Very well done. The AGS Poll was done well this week as well. I won't gripe over 23-25, those picks are always difficult.

With Sam Houston coming it at #3, it is likely that some picked them at #2 or even #1. What is so appealing about them? They have one win against a team with a winning record. Is that enough to stick your neck out and put them that high?

Albany shouldn't be ranked, IMO.

I have been saying for the past 3-4 weeks that we haven't been playing like a Top 20 team. Since Monmouth we have been slowly declining and squeaking out wins. We were still a Top 25 team until the loss to Wagner, but not Top 20. Now we're not. We got destroyed by Wagner. Manhandled.

Not a Top 25 team.

MSU struggles with a lower ranked team than CP, who EWU just throttled, not to mention the head to head between EWU/MSU, and MSU is higher? NDSU loses by 3 to a good conference foe and drops only a couple, then squeaks by the next couple weeks and they're back at 1? EWU loses by 3 to a good conference foe and drops a lot, then throttles a very good CP team, and inches back up?

They played with Baylor for a half, and have 1 loss against a top 20 team. They will probably finish with a 7-1 FCS record. Not many were impressed with them last year either, until the playoffs came around.

I'd say #5 or #6 is about right for EWU. I didn't really feel like the #1 was justified at the time, and then we went down to SUU and played a sloppy game that we ended up losing. That loss is probably still fresh in the minds of most pollsters, it was a bad loss. Win out an I can see us ar around #4 or #5, which is about right IMO. But I do feel like MSU is probably a little too high.

I agree. They shut me up with their performance in the playoffs, but that was last year. Not all of that should carry forward. And how do people vote? Is it who they think is the better team or which team has the best resume? It should be the latter, no? OK, so their schedule was weak and it's not entirely their fault. I get that. They look impressive against those weak teams. I get that. But does it mean you still put them ahead of teams that beat multiple teams with winning records?

They are virtually the same team as last year. If I recall correctly they only lost like 7-9 seniors and not all of those were starters.
Playing in the SLC has, for most part, been a bad gauge of how good/bad a team actually is.
In 2005 we hung with A&M and had a good playoff run. In 2008 we hung with SMU and crashed in the playoffs.
SFA was not playoff ready in 2010 and I tried to tell folks all you needed was good CBs and Safeties to stop them; just as I stated how good SAM was last year.
I haven't seen them play...at all..this year but I think they make a run. They just won't be SLC champions but we weren't the autobid in 2005, either, and were seeded 4th. (co-champions)

Well when a team is on a hot streak it gets recognized and most of the time rightfully so. You can say they are beating bad teams but those teams like SFA and McNeese don't fall in that category. They stumbled early but have regrouped and are doing real damage to anyone they play right now. Here's something to consider as to why some people are voting them high:

Among like conference opponents, Sam has outscored by a combined 203 points, UCA has outscored by 46 points. You have to look beyond their "weak" schedule.

Look at what they've done the past six weeks. They have outscored their last six opponents 313-66. They haven't been playing high school teams either. SELA's next closest FCS losses were 20 to UCA, 17 to TSU and SDSU. SHSU beat SELA by 70. Lamar has kept every FCS loss within 14 with the exception of a 49 point loss to SHSU. Look at what they did to McNeese. McNeese has won 6 games, lost two games by a combined 2 points, and have a 35 point loss to Sam Houston. There's something more to this team than just having the probable potential of 7 wins.

Sam Houston is playing just as good or better right now than any other team in all of the FCS. Rationalizing that they won't be in the playoffs just because they'd only have 7 wins is stupid. Considering the crowd who is doing that, I guess I'm not too surprised. The committee looks for the 10 best at-large teams. I don't know what SHSU has done to prove they're not one of those teams.

What is with Bobcats being ahead of Eastern? Do the voters know Eastern BEAT MSU?
Comparing results, Eastern won a FBS game and lost a game to a Pac 12 school. Looking at MSU, they beat Chadron State DIII, and Drake, non-scholly FCS.
wow what an accomplishment!

edit- oops meant to say DII sorry Chadron

Sorry if this doesn't make sense but timing of losses is everything. If EWU loses to SUU then beats MSU they are ahead of them, but because it happened the way it did things are the other way around and MSU is put ahead. IMO EWU should be higher than 6, but I can understand MSU being ahead of them. With that though, EWU is the better team in my mind.

My biggest problem right now is trying to put NDSU, SHSU, ODU, MSU, and EWU in any order from 1-5. Because NDSU is the defending champ and basically the same team I do think they belong there although our play as of late doesn't necessarily justify it. If we win out these new 2 weeks I think it is much more justified. It's going to be really interesting to see some of these top teams from different conferences take each other on in the playoffs. I also think there is more parody from top to bottom this year and it's not going to be a 1-4 semi finals like last year. Pretty exciting stuff happening in the FCS this year.
The strength of the herd is the bison and the strength of the bison is the herd.

Those are good points and I think Sam is a dangerous team at this point because of their experience, speed, and ability to score. That being said, our run in 2010 provided the other side of the momentum argument in that a team from a strong conference, who blows virtually no one out, but gets battle tested by all those tight games, can be dangerous too.

A likely loss for Sam at Texas A&M might take a little momentum away and will likely only get them one home playoff game. If they go on a run after that they will definitely have earned it.

That being said, our run in 2010 provided the other side of the momentum argument in that a team from a strong conference, who blows virtually no one out, can take that bruising
