And then a 7 yard run on first down. We're done. Good game Dukes... that really sucks tho.We left points on that field, and a lot of questionable crap in this game. But you guys controlled the lines, just like last year, and that was enough.

And that's it. 3rd and 4 converted and it's all over.

The better team won, but that was one helluva game. Both teams left a lot on the field. As an LU fan I saw a million things we could have done, but with Mike Brown hurt and limited in what he could do, we had to either run into the mouth of a defense that dominated the line, or pass against a line getting great pressure on our QB, and we just couldn't do it. We missed a few tackles, had a couple blown coverages, and lost contain on Dudzik once, and that was all the Dukes needed. Great game, I feel like Liberty showed everyone we're not as bad as the team that lost to RMU, and that we can compete. Just need to keep getting better and stronger as the season goes on and hopefully earn ourselves a playoff spot.

Great game guys, best of luck to JMU going forward. :thumb:

Wow, I guess I should feel fortunate to hold the Dukes within seven. But this was a game where we had our chances. Special teams stepped up and really provided the difference tonight for the Dukes.

Congrats to my JMU friends and I can't wait until you come down to Lynchburg next fall ... or perhaps if we meet again in November.

I'll eat crow for predicting JMU by 3-4 TDs. On the one hand, that wasn't unreasonable given Liberty's performance the week prior against Roberrt Morris, and JMU's prior performance against VT. On the other hand, I should have figured that Liberty would have a major let down against Robert Morris, and JMU, despite a bye week would likely have a little bit of one against Liberty, who would treat this game as their Super Bowl, and should have predicted it to be closer.

JMU defense didn't have a letdown- they looked like they brought their "A" game. Offense certainly didn't. Didn't look good. Part of that had to do with Liberty. The other part I don't know why. Dudzik was either low or high on several passes, even when he wasn't facing much heat. He looked like he did @ Hofstra last yr (bell rung early, reportedly played the rest of the game with a mild concussion) and @ Liberty in the monsoon. On Sat was no bell rung or rain excuse. If JMU offense doesn't play better will lose several CAA games.

I'm confident the JMU offense after hearing all week how they sucked will give a much better performance next Sat against an even better UD defense and will score in the teens, which may or may not be enough without a special teams or defensive TD.

I think for Liberty the playoffs will start a week early on Nov 20 at home against SB. I had them also losing by 3-4 TDs to UMass and they only lost by 5. I think Liberty will beat SB and win the Big South AQ, have no top 12 bye, and likely play Thanksgiving weekend against a #3 So Con, # 4 CAA or MEAC. IF LU won that, and IF JMU was one of the top 5 seeds, could possibly be a rematch the 1st week of Dec in the round of 16 (although the odds are pretty slim).
