    vs. FCS: 2-2
    Overall: 5-3

Best Performance: Cal Poly 24, (FBS) Wyoming 22 - Andre Broadous didn't do much statistically, but former NAU RB Deonte Williams gashed the Cowboys for 187 yards on just 19 carries.

Worst Performance: Weber St. 21, (#19) McNeese St. 35 - The final score doesn't indicate how lopsided this game really was, as—with 6:45 to go—the Wildcats were losing 35-7 and had been outgained 548-128.

Most Surprising Result: Cal Poly 24, (FBS) Wyoming 22 - The Mustangs hand Wyoming their first ever loss to an FCS team.

    vs. FCS: 1-2
    Overall: 3-3

Best Performance: (#19) McNeese St. 35, Weber St. 21 - The Cowboys haven't missed the playoffs 3 straight years since the late '80s/early '90s, and—with an FBS win & a dominating performance in Ogden so far—it doesn't appear like that will change.

Worst Performance: Southeastern Louisiana 6, Tennessee-Martin 23 - The Lions fall to 19-40 under sixth-year head coach Mike Lucas.

Most Surprising Result: Northwestern St. 34, (FBS) Nevada 45 - The Demons play Nevada surprisingly close in a game that had 1240 yards of offense.

Worst Performance: Missouri St. 23, Murray St. 28 - The Bears gave up 42 fewer points than they did they last time they played Murray, but they lose yet again.

Most Surprising Result: (#15) Illinois St. 54, Eastern Illinois 51 (2OT) - This was a bit closer than expected, but the Redbirds still get their first 3-0 start since 1991.

EKU 35-17 CCU

    Overall: 12-12

    vs. FCS: 3-2
    Overall: 9-3

Best Performance: (#20) Eastern Kentucky 35, Coastal Carolina 17 - Following a dubious win last week, the Colonels rebound by racking up 442 yards in Conway.

Worst Performance: Southeast Missouri St. 14, Southern Illinois 35 - Being outgained 565-186 proves the Redhawks still have a long way to go to return to 2010's magic.

Most Surprising Result: (#20) Eastern Kentucky 35, Coastal Carolina 17 - Colonels get their first win in the state of South Carolina since beating Furman in the first round of the 1986 playoffs.

    vs. FCS: 4-3
    Overall: 10-7

Best Performance: Lafayette 28, Penn 21 - The Leopards are nearly outgained by 200 yards, but that doesn't matter much when you force 7 interceptions.

Worst Performance: Georgetown 21, Yale 24 - The Hoyas force 5 turnovers & get two non-offensive touchdowns, but still can't it done.

Most Surprising Result: Fordham 34, Cornell 27 - The Rams even their series with Cornell & double last year's win total despite allowing 489 yards through the air.

    vs. FCS: 2-5
    Overall: 5-14

Best Performance: Albany 24, (#5) Youngstown St. 31 - The Great Danes take another tough opponent to the edge, but again can't quite get the win.

Worst Performance: Bryant 7, (#25) Maine 51 - Bulldogs continue their nightmare by losing yardage 581-186 and throwing 2 pick-sixes.

Most Surprising Result: St. Francis (PA) 57, Morehead St. 23 - Keion Wade's 243 yards and 3 TDs on the ground give the Red Flash their first winning record at any point since a victory over now-defunct St. Peter's in the 2006 opener.

    vs. FCS*: 5-0

Best Performance: (#13) Delaware 19, Bucknell 3 - Andrew Pierce runs for 101 yards as the Hens win a field goal battle with a scrappy Bison squad.

Worst Performance: Rhode Island 10, Villanova 31 - Are the Rams sure they don't want reconsider staying in the CAA?

Most Surprising Result: (#12) Towson 20, William & Mary 17 - A surprisingly close game, though the Tigers did win yardage convincingly & didn't turn it over.

    Overall: 3-10

Best Performance: (#17) Stony Brook 17, (FBS) Syracuse 28 - Miguel Maysonet & Marcus Coker combined for 216 yards rushing, but weak performances by QB Kyle Essington and the Seawolf defense prevented a Carrier Dome upset.

Worst Performance: VMI 6, Richmond 47 - In embarrassing fashion, the Keydets lose to Richmond for the 10th. consecutive time.

Most Surprising Result: Coastal Carolina 17, (#20) Eastern Kentucky 35 - Despite a chance to make some noise, the Chanticleers' 6-game winning streak comes to a blunt end.

Best Performance: Delaware St. 7, (FBS) Cincinnati 23 - The Hornets force 6 turnovers to keep this game surprisingly competitive.

Worst Performance: Morgan St. 6, (FBS) Akron 66 - It's one thing to give up 753 yards to a good FBS opponent, but we're talking about a Zips team that had lost 24 of its last 26 games.

Most Surprising Result: Howard 37, Norfolk St. 36 (OT) - The Bison block an extra point in overtime to hand the defending MEAC champions an 0-1 start.

SoCon

CIT 52-28 APP
WVSU 14-48 ELON

    vs. FCS: 1-0
    Overall: 6-2

Best Performance: (#21) The Citadel 52, (#8) Appalachian St. 28 - The Bulldogs rack up 618 yards of offense and produce three 100-yard rushers in stunning the Boone faithful.

Worst Performance: (#8) Appalachian St. 28, (#21) The Citadel 52 - Stephen Miller's 167 yards and 3 TDs on the ground are a total afterthought in this Mountaineer debacle.

Most Surprising Result: (#21) The Citadel 52, (#8) Appalachian St. 28 - The Citadel beats App State for just the 2nd. time in the last 19 years.

* - I know Georgia State is still technically in the CAA this year, but I'm counting them as FBS and as a non-conference opponent for CAA teams (same as UMass last season).

Tomorrow: what's left of the non-playoff conferences.

    Overall: 5-3

    vs. FCS: 5-3
    Overall: 5-3

Best Performance: Yale 24, Georgetown 21 - Bulldogs somehow improve to 6-0 versus Georgetown despite losing 5 turnovers, allowing 260 rushing yards, giving up a punt return touchdown, and committing 11 penalties.

Worst Performance: Cornell 27, Fordham 34 - Jeff Mathews has a monster game—throwing for 489 yards and 3 touchdowns & committing no turnovers—but the Big Red still fall at the hands of a team that went 1-10 last year.

Most Surprising Result: Princeton 14, (#16) Lehigh 17 - I do believe Lehigh is overrated, but I'm still shocked this game was close.

SWAC

JSU 45-35 TXSO
ALST 19-18 GRAM
MVSU 6-0 SU
PVAMU 30-42 AAMU

Worst Performance: Southern 0, Mississippi Valley St. 6 - The Jaguars give MVSU their second win in the last 3 years in a game that reportedly set football back to the single-wing era.

Most Surprising Result: Grambling 18, Alabama St. 19 - The specific result of this game isn't shocking, but it is surprising that the Tigers are off to an 0-3 start.

Pioneer League

    Overall: 9-20

    vs. FCS: 1-7
    Overall: 3-17

Best Performance: Dayton 20, Robert Morris 14 - As the only Pioneer team to win a DI game this week, the Flyers get this award by default.

Worst Performance: Morehead St. 23, St. Francis (PA) 57 - How do you hold ranked Eastern Kentucky to 24, then turn around & give up 43 unanswered points to SFPA?

Most Surprising Result: Morehead St. 23, St. Francis (PA) 57 - Head coach Matt Ballard now has a losing overall record at Morehead for the first time since late in the 2001 season.

A top half of the CAA team at home beating a usual near the bottom of the Patriot team only 19-3 warrants best performance. :? I would put UNH, Villanova, UR and Maine (in no particular order) ahead of UD's performance. Heck, I'd even put ODU's 56 point win over Cambell and JMU beating the spread vs WVU ahead. Come to think of it, UD should get 2nd place for worst performance behind URI.

Eh… Bucknell went 6-5 last year, making them definitely the best team the CAA beat this week.

ODU beat Campbell, who lost to an NAIA team in Week 1. UNH beat CCSU, who is just 4-10 since the beginning of last year. Richmond beat VMI, who hasn't won more than 4 games in a season since 2003. Nova beat Rhodie by less than Monmouth did. And Maine beat Bryant, who looks even worse than the other aforementioned teams.

Hey now, Campbell lost to newly upgraded DII Shorter their first game. Not that this helps any.
