A team may have an outstanding recruiting class -- regardless of 'stars' -- if it addresses specific needs.

In the case of Appalachian they got over 75-feet (and a ton & a half) of some studly-looking grunts to compliment all the speed they acquired the previous 2 years.

Montana had 4 coaches from 1995-2009 and never had a 7 win season. Facilities, campus, reputation, game day atmosphere, fan base, and community play a big role in recruiting also.
