BLM: 52/99 (52.5%), 675 yards/13ypc, 5 TDs/3 INTs
Padron: 50/104 (48.1%), 788 yards/15.8ypc, 4 TDs/4 INTs

Pretty similar numbers, if you ask me. :coffee:
BLM also had Taiwan Jones to win games for him. :coffee:
Not hurt, Adams has been equally impressive. It's a good problem to have, unlike Montana's Kolb/Skelton like situation. :thumb:
Impressive? Really? Despite perhaps the best receiving corps in the country, EWU is 12th. in the league in passing efficiency.
Your two observations contradict one another. Padron has had nearly identical numbers with more limitations than BLM; no spring ball with the team, and no Taiwan to pick up 3rd and longs. Both have had pretty much the same WRs.

BLM turned out okay for us, and so will Padron; he's right on track.

My observations only contradict each other if you're taking it as an absolute, 100%, more-certain-than-the-existence-of-gravity guarantee that Padron will improve as much as Mitchell. Who knows if that will actually happen? And if Baldwin is ready to half-bench him already, that may indicate a concern for his future.

BLM & Padron transferred from the same school, but that doesn't mean they're they same guy.

He wasn't so much benched, as it was Adams earning a shot with how impressive he's been in practice.

Padron's completion percentage / efficiency rating game by game...

Idaho: 39.4/109.52
WSU: 48.1/111.92
Weber: 64.7/145.98

All three games on the road as well. :coffee:

I watched a couple of practices during Fall camp and I remember Adams looking really good - not just with his feet, but throwing it and how he directed the offense. I think that's what Baldwin is talking about and what SE is echoing here. He has shown the "it" factor all along in practice and they want him to get involved. An additional upside as a fan is the future. He's a red shirt freshman and I would love watching him play the next 4 years.

That being said, I'm a little uncomfortable with Padron not being given a full opportunity to progress and that's what's problematic in any comparisons to BLM. Everyone remembers the 2010 semifinal and championship game, and all of last season, but people were still calling for his benching late in the 2010 regular season. The offense was still sputtering at times and BLM was not only mistake prone, he was pick-6 prone. Hell, he threw one in each of the first two playoff games. The only time BLM really shined was under duress and late in each half when the tempo picked up.

Padron has shown a similar tendency and seems to struggle from the pocket a bit and with his ability to make progressions and get rid of the ball quickly. Some of this might be due to protection breakdowns and some of it might have to do with learning a fairly complex, quick passing game based on rhythm. If that's the case, Adams who's been in the system for 1+ seasons now has an advantage, and his threat to run also negates a little bit of the o-line blocking concerns.

I'll grant you that BLM had Taiwan, but our running game so far has been effective enough to balance the pass.

One thing is for sure. I trust Baldwin and Co's decision making skills. Beau knows quarterbacks.

This is probably the most telling stat for KP.. FACT is.... he is getting better AND those games were all on the road AND the first 2 were FBS.

Padron wont pan out, just like I said months ago.

There is a reason the other RB that is playing QB is starting.

When you have 2 QBs you have NO QB. It wont matter either way come Saturday

Did I say that? No, I didn't. I was very hard on him early on when he was throwing pick 6's and picks in the red zone. But he finally learned the offense, settled in, and played lights outs. As will Padron.

This thread is about EWU vs. UM though, enough about us. Let's talk about those stellar Griz QBs. You know, the one's that can't throw the ball further than 20 yards, and turn the ball over if you pressure him a little. :thumb:

I predict a 4-4-3 defense vs Montana, or at least 7 in the box at all times.

Eastern won't abandon the 4-3. They've been a 4-3 team since the 70s, with the exception of a few years of the Jody Sears' fiasco.

I'm pretty BF doesn't mean we're switching to a 4-4-3 permanently, but we will more than likely have an extra guy in the box most of the game against the Griz, considering their problems throwing further than 20 or 30 yards. Stop the run, force them to beat us over the top... I like our chances with TJ Lee and Minnerly back there.

Its hard to start in a program that constantly produces Buchanan & Walter Payton award winners at QB. Montana hasnt had a Payton award winner since when?
