Man I'm better at picking Big Sky games then I am Valley games. 5-1 last week in the Big Sky for me.

This week I'm going with...

SUU over Weber State
Northern Colorado over Idaho St
Montana over UND
EWU over Sac State
Northern Az over Cal Davis
Poly over Portland St

Not really. UND is fairly balanced on offense. I'd say that UM's strength (running the ball and controlling the clock) play right into UND's weakness. The Nothings are giving up 230 on the ground per game, and little ol' EWU put up 290 on them. 8-)
we can run it, but we've lost the TOP in every game except USD. Hardly our strength.

Remember we run it faster than anyone in conference, so even 7 or 8 runs in a row might only take 1:30-2:00 off the clock.

Yep, hard to win TOP when you run hyper-hurry-up the whole game, and the other team doesn't.

Number of plays is a better indicator of our success. After going over 100 vs. USD, we've sometimes been losing that number against much slower offenses.

THAT is bad for Montana.

Sac State 17-28 EWUI don't think the Hornets are ready to challenge for the Big Sky title

Portland St. 21-34 Cal PolyBoth teams will probably have to throw more than they would like

Weber 28-40 SuutahSorensen gets to face the worst passing efficiency defense in the Big Sky

UC Davis 17-31 NAULumberjacks running out of time to make their annual collapse

Idaho St. 42-49 NoCoUNC's pass rush sucks, but this game is away from the dome

Montana 34-31 NoDak — The Blanks' defense is just bad enough to keep Griz hopes alive

Well, Venus, let's just say that if everything was going on a roll of the dice THIS week, then, yes, the Hornets are probably ready to challenge. The problem with that, of course, is that it isn't a one-off proposition, but an accumulation of things throughout the season. So much has already happened that in all likelihood, no matter what happens, Sac won't get the title this year. At a MINIMUM, we have to win out, but our crazy endgame schedule almost guarantees that we won't. In addition, we're still so far out from the end of the season that the scenarios give me a headache. I'm not entirely certain that winning out alone would get us the title.

We should have taken care of business against UND....

After playing both, I have a hard time seeing Montana lose to UND.

Also, had to edit my previous ISU/UNC picks. With the distractions, I don't think they can win that game.

I think it all depends on which Griz team shows up. The one that lost to NAU or the one that lost to SUU or the one that lost to all those other teams

Sac State vs. EWU — Eagles have barely escaped with wins the past two weeks, my upset pick as the Hornets are a pretty good team and have done well on the road.

Portland St. vs. Cal Poly — Mustangs win this one in a shootout.

Weber vs. SUU — As mentioned we are facing the worst passing defense in the Big Sky and we are home, going with my T-Birds.

UC Davis vs NAU — Aggies have been surprising on offense past few week, but now they have to play NAU which is a much more daunting team.

Idaho St. vs UNC — Both offenses like to air it out, going to give the nod to the Bengals as they have been able to put up more points all season.

Montana vs. UND — This is a very tough pick, UND has a weak rushing defense while the Griz have a weak secondary, look to see a shootout but will give it to UND only because of home field advantage.

You're right, we barely escaped UND two weeks ago, 55-17.

Weber is actually middle of the pack in the Sky, in terms of passing D. The distinction of worst goes to Sac State.

Still crying about that? Sorry you guys cant take a loss, refs make mistakes (there were a few that went your guy's way as well, but the way some of you guys carry on every call was "perfect" for you all game ) its part of the game get over it. Blame the refs all you want, we beat you fair and square :coffee:

Don't let him get to you. The vast majority of calls at Wash-Griz, good or bad, go against the visitors, although Griz fans will not admit that.

Weber is at the bottom in efficiency D, which is the important one.

JALMOND wrote:Entering late October and this is where teams start moving, getting ready for the playoffs, therefore the games start getting more difficult, regardless of who plays who. Currently for the year I am at an embarassing 46-13 and need to start picking these games correct. Six games on the docket this weekend, with Montana State the odd one out. Here is my attempt at perfection (and I certainly need it).

ISU at UNC---The Bengals offense has not been the issue in their losses, it is their lame defense, as was the case last week against UC-Davis. The Bears could not keep up with Cal Poly on the road and still are looking for that first conference win in two years. Maybe they can get it now...UNC 32, ISU 27.

UM at UND---The Grizzlies season to forget gained momentum last week with a loss at home to Southern Utah. The Dakotans took on a strong Northern Arizona team and fell at home. Hard to imagine saying this, but the Grizzlies are not the Lumberjacks...UND 31, UM 20.

PSU at CP---After posting their fourth highest scoring output in school history, the Vikings took last week off to prepare for the Mustangs, who closed the door on Northern Colorado at home last week. Should be interesting with former Viking coach Walsh on the Mustangs sideline...CP 35, PSU 27.

Sac St at EWU---The Hornets seem to be a better team on the road than at home which makes this game interesting. The Eagles took care of business last week at Montana State, which may cause a bit of a hangover this week. The Eagles should still have enough to get this one...EWU 31, Sac St 27.

UCD at NAU---The Aggies offense has come alive now, but the defense has shown weakness in the win last week at Idaho State. The Lumberjacks went into the feisty Dakota Dome at North Dakota and came out victorious. Is this really a special season for the Lumberjacks?...NAU 35, UCD 21.

WSU at SUU---The Wildcats once again looked strong against a good Sacramento State team before falling on the road. The Thunderbirds were really impressive last week at Montana. The Wildcats would love getting their first win of the year against their instate brethren. But once again, settle for close...SUU 31, WSU 28.
5-1 for the week, 51-14 for the year. I said to watch out for Sac State and Weber, but I didn't think Weber would win. Almost picked the Sac State/EWU score, however. :D

Like those game changing calls for SUU two weeks ago, or NAU two years ago?
