Refs didn't help EWU out in this one.
Towson, with a back up QB, and everyone knowing they were going to have to run the ball, ran the ball against the helpless Eagles' defense, and scored to get within three. 15 plays, three attempted passes (with two incompletes and a sack), with 12 runs that produced a MINIMUM of 3 yards. Towson simply pushed the Eagle players out of the way. That is straight up physical domination of the Eagles' soft D line that was worn out and quitting. The poor Eagle players were ground into mush.
Then, Towson, with a back up QB, and little time left, marched down the field with a passing offense against the Eagles soft pass defense, and a D-line that was too tired and physically outmanned to generate any serious threat, then powered (that replay is a fantastic display of men against boys), into the end zone. Cripes, the left side of Towson's line pushed those little Eaglets several yards out of the way.
THAT was the domination everyone knew was coming.
Hey, if Athens didn't get hurt, Towson walks away with a 3 TD victory. As it was, it took Towson a couple series to adapt and realize the EWU wasn't able to stop them anyway, and they just rammed it down the Eagles' throats in front of their demoralized fans.
Anyway, Adams was proven to be a fraud, and Towson simply knocked EWU out of the way when it counted.
Congrats Towson...you manned up and took out the Eagle frauds. Hopefully, next year, the committee will put overrated EWU on the road where they belong.
