What happened in 2011?

Oh that season. 2011 was a transition period, and Nova lost games by 20+ points if i remember correctly. It should be interesting this year with Robertson running at a historic pace. I offered Cluck this option before, but would be intrigued to know what y'all think.

Over/under 200 rushing yards for Robertson?

And I respect UD fans immensely due to their rabid fandom that Nova clearly does not have. But that being said, please do not take shots at Nova's bball team, b/c it won't end well. :kisswink:

Delaware is pretty close to that level of suckitude in basketball.

I don't mind though. I've never liked basketball anyway, and that's the troof!

Would love to see it change and we have a good coach and finally some good players. Add ODU and VCU leaving the conference and everyone has a shot this year. At least until COC gets acclimated.

Tribe pride. -- I know this goes back awhile but I seem to recollect the son of Paul Arizin (nova nba hall of famer) went to W & M for a year or two and had a rally good freshman year. No tourney bid? Guess there weren't as many teams in tourney back then Mike Arizin.

nova "overscheduled?"

The only thing nova did with that 11 game schedule is prevent another loss.

CAA favorites...and then into the trash can. :thumb:

"Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh, but we lost close ones and the computers say we should have won." Well, they don't give style points for missed FGs either, and they can't help it if you have a stupid coach and some seriously underperforming players.

No wonder nova fans are looking back into past years to try to find some relevance...they are drawing dead with no hope of playoffs and no excuse for compiling such a losing record. Getting into the playoffs at 6-5? :o 93 called it...nova fans are seriously stupid these days...lowered standards as a result of the Big East recruiting efforts.

Don't be jealous, nova fan...er...fans (all two or three of them). Tub North will be empty of nova fans as they've given up hope for their team. The nova "fans" will be too busy with Saturday afternoon reruns of "I confess", "The Bells of Saint Mary's", or, for the daring, "The Mission." :coffee:

If UD loses to Richmond I put the PPL attendance over/under at 11,500.

UD is not losing to Richmond. UD has beaten everyone it was supposed to and lost to everyone it was supposed to with the exception of the upset of Towson (I forget if JMU was a betting favorite before UD beat them). The Richmond game will likely be tight, but UD will win. The Nova game will be interesting, as UD will likely have a playoff berth wrapped up with 8 DI wins, but a 9th would be nice insurance. Nova is a beaten-up, underachieving, playoff-eliminated team, but they will be rested coming off a bye, eager to avoid a losing season, and well-coached by Talley, so the game will obviously be a challenge for UD.

Regardless of the hypotheticals, your attendance prediction sounds about right.

I will take the over on the attendance but not with a lot of confidence. Last game at PPL was 14,107 and the Cats were in the midst of their worst year for quite some time. Delaware was having a similar year with slim playoff hopes if I recall correctly. Might have been a little more excitement for the venue and the potential for moving to FBS back then though.

The Hens are a solid touchdown favorite against Richmond. They are at home and have a better offense. They should outscore the Spiders even though Richmond has started to play better recently ( How did they lose to URI?)

I thought you were a Sagarin devotee? If so, Richmond should beat UD. But then again, so should have Towson and JMU. :coffee:

I think the computer rankings are useful. I don't have any devotion to them. Maybe Sagarin is right and 93 Hen fan is wrong? He cracks me up.

More fun with Sagarin:

Illinois State higher rated than Montana State
William and Mary higher rated than Eastern Washington
Villanova higher rated than Maine
Southern Illinois higher rated than Montana
Liberty higher rated than Northern Arizona
Stony Brook higher rated than Delaware
Dartmouth higher rated than Lehigh

FBS:
Wisconsin higher rated than Ohio State

Just have a gut feeling a Richmond team playing better is gonna find a way to beat UD this week.

You need to look a little deeper to find the various computer rankings useful. It's not about comparing one team against one other team in one source.

For instance, Sagarin has Richmond only slightly ahead of Delaware. Dunkel, Massey and the GPI Index have Delaware rated higher than Richmond. So, if all you wanted to look at as a devotee of the computer rankings you would have Delaware rated as a favorite here.

I'm just telling you why I think they are useful. I don't have the time or inclination to watch every game even though I love football. The computer rankings are a way to take all the games into account which none of us have the time to do. They are not perfect and I do not claim that they are.

Fair enough. You stated that you think Delaware will be a solid touchdown favorite over Richmond. 5 Dimes, the only FCS oddsmaker I am aware of, has not yet opened their line on the game, but I bet the line will be under 7 points. I'll predict an opening line of UD -2.5.

That line wouldn't surprise me. I just think Delaware will outscore them and win by a touchdown.

The problem I have with some of those is that OSU already beat Wisconsin and Maine beat Villanova.

Of course, Sagarin is totally right on W&M over Eastern Washington.

Maine only beat Nova by 2... and Fordham only beat us by 3....BC by 10..... and UNH by 1.... and our wins were by an average of 23. How can a team lose every close game they are in? SO FRUSTRATING! :? :x

Tribe---- I can see W&M beating EWU with that defense. Seems to be improving as well. The Delaware game was very impressive.

They don't give out lowercase "l"'s for close losses and capital "L"'s for nig losses, they are still losses. Plus you somehow lost to JMU as well. When you have 5 losses before November, it just means you aren't all that good.

W&M lost 6 of 7 games decided by a TD or less last year. Yes, it's frustrating, but you know you are THIS CLOSE to being back on top again.

Yeah, guess you're right about the little l and capital L stuff. But, hey it's better than getting dominated and run off the field by much superior opponents. But I would just have to guess at that not having experienced it this year. Maybe you can elaborate on the feeling as you should be an expert by now. ;)

Hope we come back as strong as you did this year. Good luck against Towson, RIchmond and in the playoffs.

1. Maine- clearly the class of the conference.
2. Towson- great running game, defense is problmatic for deep playoff run.
3. William&mary- tribe proved me wrong the last 3 weeks, impressive run.
4. Delaware- 1-1 still should assure a playoff bid.
5. New hampshire- a serious long shot, but still breathing.
6. James madison- still alive, but head to head losses to hens and tribe may keep the dukes home.
7. Villanova- too many close losses ruin wildcats season.
8. Stony brook- first CAA season a mighty struggle.
9. Richmond- spiders offense is coming alive late in a dissapointing season.
10. Albany- no quit in the danes, gave another good fight last week.
11. Rhode island- at least albany has shown a heartbeat late in the season.

Bad news for Hen fans. The SRS is being used by the selection committee from what I understand. Hope for Nova fans. Also, from what I understand the committee will be considering teams with 6 wins for the first time this year!

For those that don't want to open the spreadsheet the top 10 for SRS are:

1 NDSU
2 EIU
3 SELA
4 EWU
5 Nova
6 Towson
7 McNeese St
8 UNI
9 Coastal Carolina
10 Maine
