right recovery...the game went just fine right
Nope, we lost, we recovered from the loss nicely! I couldn't help but notice that you never answered my question, tho!

Never wanted to get into a discussion about recovery. Never wanted to get in a war with montana fans either. Just wanted to say that im bummed that NAU didnt get the seed, but I completely understand why. Maybe if PSU wins, they have to give it to us?

I understand :thumb: It is a crappy deal for NAU but Montana didn't exactly come out smelling like roses. Several teams ranked behind the Griz passed them in the seedings.

Btw, for all you EWU fans that think NAU should be seeded because they beat Montana, then, I think SHSU deserves YOUR seed. Seems logical to me. :coffee:

Oh...so the fact that Montana is ahead of NAU in ALL of the polls, strength of schedule, GPI, etc. etc. etc. means nothing...check logic, indeed! The head to head game is the only thing that matters :thumb: SHSU #3 seed - NAU #8 that should settle it!

But both teams played 11 Division 1 opponents. I don't think playing the Okie Finokies is enough of a justification for giving UM the seed over NAU who had the same number of DI wins, a better conference record, and a win in the HTH over the Griz. But it is what it is. Griz fans should feel very fortunate.

Had the lumberjacks played a similar cupcake, putting them at 12 games and Possibly 10-2 then they would be ahead of the griz. But they didn't.

And it could be argued that had NAU had Montana's schedule (which is much tougher) NAU would NOT BE 9-2.

I personally believe Montana is much better than NAU. Also NAU could crumble like cookies in these playoffs and in Montana's case... That's much less likely.

If a win over OPSURCC was the deciding factor, then the selection committee should be fired.

You could argue it, but can you prove it?

I personally think Montana is MUCH, MUCH better than EWU, and would have gone 12-0 with EWU's schedule.

Go NAU on Saturday...make the Big Sky proud
I'll be cheering for you

EWU on the other hand should be concerned.
I watched the game with PSU and with over 600 yards against your defense and 5 sacks
do you think you ended the year in a positive way?
What happened?

I would be more concerned about how NAU looked against SUU, UNC & Idaho State to close out the year.

48-27, 24-7 and 20-10 against a good SUU team is closing out the year bad?? :ohno:

Hey, I already conceded - SHSU #3 seed & NAU #8 seed  Works for me :thumb:

1.) EWU and SHSU did not have close to the same records when all was said and done. Conversely, the HTH argument works perfectly when comparing teams with a comparable W/L record. In this case, UM and NAU.

2.) NAU had a better conference record than UM and finished #2 in the Big Sky with only one conference loss.

3.) NAU beat Montana handily in head to head competition.

4.) NAU went 2-0 against playoff teams (UM and SUU), while UM went 0-2 (EWU and NAU).

This isn't hard to figure out, folks. UM fans, just be gracious beneficiaries of the gift the NCAA gave you, and move on. When you have to start relying on ridiculous/illogical arguments to prove your point it's because the easiest and most logical ones to argue for don't support your case. Mainly, the HTH and conference standing.

PSU always plays us tough, and is near the top of the Big Sky in offensive production. They ran a lot of trick plays which kept our defense off-balance and generally had an excellent game plan that they executed very well for the majority of the game. They also minimized penalties, which has been their achilles heel all year long, and ultimately why they're a 6-6 squad as opposed to a 8-4 or 9-3. As for what happened - we won, did you not see the score?

BTW, we also sacked their QB 5 or 6 times. It was just one of those games.

There are some people going "full retard" but it aint Griz fans  the Griz had a better record, finished higher in ALL the polls, as well as having a higher Sagarin and RPI...get a fvcking clue. :coffee:
The polls don't mean shit when it comes to seeding. In 2010, EWU was ranked #1 in EVERY FCS poll. They got the #5 seed going into the playoffs.

Interesting. I recall people saying it was a good game. I don't recall anyone saying it was a good win, although I suppose you could say it was a good win for EWU because it allowed us to finish undefeated in the Big Sky and earn the #3 seed. Not going to apologize for winning...

A good win would be against playoff bound teams. NAU has two of those, so does EWU. Montana went 0-2 against other playoff bound teams in the Big Sky.

The NCAA SRS thing has them at 8. Sagarin has them at 11. Massey has them at 8. The composite of ratings thing has them at 6. Whatever's going on it's clear that the NCAA is not "out there" in considering them a top 8 seed.

Glad to see this "thing" was worked out and everyone is now in agreement.
NAU & Montana both deserved seeds and it was McNeese State that slid in unfairly. Darn Cowboys! :ugeek:

You can't REALLY give NAU credit for their conf record bc they didn't play the conference champion. And don't say oh nobody played everybody. That's obvious guy, point is southern Utah did and lost, msu did and lost, um did and lost so chances are if u replace EWU with one of the many conf cakes NAU played THEY WOULDNT BE 7-1 in conf. Amirite Ranger??
