That depends on what poll you are looking at.
GPI had them at #24.
Rankings mean squat at this point. For the second week in a row SIU beats a Top 10 team at their homecoming - what do you want to bet the UNI and SDSU will both be ranked ahead of SIU this week?

SIU hasn't been as strong, as they have been, the last couple of years, but voters know of their history. I think the damn will break soon.

True but we've also played a mighty tough schedule and been in every game until the last play... beat #7 and #4 on the road, 2OT loss to #5, 1pt loss to YSU...

I had you at 23 in my CS poll.

Keep up the good work. You've got quite a task in front of you this week :thumb:

NAU scores to cut it to 31-21. Already 4 total touchdowns in the 3Q.

Cartwright has finally replaced Poe at QB for the 'Jacks.

Cartwright to Brantley for an NAU TD. Sixth total touchdown of the third quarter. This game has quickly turned insane. PAT no good.

Cartwright comes in & NAU's offense is suddenly unstoppable. A short TD pass, 2PC no good.

Cartwright has 3 TD passes in less than a quarter.

NAU will start at their own 2, still leading 39-38.

NAU grinds out a few first downs to ice the game. 39-38 final, NAU over Sac.

Chase Cartwright has officially saved the Lumberjack season…

Two interesting results from the Southland:

Sam Houston State 14, Lamer 3. Tim Flanders 83 yards on 28 carries (2.96 per carry average). I don't think anybody would've expected Lamar to hold Sam Houston State to 14 points.

Southeastern Louisiana 56, Stephen F. Austin 14. Southeastern QB Brian Bennett had a 53 yard TD run to go with TD passes of 15, 75, 82, and 85 yards. He ended the game with 409 total yards. The score was 42-7 at halftime.

Southeastern's defense held Stephen F. Austin to 139 yards passing on 15 completions in 37 attempts and got 3 interceptions including a pick six.

I've written it before: Southeastern Louisiana is trouble if they don't turn the ball over and keep their Oregon-transfer QB healthy. Would not be a shock at all to see them get the Southland's automatic bid. I hope they don't. But they're certainly capable of it. And if they do get into the playoffs they could be dangerous.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Horrible officiating at the Sac game. (Face it. It's the Big Sky Conference. Horrible officiating is guaranteed.) But it didn't affect the outcome. What DID affect the outcome was ineptitude at the coordinator positions. The DC gave 10-15 yard cushions to NAU receivers the entire freaking night, and they took full advantage. (There were some lucky catches too, but those paled in comparison to the bogus coverage calls.) Offensive playcalling was no better. Ace back dive on 2nd and 16?!? If you really HAVE to run on 2nd/3rd and long, wouldn't stretch or toss sweep be a better call? Or another deal to get Safron outside? He was money with his legs, but those plays disappeared when it counted. Safron ALSO has to make better decisions when passing. He got lazy on a throw-away (resulting in a stupid pick) and a Rice slant route (also a pick).

I'd like to say that we p!$$ed this one down our leg, and I'd be right. But if there was one thing NAU did that won this thing for them, it was that timely change at quarterback, which lit a fire under that offense. Some coaches don't have the guts to do that, and others leave it too late. Souers did it at JUST the right time (right after that pick six that appeared to swing the momentum permanently in Sac's favor. If ANYONE won this game for NAU, it was that second QB (not to mention Souers for having the guts to make that call).

Congratulations to NAU for a hard-fought victory.

You could argue NAU did leave it till too late. Poe has looked terrible aside from the Montana game, & I'm kinda wondering why he had the starting job in the first place. Still, the 'Jacks are 4-2, and they should finish 7-4 at worst given their schedule. If Cartwright plays like he did tonight, they'll go 9-2.
