Towson @ Eastern Illinois
Re: Towson @ Eastern Illinois
Why apologize? They are a good team that got beat beat. I do believe the field conditions didn't help, but that is no excuse for the defense. I will never apologize for my guys. You won't either.

Re: Towson @ Eastern Illinois
Watching a team that was head and ankles above everybody else in the OVC get physically manhandled like that makes it even more humiliating to have seen McNeese lose by 21 points to the third place team from that conference. The Cowboys were gifted with by far the easiest opponent among those taken on by the 8 seeds in the first round and just totally imploded Very embarassing for them to have lost to Jacksonville State much less lost by 21 points. It was one thing when McNeese got handled by Big Sky and CAA teams during it's previous 4 playoff games since the losing streak started . Having had them lose to a team that finished one game over 0.500 in the OVC while losing to Tennessee State by 20 and to Illinois State by 38 is...well...just flat out intolerable.
I think we found out last night that the OVC is still the OVC and Samford as well as McNeese State ought to be ashamed of themselves.
I could be proven wrong tonight when Jacksonville State takes on Eastern Washington. But my expectation is that it's going to be a complete mismatch and Eastern Washington is going to be able to name its score.
I don't think the score reflected how physically dominant Towson was in that game last night. And that was a team that was light years better than anybody else in the OVC.

They need to do something about including SOS in the selection process. This year some very weak teams made the playoffs as at large selections. If you thought EIU was one of the best teams in the country, you've pretty much missed everything the whole season.jcfrancis wrote:Well, folks, enjoy the rest of the playoffs today. I will be on the road all day and miss everything.
That game, again, was not as close as the score. Towson wins 10 out of 10 games.

EIU did well scoring two unanswered TDs. But once Towson turned on the burners....it was over.Cluck U wrote:If you thought EIU was one of the best teams in the country, you've pretty much missed everything the whole season.jcfrancis wrote:Well, folks, enjoy the rest of the playoffs today. This is what we should expect from the school that produced Tony Romo.

Fact is the OVC is shit and someone from the OVC finally had to play big boy ball...and it showed.jcfrancis wrote:As stated, again, Towson's line has been the difference. I still have not seen EIU play this undisiplined in regards to gaps and assignments.

No offense fellas, but if JSU wins, the next game is at Unitas. I really don't care who wins either way.

Oh really? Want to back up and try making a prediction again?

Towson showed who is the real "tiger" last night, and in the process put to rest the myth that EIL and OVC football is anything special.

Ain't it the truth. TU proved it last night big time.

Another early exit for the bullshit conferences.
We continue to hear bias this and that, and it is unfounded. Now you know why we scoff at posters from the bullshit conferences.

The great thing about playoff football is generally the cream will rise to the top. A 'questionable' team may be able to mask their deficiencies for a game (or two) in the playoffs, but ultimately the good teams (and good coaches) will reach the quarters- and semi-finals.Cluck U wrote:If you thought EIU was one of the best teams in the country, you've pretty much missed everything the whole season.
I suspect most folks realized back in Sept that Eastern likely would struggle to win against the Big Boys from the power conferences, and that what remained on their schedule could be fairly judged as 'East Street' ...
BUT, they had a great year, and there ain't no shame in losing to Towson by 10.

The OVC got a gift to get their first win since 1999 this year when they had TSU get Butler. The OVC was gifted a second win when EIU was given the winner of the TSU/Butler game.
CCU is a good team but Montana wasn't what their record showed they were.
Jacksonville State shocked me with beating McNeese State but then again I watched UNI throttle McNeese by 35 (41-6) and pulled the starters midway through the 4th and pulled the foot off the gas in the third. MSU didn't score until late in the third when UNI already had a 24-0 lead. However, they are about to get throttled by the only "real" team out of the Big Sky.
