The longer they wait the more current assistants have to consider other options if and when those calls come. These men have to feed their families and need some certainty in their lives. I keep hearing about the past basketball process but basketball ain't football. At G-Dubb's level, many players sign in the early b-ball signing period (no such period in football) and there are just 2 or no more than 3 assistants. There shouldn't have been the recruiting pressure with b-ball after firing the HC after the season and then having months before the next early signing period. Yes they may have signed some in the spring period as well but football is clearly different in so many ways. I just don't see a parallel here but that's just me. The Official Visit weekends coming up starting this Saturday are clearly different than when b-ball Officials take place, at least that's what I understand.
Congrats to Coach Windham on a move up to the SOCON from the Big South, I hope the day comes when it doesn't appear to be a move up but for now and the forseeable future there can be no doubt. If we don't retain the other assistants I certainly hope they experience similar good fortune. This process just sucks.
Don't forget Eagle that Coach Windham had put his name in the hat for the HC position. The fact that he is going to FU means he most likely knows that he didn't make the cut so the process must be progressing somewhat. We won't have officials this coming weekend, so if we get someone next week we should still be good to go. Frankly, I'm a little surprised that, except for Elon and Furman, there really haven't been any other HC opportunities opening up in this neck of the woods. If we do have a new coach next week, this guy could actually bring an entirely new level of excitement to our potential recruits. I'm with you though. I'm ready to get this process over.
This is horrendous. Just another example of GWU administration dragging their feet. There is zero advantage in waiting this long to find a head coach. It's not like we are waiting for Chip Kelly to coach in the national championship. This should have been done before Christmas at the latest. When you are in the middle of searching for a new HC as an athletic director you should be making progress through the Christmas holiday, there are plenty of athletic directors that were making calls and conducting interviews well through that break. For "the search committee" to wait this whole week and do nothing because DR. Bonner is out of town shows the value the administration puts on this process.
These people in charge need to be called on the carpet, In my opinion a change should have been made a long time ago. Coach Patton lost the respect of his team and the majority of his staff well before this year, but I figured since they were doing it now they may have a shot at doing it right. I hope whoever becomes the next head coach is a no nonsense guy because this program needs a hard ass.

Welcome aboard LNS. It's always good to have another Runnin' Bulldog on board. I'm now hearing that Rich Rodriguez might be interested in our job
Whatever the outcome of the HC search, I just pray that he will take a genuine interest in the students. Football is important (I am its biggest fan); however, the students at GW need to know that the HC truly cares about them as students and not just as athletes. Whomever the new person might be needs to step up and take charge and not take a backseat. Success always begins at the top and trickles down. There are some amazing assistants but it takes great leadership to move a mountain. Just sayin'.......
