Skewed because of the run-happy ToCon.

Citadel beat Georgia Southern and only passed for 85 yards against them...

There were 27 passing yards COMBINED in the Georgia Southern - Wofford game.
But their run defense isn't all that great either!!!!! It's ranked 33rd nationally.

Again, skewed because of the run-happy ToCon. Their run defense is much more stout than their national ranking.

They have one of, if not the best, D-lines in the country and a very good linebacker corps.

Take out the UGA game and the Wofford and Citadel games...it probably evens out.

There is no penalty. I'm picking up the flag, Dal, but I am giving you your final warning for excessive use of exclamation points. Next time it's 15 yards.

It's like traveling in the NBA. I'll give you three, but five is just too much.

At least Pam Ward is no longer calling college games for ESPN. She did the JMU/EKU 1st round game last yr. The dyke bitch is awful.

GO MONARCHS!
Interesting. I could be wrong, but I thought the 4 qtrfinal games televised on ESPN each the last 2 seasons (2 per season) were all on ESPN2 (I could be wrong).

Are either of the semis on ESPN (as opposed to ESPN2?)

Then they should be one of the stingier units in the country if they play in a run-oriented league.

I dont see ODU stopping the TO but the good thing is we have Touchdown Taylor.

"Texas A&M has Johnny Manziel, a.k.a. Johnny Football, the presumptive Heisman winner. But on a smaller stage, Touchdown Taylor once again set himself apart from other quarterbacks after throwing for six scores and running for two others on his way to 542 total yards, an FCS playoff record."

ODU 70
GSU 63

Grab your popcorn! This will be the ultimate shootout.

Some key points to this game:

1. Can ODU stop the TO? Can ODU get coached up for it? ....

This one should be fun because it's the ultimate contrast in styles...

All things being equal, I'd rather be the team that traditionally runs the ball well than throws the ball well. I'm sure we've all heard the old saying about passing: "When you pass it, three things can happen, and two of those are bad." Granted, Heinicke generally makes good things happen, but if an offense is going to be unbalanced, I'd rather be the team that runs the ball well .

It's probably going to come down to one or two stops and I really think that's going to favor GSU because of the run game. There's less of a chance they're going to be playing behind the chains on 2nd and 3rd down whereas I think ODU will see more 2nd and 3rd and longs. Not saying they can't convert those, but it's more difficult to do so (see above re: passing). Also, really all I've seen of either team is our game against ODU and a large part of the limited success we had came from misdirection plays, which is what the TO is based on, so ODU will need to get better there - and probably has.

So, from a pure probability standpoint, I like GSU to make a stop or two more and win. But my gut still says ODU and I don't know why - maybe I'm fond of mascots dressed up like royalty...so, I'm officially hedging my bet.

I don't know what female came up with that saying, but there are clearly more than three things that can happen. Pass interference is a big factor in the passing game. And defensive pass interference/holding happens a lot more than offensive pass interference. Thus, the Bad/Good ratio is closer to even than the 2:1 ratio that was quoted. But I'm nitpicking.

It was either one of these feminists: Woody Hayes, Darrel Royal, or Bernie Moore.

And I'll see your nitpicking and raise you more nitpicking.

I would equate defensive pass interference/holding to a completion and offensive pass interference/holding (because holding is another danger of passing plays) as an incompletion +. Considering that the offensive penalties also incur loss of yardage, their consequences outweigh defensive pass interference/holding (particularly in college where these penalties have limited yardage).

But, more to your point, there are bad things that can happen when you run the ball too, namely holding, fumble, etc. Also, a good result in passing generally results in more yardage than a good result in running. So, I'm not sure running outweighs passing that much, but I'd still rather be a proficient running team than a proficient passing team.

A decent scrambling QB can more than offset negative penalty/sack yardage. I call all that a wash. But I think the spirit of the quote was what happens when the ball is in the air. The offensive penalties, scrambling, sacks, etc. are not a "result" of the ball in the air.

Don't get me wrong, I love running. I like the Triple Option. I like the Veer. I like the Power I. Student body right. Etc. I just hate that quote.

That female is Woody Hayes, genius.

Oh, and I'll take GSU, 56-41. Something tells me Heinicke is going to throw an INT. Oh and GSU wants another go at the Bison.
