UND Schedule....W.T.F.????

On paper UND's schedule looks ideal but other than Valpo it really is a crap shoot. A lot of tough teams. The SDSU game will be a true measuring stick for the program. If we can get our defense in order then this could be an interesting year.

Also I am very curious why many people are picking Sac St to beat UND? Last year, with our porous defense, we went there and beat them handily 35-13.

Did Sac get some big transfers or something?

Ignore SuperHornet...

It thinks Liberty and Sac St would beat any NCAA team except Montana....who would beat most NFL teams...but none of the women league teams

Not just SuperGriz, but MV and EWU Ranger also had them picked over UND.

7 home games. 4 road games, 3 of which are potentially against three of the worst teams in the conference....they get every tough game at home (Montana, MSU, EWU, Sac State) with the exception of NAU. They get to play both patsies (ISU/UNC)...SIX of their first SEVEN games at HOME??? OOC they get a gimme in Valpo and a MWFC cellar-dweller in SDSU...BOTH at home...

If they don't go 8-3 with that schedule something is wrong.

WTF, Z? Scheduling like Montana and Youngstown do.

Not unless their defense has vastly improved since last year. SDSU has a very good Oline and ZZ will get a ton of carries in that game. I'd be surprised if SDSU doesn't win by 2 TDs.

They definitely have the schedule to do that with 7 home games. They have UM,MSU and EWU all at home this year. You would think they would win at least one of those games.

If they would play NDSU in the playoffs in the FD, that would be an epic game for sure.

If they are able to beat the Jacks then I say they will make the playoffs with that schedule........but their D would have to improve vastly from last year to beat the Bunnies. SDSU plays smashmouth just like NDSU and that is where the UNDies sucked the worst last year....stopping the run. Unless their run D steps it up a huge notch Zenner will go for over 200 against them. Although with that favorable schedule and the expanded playoff field this will be their best chance of seeing the playoffs in the next few years IMHO. The SDSU game will definitely be a good measuring stick to see where they are at......if they win or at least keep it close(td or less)I think they will have a decent shot at an at large bid, but if Zenner runs wild and they lose by 14 plus, I say the best they do is about six wins. I also don't think they win any against MSU, UM and EWU even if they are at home, but as they say "that is why they play the games"

Well, if you're right about their run D then they should struggle with NAU as well...especially at 7000 feet.

NAU is no sure win either....I agree. There D has to be better than last year, just a matter of how much. I'm too lazy to look up the stats, but I think they were giving up and average of 30 plus points or something near that....I could be wrong though....somebody look that up.

OK I was curious so I looked it up....if you take out the 66-0 drubbing of South Dakota Tech the UND D gave up an average of 38 points a game!! Instead of the Steel Curtain, more like the Lint Curtain

UND could make some noise in the BSC this year.

Mollberg is like Roethlisberger...big and strong.

If they get their defense in order they could make the playoffs.

A tough battle between the two redshirt freshman, but Bartels is getting the starting job over Mollberg.

All along, the UND football coaching staff has said both Ryan Bartels and Joe Mollberg will see playing time at quarterback in the season opener Thursday night against Valparaiso in the Alerus Center. But someone has to be labeled the starter. On Friday, UND coach Chris Mussman said Bartels has received that designation.

After a tight battle throughout fall camp, Mussman opted to go with the redshirt freshman from Sycamore, Ill.
“We chart every throw and it’s really close,” Mussman said. “We thought in the end that Ryan had a slight edge. We had to make a decision and that’s the decision we’ll go with.”

Bartels, a 6-foot-3 right-hander, won the competition out of fall camp due to his strong arm and sound decision-making.

UND is playing both SDSU and Montana in the second part of a home and home that's how we got 7 home games or else if SDSU was a 1 and done UND would most likely be at an FBS game. This is the only year since joining in DI in 2008 that we don't play an FBS team. It's weird that Montana is at UND in 2014 since UM was at UND last year.
