There were a lot of similarities between GSU and ODU when comparing the two schools some 10 years ago. But what happened since is a great case study of different approaches to attempt to achieve the same goal. ODU began a makeover from a commuter school to a residential school, having officially completed the process just over a year ago. Football was part of this makeover. It was not a stand alone element. But the biggest difference with ODU and GSU football programs has been the early success. Winning has added more fuel to the fire. GSU will have an extremely difficult time to elevate their program after this "first impression". While there are no guarantees for continued success, the ODU program is in a much better position going forward.
I don't see the GSU program folding, but getting rid of Curry is the right move that this point. They have to shed that "first impression" as quickly as possible.

I wish GaSt had waited to do this after they left FCS for the Sunbelt. Once again something is shown on SportsCenter that makes FCS look like the lowest of minor leagues and is also a poor reflection on a great FCS conference in the CAA.
They should have just paid 1000 people walking down the street in ATL $10 to go into the Dome for the game thus actually boosting attendance.
