Huh? The Keeler hire was exciting - former Hen, brash, cocky, had been to a slew of national title games while at Rowan (admittedly, not winning any of them) and a guy who just won year in and year out. There was a lot of excitement about Keeler taking over and it paid off two seasons later with the lifting of the trophy in Chatty. Heck, I remember the Spring game that first year had something like 6k people there and it was a happening. That ain't gonna happen this time.
Brock may end up being a very successful coach, but like I said, what ails the Blue Hen football program has little to do with the product on the field.
Gannon is right on. 89 you've been in touch with your feminine side way too long apparently. After watching the sludge of the end of the Tubby era there was a great deal of excitement, optimism & curiousity with KC coming in. The offense most fans UD grew up with was gone & we went 21st century ditching the Wing-T. KC talked a great game & delivered early on. '02-'04 were good times for him, then the roller coaster began.
I will disagree wit GF on one thing, part of the ail of Blue Hen football the past 5-6 years has been what goes on between the white lines - the Hens need to get better & win more games, period.

I didn't say what goes on between the white line didn't matter (believe my quote was it had "little to do" with the product on the field), it's just that even a successful Hens team isn't going to bring back the fans that have left in droves and it won't come close to "reinvigorating" the fanbase. Tickets cost too much, restrictions on everything are too onerous, the place just feels dead and increasingly emptier, and there's certainly a fatigue when it comes to who we play and where we are in the bigger athletic universe. None of that changes with this hire, regardless of how well or how poorly he does.
I know press conferences mean diddly squat, but that was one of the more boring I've ever seen. That was just a slight notch better than an Andy Reid presser.
Brock, buddy, I hope you surprise me, because you've underwhelmed me so far.
The issue being that the Temple and Rutgers offenses were terrible, and K-state was I guess what you can call mediocre looking at the point totals. I guess this guy is a good interview. As 93' said he just seems so bland and vanilla, just like his offense at Rutgers.

The guy wasn't a good interview...he didn't have to interview. And anyone who actuallly did interview wasn't given a real shot at the job.
There was no "national" search for a new coach at Delaware...it was all a sham. Z-daddy reached out to Brock...and the decision was made before anyone had applied for the job. It is a complete disgrace to anyone associated with the University that those who came in to actually interview were wasting their time.
Congrats to Z-daddy...his first major event at Delaware was a pre-planned cluster fvck decision...and he intentionally lied to the fans and everyone involved about the interview process.

And....Gannonfan.... "everything is just fine with me".....has discovered a 5-year lapse... amazing!!!
How dare this Boston College cabal take over Blue Hen- atopia.
Keeler...gone! West Chester...gone. What will we do??????
What will "we" do?
Well, you'll probably just go watch the next Temple-Nova game...or maybe watch your local AAAA teams lose in the playoffs.
But hey, you can always come up with some psychotic ramble about why you believe someone else should not be using a username. I still have some of your idiotic posts/PMs saved...such proud moments.
Cripes, what kind of retard tries to represent every northern Hen fan (even ones who don't bother to watch the games)?

There has to be some great back story about this.

Delaware officials have removed a large picture of Keeler leading the Blue Hens onto the field at the NCAA title game in Frisco, Texas, two years ago from the UD locker room.
It almost feels like they are trying to rid themselves of all things Keeler...I don't know how I feel about that...

Yeah, that's just stupid, and seemingly vengeful on the part of Ziady and/or Harker. I'm eager to find out what KC did to piss them off so badly. I mean, I was as vocal as anyone else about his inconsistency, but I didn't hate the man.
Keeler is no longer the face of the program and it makes little sense to have his image as the first thing you see when you walk into the locker room. It's really that simple folks.

Ok then, so maybe they should remove all references to Tubby then, since he's "no longer the face of the program".
Sounds like Zman wants to bring the dawning of a new era to UD athletics...

There's tons more pictures of that game sans Keeler. This makes sense.

The Era of Ziady: empty seats, antiquated facilities, mediocre coaching and high prices.
The "back story" is that the illustrious "Cluck U" and other assorted GoHens azzkissers are feeling a void. The pizza joint in Newark .....Klondike Kate's...is where Keeler held his monthly confab where "Cluck U' had a front row seat and led the KC Klan in admiration of all things Keeler.
How dare UD ruin the idolatry of the idiots.
And...to think.. that the FBS AD would actually hire an FBS assistant coach???
Shame! DIII Rowan is a much better criteria.
What's next...no more Duquesne and Bucknell on the schedule? (A few of us refused to attend such cupcakes and instead opted for other games near Newark on the same weekend... such as Temple vs Villanova. How dare we not participate in the annual Keeler resume builder games!!)

Don't be a simpleton. Nobody is removing all references to Keeler. It's a freakin picture, and he's not the coach anymore...he was fired. His image shouldn't be the first thing you see when you enter the locker room.
I'm sure there are plenty of visuals to represent the past glories of UD football without depending on the self-glorification shrine put up by Keeler.
Did they save the "Look At Me Keeler Mural"? Might look good mounted on one of the big dumpsters under the Tub seats.

I suppose Klondike Kate's qualifies as more than a "pizza joint" although it does advertise itself as a "Pizza Paradise" with , of course, its signature "KC Cobb salad". Anyone see the Porsche parked out front lately?
