Re: Ranking the Remaining Playoff Teams
A tip of the hat to JSU and EIU getting it done in the playoffs so far. And JSU's lofty rankings in pass efficiency D (6th) and sacks (4th) are not only impressive but couple that with the offensive matchup problems they bring against EWU in a solid rushing team with a mobile QB and I think this is a much more troubling matchup than SDSU was.jcfrancis wrote:Please, show me one untrue comment. This is my opinion of the rankings (just like everyone else has, like it or not), but at least I can provide some insight into what I think instead of just "blah da blah EWU is the best…blah da blah…OVC sucks." Give me evidence to consider.
That being said, and forgive me for being a dick, but name me the quality wins outside of EIU, that the OVC has this year? How has JSU faired against high powered passing offenses. How have they competed against high powered passing offenses that run it 50% of the time and with success? How are they against the run?

NDSU
UNH
Towson
SELO
EIU
EWU
Coastal
JSU
Towson needs to stop being stupid. Cripes, they were crushing Fordham and then had stupid play after stupid paly to let the Rams back in the game. Of course, in the end, they crushed Fordham anyway, but really, when is Towson going to play an entire game up to their potential? They'll get burnt against EIU if they bring their stupid hats again...just avoid the silly personal fouls and this should be a Towson win.
EWU gets the weakest quarterfinal game...no way JSU gets to this game in another bracket.
SELO looked good at times, but was held in check for most of the second half...and UNH is on a roll (and probably won't play a prevent defense).
It will be interesting to watch NDSU try to handle a passing team for the first time in 3 years of playoffs. Coastal will need to run a bit to prevent the Bison from teeing off on the QB. Not sure Coastal will make the right calls to keep their O on the field...and their D has zero ability to stop the Bison (or anyone else).

Kalm, you are not being any type of jerk. You are correct that the resume of JSU is not that of other teams, and thus I placed them lower that EWU. I never mentioned anything regarding JSU in previous comments. I think it could be a good game between the two this weekend. If JSU can control the ball and keep Adams off the field, they have a chance.
The post you quoted of me was pointed to your fellow EWU fan that simpy said "try again, Francis." There are several EWU fans that simply make comments like that but never present a counter-argument. Of course, I am a person that appreciates research and healthy debate.

Sweet jeebus, I know. Our special teams crapped the bed in the first half. But the great thing about mistakes—even though it's the playoffs and that stuff shouldn't happen—is that if you do live to fight another week, you can fix them.Cluck U wrote:Towson needs to stop being stupid. If we are running on all cylinders and our receiving corps (hit with the loss of the top two targets to injury) keep stepping up, EIU is gonna have a bad time. If our secondary isn't ready for Garoppolo—another very good QB, like Nebrich—it'll be a long night at the office. Then again, since the Delaware game (sigh) our defense has been very, very good all around.
Bonus take: Fordham did their homework on West (like Garoppolo, a Payton finalist), but it only got them so far. That kid has some awesome vision and the steam to turn nothing into something. I remember one play where he turned a run up the middle to an end-around and a score. And the offense so often assumed we'd give to him, we were very successful faking the handoff and giving Athens all day to throw.

Fair enough JC. Just keep in mind we're the red turfed step child of FCS. We sometimes get kinda chippy.jcfrancis wrote:Kalm, you are not being any type of jerk. Re: Ranking the Remaining Playoff Teams
C'mon, that doesn't count...as has already been noted in other threads. Lehigh's #1 receiver was not eligible to play...there was a circus around the whole incident which was a huge distraction for the team...Lehigh panicked, and Lehigh simply wasn't very good. Part of the was NDSU exposing them, but Lehigh lost before they stepped on the field.Bison Fan in NW MN wrote:Close but Lehigh in '11 passed a lot in that game.Cluck U wrote:NDSU

Coastal has a better offense than that Lehigh team, so this should help NDSU get ready for what they might face down the line. However, Coastal has no D...and that will painfully dictate their fate in that game.
