hired a new S&C coach from Oregon and that's what I'll be looking at in the spring. Not to say that fans are happy, but three tipped passes, none going our way, were the difference between 4-7 and 7-4 last year, one of them being the final play of the NDSU game. I think the MVC will be up again next year and a tough slog, but if we aren't in the playoffs the ice will be getting thin under DL.

Re: OK, all you NDSU ****...
Bohl doesn't call the defense...Scottie Hazelton calls the defense and is probably the best in the nation. Right, cannot simulate speed at all and I am not doubting the fast paced SHSU offense but question for the Griz defense...how was the pressure on the QB during the semi finals? How did the defense line up against their offense? The BISON will undoubtedly be fresh for a majority of the game with the rotations that Hazelton implements between the LBs and the DL.
We have some of the best cover corners going up against the best WRs...that'll be a huge match up to look at because the BISON aren't the greatest against the pass. I am confident NDSU can shut down the run...we have seen it from them before. Flanders isn't superman.
edit: failed to realize there was another page of discussion...sooooo disregard this if things have been answered or already said
