Hence the aforementioned posts where I have alluded that you (and nobody else is either) NDSU. I noticed on AGS how many of the NDSU fans were blown away by Zenner's speed. Then I realized....they had never seen it before.
This is probably the play that opened up our eyes to just how good this kid might be, his first start as a Sophomore. Granted it was Kansas, but still fun to watch.....

No, I get what you're saying... Eastern has not faced a real power-running game like SDSU. That is an interesting test. Clearly, if the Eagle D can handle it, Eastern wins. If they don't, they lose. Plain and simple.
But back to the North Dakota State game... it's not the total yards (4!!!) that blows me away, it's that they never even tried to run him. Why 8 carries? It appears from the recap that the game was relatively close all the way through, so it's not like the Rabbits were getting run off the field and needed to play long ball to catch up. Why did they abandon their bread and butter? It just seems really odd.
Zenner only running 8 times would be like Vernon Adams only throwing 8 passes for Eastern. It just seems like that would never happen in a close game where the player was healthy.

And I'm even more convinced of that after I watched the way they were able to sack NAU quarterbacks 7 times without blitzing. And sometimes while rushing three. They can bring the heat big time without having to blitz. I didn't know that before watching them last night but now I do.
After watching that I wouldn't even favor EWU trying to run a passing offense against them if they didn't have a mobile quarterback. But they do. And that's what I think is going to save their bacon.
Not saying SDSU's front 7 isn't good because clearly they are, but NAU 1) not having a mobile QB, 2) not having their starting QB, and 3) not having their HC also had a lot to do with SDSU having 7 sacks.

it is an interesting point. It was the week after Nebraska. There were hints that ZZ was pulled off Nebraska, not only because the game was getting out of hand but also that he was dinged up. our coaches also have don't bang your head against a brick wall mentality. Run game wasnt going so they tried to open it up with the pass. Also with 3 and outs you have less plays to work with. NDSU is rock solid anyone who disregards that or even thinks they are not, might as well forfeit to them now.

And being from the big fluffy they sure haven't faced a defense that is the the closest thing comparable to NDSUs.
