SBU (3-4/1-3) @ Maine (7-1/4-0) 12:30 PM. The 1st of 4 games with major playoff implications for both teams. SBU loses, they are officially eliminated from playoff contention. Maine needs to win to keep their hopes of a top 4 seed, homefield through at least the quarterfinals alive.

UNH (4-3/3-1) @ W&M (5-3/2-2) 1:00 PM. The 2nd of 4 games with major playoff implications for both teams. Winner still solidly in the hunt, the loser is on the ropes.

URI (3-6/2-4) @ ODU (5-3), 2:00 PM

VU (4-4/3-2) @ JMU (5-3/2-2) 2:30 PM (CSN MA, CSN-P, CSN NE). 3rd of 4 games with major playoff implications for both teams. If VU loses they are officially eliminated from playoff contention. If JMU loses they are on the ropes.

Albany (1-7/0-4) @ UR (2-6/0-4) 4:00 PM

UD (6-2/3-1) @ TU (8-1/4-1) 7:00 PM. 4th game with major playoff implications for both teams. UD needs to win out to get a top 8 seed. TU needs to win to keep their hopes of a top 4 seed, homefield through at least the quarterfinals alive.

Bye: None

Maine 38, SBU 13

W&M 24, UNH 20

Offense, Defense Unnecessary 59, URI 24

JMU 20, VU 17. @ JMU. JMU is 5-0 at home, 0-3 on road. But VU is the best 4-4 team in the country, with a BCS loss and 3 losses by a combined 6 points to 3 teams that have a combined 19-4 record, Given what happened last week, and that Dae'Quan Scott is questionable with an ankle injury, this is a homer pick here.

UR 34, Albany 20. UR wins in the battle of the two 0-4 in the CAA cellar dwellers.

TU 38, UD 24.

Interesting nugget on the UNH @ W&M game. McDonnell is 1-9 vs Laycock. That includes 3 seasons when UNH was a playoff team and W&M wasn’t. McDonnell’s only win? Last season when a UNH playoff team beat an 0-8 in the CAA W&M team by only 3 points at home. And this game is @ W&M. Laycock owns McDonnell. Just saying.

01’ W&M 38, UNH 28 (W&M playoffs)
02’ W&M 34, UNH 27
03’ W&M 38, UNH 28
04’ W&M 9, UNH 7 (both teams playoffs)
05’ W&M 42, UNH 10 (UNH playoffs)
08’ W&M 38, UNH 34 (UNH playoffs)
09’ W&M 20, UNH 17 (both teams playoffs)
10’ W&M 13, UNH 3 (both teams playoffs)
11’ W&M 24, UNH 10 (UNH playoffs)
12’ UNH 28, W&M 25 (UNH playoffs)

I wouldn't be surprised if Albany pulls one out his week. We've been making improvements weekly. If we get any kind of consistent QB play we'll be in the game with a chance to win.

Towson 40 hens 34 - just don't think we can make enough stops on defense, hope i'm wrong
Maine 35 stony brook 16 - maine locks up a playoff bid
New hampshire 28 william&mary 23 - bill and mary eliminated from playoff contention
Old dominion 62 rhode island 28 - ugliest game on schedule
Albany 28 richmond 24 - 2nd ugliest game on schedule
James madison 31 villanova 30 - goodbye to nova's playoff dreams
Towson, maine are playoff locks. Group of 3 teams still possible for playoffs.
Delaware- hens need to go 2-2, finish 8-4, lock, 7-5 no chance in hell.
Jmu- need to win 3 of 4, finish 8-4, lock. 7-5 also no chance in hell.
New hampshire- win all four, finish 8-3, lock. Go 3-1, finish 7-4, 60-40 against making it.

Maine 34 StB 14 - Black Bears keep growling
W&M 24 UNH 21 - Tight one in Burg, don't think this is UNH's year
ODU 34 URI 13 - Two teams going nowhere this year
Nova 21 JMU 14 - Two teams in turmoil, both banged up, but VU can still score
UR 27 Albany 17 - Any team more disappointing than the Spiders?
TU 40 UD 30 - Hens have matched up with Tigers well but lack the near perfect game they need

Make that now 1-10....W&M defense is for real. They're # 1 in the CAA in Total Defense, #1 in the CAA in Scoring Defense (both whether or not you use all games or CAA games only). #1 in the nation in scoring defense....Now I don't feel so bad about JMU only putting up 7 on them.

The stats have been updated, but John Robertston came in to the game avg 139 yds a game I think it was rushing. He'd avg 161 in 5 CAA games, including going over 200 in the previous 3. In typical Mickey fashion, he'd proclaimed Robertson earlier in the week to be the best QB to come into Bridgeforth stadium in 15 years since Mickey had been at JMU. Against JMU: 17 carries, 46 yds. I think VU came into the game avg 246 rushing, 259 in CAA games. JMU held them to 146. Outstanding job by the JMU defense for the 2nd week in a row. :notworthy:

He'd been completing 77% of his passes in CAA games. Against JMU 20-37, 2 TDs, 1 INT (pick 6 for 87 yds in 4th qtr that put JMU up 31-14 and sealed the game for JMU). Granted VU had 3 of their top 4 rceivers out, but still. JMU sacked him 7 times. Best game by the JMU DL all season.. :notworthy:

Stephon Roberston (no relation to John Robertson) had another MONSTER game. A lot of hits on his brother from another mother. After last week, 15 tackles, 5 for loss, this week he had 16 tackles, 2 for loss, 2 sacks. :notworthy: Didn't get CAA Defensive Player of the week for the 4th time. They gave it to Luke Rhodes from W&M who had 13 tackles. Guess they can't give it to Stephon every week...

Birdsong, after having his worst game of the season against W&M (credit the W&M defense) maybe had his best. 20 for 29, 207 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT, 0 fumbles. (JMU had zero turnovers). Had 3 balls that were flat out dropped, including two 20+ yd passes...Threw 3 perfect long balls. One was caught for 50 yds. 1 was for a TD. 1 was dropped, likely would have been a TD...

Tribe will go as far as the defense can carry them, I guess. On a completely unrelated note, we will miss the battles with JMU once they go to FBS. I still don't totally understand ODU, JMU, App. St., Georgia Southern, and UMass going FBS. It is a super long way from going FBS to competing at the highest level. However, best of luck. It was fun competing with JMU for a national title in 2004 and we enjoyed many other great battles too. I only wonder if beating East Carolina or Tulane to go 8-3 in a few years will mean as much as the 2004 National Championship or the win at VA Tech back in 2009. I guess teams are changing conferences all over the country. But, it is not a bad place to be Delaware or Villanova(an annual FCS title contender) with reasonable rivalries in all other sports. From the postings I read though, it seems like most fans want to go. Not sure that ODU has enjoyed its first year as much as they did last season.
