Check out this kid. He broke his leg in a football game over a year ago and they had to amputate it from the knee down. Played his senior year. What guts!!! :thumb:
Good story, thanks for sharing. Hope he makes it. :thumb:

Weber State adds 34 student-athletes for 2014 football signing class
OGDEN, Utah -- Jay Hill, in his first year as head coach at Weber State, made a splash with his first signing class. Hill signed 34 student-athletes to join the Wildcat program Wednesday as part of National Signing Day.
A total of 21 of the 34 signings are from the state of Utah. WSU also added five players each from Idaho and California, and one each from Arizona, Nevada and Texas. This year’s signing class has a mix of all positions with 17 players on defense and 17 on offense.
“We are really excited and pleased with the players we have signed,” Hill said. “We were able to get two or three players at every position that can come in and help us. Getting players out of the state of Utah is also a priority for us. We felt there was a really good class from Utah this year and we were able to get a lot of them.”

Just about, I heard Weber had a bunch of scholarships to give when JLS cut scholarships from a lot of kids who were on missions. I hear that there is actually a 35th kid, but they cannot announce him till the
'paperwork" is done. From what I have seen it's a pretty good class, cant wait to see them on the field.

Sacramento State
The group is comprised of 14 defensive players and nine on the offensive side of the ball. On defense, the Hornets brought in seven defensive backs, four defensive linemen and two linebackers. Included in that group are local standouts Tyler Meteer (Del Oro HS), Joey Banks (Franklin HS), Printess Johnson and Ernest Jenkins (both of Burbank). Meteer and Banks were both all-state selections last season and all four were all-conference selections. Also new to the unit is defensive tackle Brandon Tuliaupupu who transferred from UCLA and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

On offense, the Hornets signed four linemen, four receivers and a running back.

Sacramento State returns the majority of its starters on offense, including eight starters on offense and seven on defense from last season. The team will begin its spring practice in March.

Who knows how it will shape out. Brought in players to address some of the needs. Given the question mark on the defensive coaching staff I was a bit surprised that the class at least brings in players where the voids are.

The thing I'd say about McNeese State's signing class is that they stuck to their historical pattern of staying close to home. 21 of their 22 commitments are from players with listed home towns within 200 miles of Lake Charles as the crow flies. The one exception is a guy from Austin, Texas. That's 272 miles from Lake Charles.

One JC player; the guy from Austin. Two FBS tranfers. One from Pineville, LA (90 miles) and one from Port Arthur, Texas (51 miles). In most cases in which McNeese takes a FBS transfer it is somebody they had a relationship with, such as attempting to recruit them during high school. So FBS transfers will also almost always be from home towns within 200 miles of the school.

On the one hand I sometimes wish they'd try to extend outward some. On the other they've historically been a reasonably competitive program. They've been to the national championship game twice; once losing to the third place team in the then Gateway by one point after having beaten the 2nd place Gateway team in the regular season and the Gateway champion during the playoffs then in their second appearance losing 34-14 to a team they beat 38-13 during the regular season. So they've been good enough at times to have a shot.

For better or for worse they've done what they've done almost exclusively with players recruited from towns within a 3 or 4 hour drive from the school.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
