And it is much easier to go from bad to mediocre than it is from mediocre to good. He will need to make a quick transition to mediocre and jump ship before he has to face the impossible task of making them good. Top 15 of what it takes to be good?
Really m
There are about 130 fbs school next season and "good" doesn't kick in until top 15?

Right. In the FBS 6 games is "good". After a 7 or 8 win season I'd try to parlay that if I was him.clenz wrote:Top 15 of what it takes to be good?

Probably one of the top candidates for the NDSU job too. Bohl is taking his top coaches with him otherwise.Cap'n Cat wrote:Klieman interviewed for the UND job. Cleaning house in Fargo.

I wonder if he wanted to get an FBS school on his resume before Nebraska tells Bo to GTFO with his craziness.

Wyoming has artificial turf for 2 reasons:
1) Keep the antelope from grazing onto the field
2) Keep the cheerleaders from grazing onto the field

It's definitely not a lateral movement in terms of pay. He should make 3-or-4 years worth of his NDSU money in just his first year in Laramie.craneac27 wrote:from North Dakota State to Wyoming…

Not so much from what I have read. 5-year contract worth $750K guaranteed annually; will go up each year with incentives. He was making over $400,000 with incentives with current contract. Granted it is a major increase but not the jackpot some would think he is getting.

at the very least it's double...The Kicker wrote:Mvemjsunpx wrote:

When I was a Scheels (a sporting good retailer) who is huge competetors with Dick's in the upper midwest I would have jumped in a second if Dick's offered double my salary with incentives to get to 3-4 times what I was making.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: NDSU Bohl To Be Introduced At Wyoming Sun
Over the next 5 years at NDSU, including all possible (known) bonuses which means winning 5 more national titles in a row, he would have made roughly 2 million dollars. In 5 years at Wyoming, without including any incentives and annual pay increase he will make 3.75 million. Now if he gets them to a bowl game (likely a couple in their future as they are a 5-7 win team anyway and with him/his staff and recruiting there is no doubt), gets to a MWC title game, wins the MWC, etc... he could make up to 1.2-1.5 million dollars. IF he stays at Wyoming for 5 years I see no reason he doesn't pocket at least 5-5.5 million dollars. The Kicker wrote:Mvemjsunpx wrote:

If he hits all of those goals to get that kind of bonus from Wyo he won't be there for 5 years because a B12/B10/Pac12 school will be calling him and offering him 2-3 million (minimum) per year.
By the time he is done at Wyo, even if he "busts" out and ends up back at the FCS level (or FBS coord) well a head of where he would be at NDSU and real close to retirement.
There is also the idea that he has done all he can do at NDSU and the stress/strain/etc... of trying to maintain where NDSU is just too much/not worth it. Coaches need change as well.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: NDSU Bohl To Be Introduced At Wyoming Sun
not always about the money boys…
what i mean by "lateral movement" i meant = I'm not sure thats a better job.
you gotta look at it like: whats the goal at NDSU versus Wyoming? what can you accomplish at Wyo that you can't at NDSU?
okay so in the past 3 years he had to have been offered jobs, at least that is what i assume. but obviously none were bigger than Wyoming UNLESS he passed on a job and regrets that.
but the only thing he can do at Wyo that he can't at NDSU is compete for a MWC and go to a bowl game. Wyo was 5-7 this past year and in the same division as Boise.
at NDSU you compete for national championships at Wyo you don't. obviously he is banking on Wyo being a stepping stone that he can recruit, win at the next level, upset a few teams, and potentially lead Wyo to a MVC division / conference championship.
its a gamble but i think NDSU is a better job. Fargo = heads, Laramie = tails. brutal options for someone thats never been to either places

Re: BREAKING NEWS: NDSU Bohl To Be Introduced At Wyoming Sun
Watching the presser yesterday you could see and hear the excitement in the Wyoming AD. He said he wanted to bring back a 'toughness' to Wyoming football and Coach Bohl will do that. He and his staff will bring the 'power west-coast' offense and Tampa-2 to Wyoming and I'm sure he will make it work.
I appreciate all Coach Bohl has done for NDSU and wish him well in Wyoming.
It is going to be interesting who GT hires to replace him.

I guess he knows what he's doing but I look at Wyoming as a coaches' graveyard.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

If anyone can instill a winning attitude and toughness, Coach Bohl can.

Loved what Coach Bohl said at his Wyoming press conference: "Strap it on! You're gonna' like what ya' see!".
I don't doubt that for a nono-second!

Rumor is Chris Klieman, Defensive Coordinator, is in serious discussions for the Head Coaching position. Is Klieman from Iowa, or did he just play college ball, and coach in Iowa?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: NDSU Bohl To Be Introduced At Wyoming Sun
Great hire for Wyoming, no doubt.
Been to Laramie too many times to count, been to Fargo three times, once to play NDSU. I wouldn't even consider living in either city, no freezing way, bottom line is money talks and bull shit walks. How many of us would not consider doubling of our incomes as a big raise? Want me to live in a frozen rat-hole like Laramie or Fargo, try offering me a 100% raise..
