November is here and instead of sorting out the Big Sky conference race, it still remains clouded with six teams still thinking they have a shot at the conference title and auto-bid. Things usually are clear but certainly not this year. Things should get sorted out in the coming weeks, however. Here are this week's power rankings in the conference (last week in parenthesis). All are my opinion only. This should be good.
1. Eastern Washington (2)---The Eagles bounced back from their stunning loss at Northern Arizona by taking control of their game with North Dakota early. For them now, the game that they have looked forward to all year, the home game with Montana.
2. Cal Poly (3)---The Mustangs completed the sweep of the Montana schools, beating Montana State at home last week. This weekend is also a big test for them as they go on the road and face equally surprising Idaho State, a big game in conference.
3. Montana State (1)---The Bobcats took one on the chin last weekend in a tough game on the road at Cal Poly. Eager to recapture some of their momentum, they go back home and wait for struggling Portland State to make an appearance.
4. Idaho State (4)---The Bengals magical season continued last week as they marched through Portland State for the win. Riding the waves and feeling like this could be a dream year, they face their toughest test yet, a home date with Cal Poly.
5. Montana (6)---The Grizzlies came home last weekend and sent Sacramento State home with a loss. Winning at home has not been the issue, it has been winning on the road that has proven tough and this week, they go to Eastern Washington.
6. Northern Arizona (5)---The Lumberjacks gritted out a tough conference win on the road last week at winless Weber State. They get to return home this weekend where they've played like world beaters, and face UC-Davis.
7. Sacramento State (7)---The Hornets headed in to Montana last week hoping to scare the Grizzlies into a loss. Yet they came up short and they are now playing out the string. This weekend they stay home and play Southern Utah.
8. Southern Utah (8)---Everyone else played last weekend and the Thunderbirds took the weekend off. They are eager to get back in the swing of things and create havoc the rest of the year. It starts this weekend at Sacramento State.
9. Northern Colorado (11)---The Bears headed in to UC-Davis and emerged with a hard fought conference win. A win on the road in conference always feels good and the Bears will take in into a bye weekend this weekend.
10. Portland State (9)---The Vikings brought in Idaho State last week and, while it might not have been a lopsided blowout, it was still a home loss. This weekend does not get easier as they head out on the road to Montana State.
11. North Dakota (10)---The No-Names never showed up last weekend against an angry Eastern Washington team and headed home with a loss. They get to stay home this weekend and bring in winless Weber State to their comfy barn.
12. Weber State (12)---Once again, close can best describe the Wildcats loss last weekend at home to Northern Arizona. Close in so many games, but they are still looking for that elusive first win. They go to North Dakota this weekend.
13. UC-Davis (13)---A long season for the Aggies culminated with a home loss last weekend to Northern Colorado. Still looking for their first DI win, they have to go to Northern Arizona to try to get one there.
RECAP: 1-6 together, 7-8 falling, 9-11 in a bunch, 12 struggling and 13 bringing up the rear.

What's really funny about your rankings is that your #6 team is probably going to win the autobid.

That's crazy that NAU could win the conference. That shows the massive unbalance of the schedules in a 13 team conference. NAU got away with skipping Montana, Montana State, Idaho State, and Sacramento State. All games that'd be very competitive for them.AZGrizFan wrote:What's really funny about your rankings is that your #6 team is probably going to win the autobid.

NAU got away with what? They didn't set the schedule...they merely played what was given to them by the league. Your ire should be aimed directly at Doug Fullerton's Big Sky conference headquarters office.
PS - Who's to say this season wouldn't have been the third straight win by NAU vs. U of Montana?
