I think you need to be more specific as far as which assault you're referring to

Re: Grizzers, What's The Latest On the Sexual Assault Tumult
One player charged with sexual assault. Charged in past several months, from incident in September 2010 (yes 10). The only UM football player ever charged with sexual assault, at least in modern history and to my recollection.
The current quarterback is accused of sexual assault, but no charges have been filed, at least yet. Incident occurred in early or mid-February. He missed a week of spring football, while an ex parte temporary restraining order (to require him to stay away from the accuser) was in place. After the tro became a mutual civil agreement requiring both parties to stay away from each other, he was allowed to continue practicing. This was allowed by the new committee of 3 (AD, compliance officer, and faculty liason to athletic department), who then ran it by the president. There are persistent rumors that the university wants to or will kick him out of school, under the new athletic code, which now has a preponderance of the evidence standard, i.e. 51%. If he's expelled without being charged, there will be alot of criticism of the university. This one has lots of rumors in general. The qb was 12-12 in passing in the big scrimmage in the stadium last Saturday.
There is a gang rape allegation by a former student and involving 4 players. This came to light several month ago, but occurred in December 2010 (yes 10). The police had investigated this allegation in 2011, and declined to bring charges. There appears to be a pending university proceeding now. One former player was not on campus in the fall or now. Two former players completed their eligiblity last fall. One current player appears to be not participating in spring practice. Three students are appealing an adverse result from the university. This may or may not be these three, or some of these three.
A sexual assault allegation made in December 2011, from an incident in Dec 2011, appears to be going nowhere. The women had complained to the university. However, they quit cooperating with the university, saying the universiity had leaked their names to the media, and the local newspaper stated calling them. There doesn't appear to be a police investigation going, but that is not publicly known. This incident may not have involved football players, but the accuser had apparently been with players earlier in the evening. This incident may or may not have involved rape/intercourse.
There have been multiple other incidents and university investigations involving other matters in the past 18 months or so, but they don't apear to involve football players or athletes. One incident a few months ago involved a Saudi student, who fled the country after the university contacted him regarding the accusation. The university received alot of criticism over their handling of that matter.

Re: Grizzers, What's The Latest On the Sexual Assault Tumult
Basically nothing has happened since the Pflu bombshell. Still no specific explanation for his firing. Rumors were rampant that Johnson and up to 7 others were either leaving the team of their own free will or being dismissed from the team. That has not happened. Every player that was on the team before Pflu got the ax is still on the team now. According to interim head coach Delaney, all recruits who committed to the Griz are still committed to the Griz. As mentioned above, nothing has come of the allegations against Johnson, and it seems as though nothing will.
In other words, those of you hoping for the demise of the Griz dynasty may be sorely disappointed.

Grizzers, What's The Latest On the Sexual Assault Tumult?
The funny, if not slightly tragic, thing about this whole ordeal is that there's still Montana fans demanding to know why the AD and HC were fired.
Isn't it painfully obvious?

I thought they were fired by a petition signed by EWU fans because they might beat EWU this year on the INFERNO?EWURanger wrote:The funny, if not slightly tragic, thing about this whole ordeal is that there's still Montana fans demanding to know why the AD and HC were fired.

It is and it isn't though. Obviously they were fired in relation to the sexual assaults, alleged and not. But we don't know if they were fired simply because they kept happening, because (perceived) appropriate punishment wasn't doled out, or if there was a collective sweeping under the rug.EWURanger wrote:The funny, if not slightly tragic, thing about this whole ordeal is that there's still Montana fans demanding to know why the AD and HC were fired.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. Al Swearengen

You don't have a dynasty. I think most football fans expect 3 or more championships to be a dynasty. Example would be the NE Patriots. You haven't won a title since 2001 and that was your second.SouthDakotaGrizzly wrote:Basically nothing has happened since the Pflu bombshell. Still no specific explanation for his firing. Meh, the Griz juggernaut? Powerhouse? Best in the West?
USC only had one (vacated) championship, yet they were arguably the FBS dynasty of the 00's

They came the closest in that decade but I still wouldn't say they were a dynasty. Let's not lower our standards here.Brock Landers wrote:Meh, the Griz juggernaut? Powerhouse? Best in the West?

Thanks for the clarification on "dynasty". How does 19 conference championships fit into the equation? Depends on your context, I guess.BigSkyBears wrote:You don't have a dynasty. Point is, many non-Griz fans thought (hoped) this whole shitstorm would send the program into a tailspin that would take years to recover from. Hell, a lot of Griz fans thought that too. Of course, it remains to be seen exactly how it will affect the program, but the sense I get right now is that the effect will be fairly minimal and that the Griz will be in the thick of the Big Sky and national title race again next season. As usual. Dynasty or not.

Conference championships are great, but it's all about the titles. You probably meant powerhouse and that's what Montana is.
