UND will be a good addition to the Big Sky. Look at what is on the horizon for UND.

That is correct. SLO, like Grand Forks, is too far away.SloStang wrote:Hey kemajic I did not see you in SLO in 2010.kemajic wrote: I counted at least 5 or 6 in Missoula for the '10 game.

Too bad, you could have seen the Mustangs beat your Griz. I think you still owe me some beer for that game.kemajic wrote:That is correct. SLO, like Grand Forks, is too far away.SloStang wrote: Hey kemajic I did not see you in SLO in 2010.
BTW, I disagree. I have made the trip to Missoula 4 times and it was an easy trip.
I can also see why you are not looking forward to Cal Poly and UND joining the Big Sky. The last two trips the Griz made to SLO we beat the Griz in one game and the Griz were lucky to pull out a win in the other when our kicker missed a game winning FG from 27 yards with under a minute to go. Grand Forks is also a tough place to play. Sounds like you may not want the competition.

I know you're exaggerating. No one wants you in the conference because you don't fit geographically.Darell1976 wrote:I think all the Big Sky teams fear us. Re: Big Sky vs. UND, are they out?
Except UNC. Because right now UND is right where UNC was in the NCC days. Your closest opponent....Omaha. 461 miles. So here's what I think. Teams need to suck it up and play us. You think Miami bitches because they have to go to Boston? Or you think Montana State bitches because they have to go to Flagstaff? No they play the team on the schedule. I see bitching only if you lose to us and because we cause a threat to your season. You win and people will forget how far you have to go to get that win. What about those teams that have to go to Hawaii. How would you like to be in that conference...it was a long way to Louisiana for them.BigSkyBears wrote:I know you're exaggerating. CPSLO 14-2
UC Davis 4-0
SUU 4-1
UND 11-7 (only one game since 1973)

The majority were played when Cal Poly only had about 40 scholarships and the majority were played in Missoula. Now we are fully funded with 63 scholarships and half the games will be played in SLO.kemajic wrote:We would like better competition. Cal Poly's playoff record vs Montana 1-0 (in Missoula no less).
Re: Big Sky vs. UND, are they out?
I drive over 300 miles each way to home games with overnights. No energy left for long trips to away games unless they are notable. I make most of the short ones. No CA or ND. I've been to or through SLO several times as I lived several years in Capistrano.SloStang wrote:Too bad, you could have seen the Mustangs beat your Griz. That was 2005. How many other playoff wins do you have by now? Re: Big Sky vs. UND, are they out?
Interesting observation, the game we won by two was lucky, but the game you won by two, you just won. Christmas came early for you in '10; the Griz dominated the game (416 yards passing) but beat themselves with turnovers. The '08 game was yours to win, but you could not not stop our backup RB in the second half as he ran it down your throat to the tune of 145 yards. All you had to do was stop that and it would not have come down to a special teams play that was your Achilles heel.SloStang wrote:The last two trips the Griz made to SLO we beat the Griz in one game and the Griz were lucky to pull out a win in the other when our kicker missed a game winning FG from 27 yards with under a minute to go.

Re: Big Sky vs. UND, are they out?
Interesting observation. The game we lost by two we had over 100 yards more offense, averaged 6.5 yards per play in 65 plays compared to the Griz averaging Only 4.8 yards per play in 66 plays. We sacked UM's QB 6 times vs 1 by the Griz. Cal Poly DOMINATED the game but lost it because of turnovers and special teams.kemajic wrote:Interesting observation, the game we won by two was lucky, but the game you won by two, you just won. In the game you lost in 2010 you did throw for 416 yards, but only averaged 1.9 yards per carry. While you did throw for 416 yards the Mustang defense forced 3 INTs and sacked UM's QB 3 times. Cal poly beat UM with our 3rd string QB playing the 4th quarter. No telling how much Cal Poly would have won by if starting QB Andre Broadous played.

Re: Big Sky vs. UND, are they out?
So being concerned with how the addition of an extreme outlier for us and the conference as a whole will affect our budgets and subsequent performance on the field/court is all chalked up to bitching. Ok, great handle on reality. I guess I could just stick my head in the sand and pretend that adding a conference member that is 2 time zones away will have no impact on our athletic program at all.Darell1976 wrote:Except UNC.
