I already settled this speed stuff on PN. I have to be the only person in the country to see both teams in person multiple times. C'mon.

Agree, the better team will win. We'll see.
BTW, I've been to Wash Griz and it's a mini D1 stadium and no big wuup. Several of em can fit into places that UNI plays at annually or frequently. Course you fucks wouldn't know because you play a DIII OOC scedule.
It aint that loud either. It's just that everyone is drunk or on drugs. I sure was (on both) the last three times I was there.
Bottom line, all because you love it doesn't mean it aint a fuckin little dump.
What exactly is tough about playing in a place like this? Don't give me that snow bullshit, that affects both teams equally.

Re: UNI @ Montana...
UM's LBs have more TFLs and sacks, but UNI's linebackers have more picks & pass deflections and about a billion tackles. Depth is a concern for the Panther LB corps, though.kemajic wrote:I do not buy that UNI's linebackers are better than UM's. You won't see UM give up 457 yards on the gorund to anyone.
The run defense difference in favor of Montana is more about the D-Line than the LBs, IMO.
The most interesting thing from looking at Northern Iowa's defensive stats is that they apparently never blitz. Their D-Line has 22 of their 24 sacks and the lone sack by a LB was by a guy with less than 10 total tackles. It sounds like the Kraig Paulson defense on even more valium (this might also explain why they got ripped by the triple option, too). Contrast that with the Mike Breske defense that brings near constant pressure from any position on the field.

We've been where you are with just outright beating people but we kept running into teams with a little more grit and decided to step up to the next evolutionary level and just win, even if it meant winning ugly. We're planning to give you a lesson in it this Friday.SeattleGriz wrote:Welcome to our old style of football, we did that for years, and are now over the hump and just outright beat people.UNI88 wrote:
You did do that. IMO, these teams are pretty evenly matched. You could make a strong argument for either to be the #4 seed. Montana is peaking at the right time and is playing at home so I would lay odds that they would win 6-7 out of 10. Of course UNI has found ways to win all year and Friday night could very easily turn out to be one of those 3-4 (or 2 in your estimation) times that they beat the Griz. Anyone who thinks that UNI stands no chance is a probably still green behind the ears or more than a little daft.

Snow is a disadvantage to Dome teams, dumbfuck.
Wash Griz is no different than any other stadium in the north, except to dorks like you who have nothing else going on in the state.
You wouldn't know shit cuz you never played ball, never was an underdog, never played in a Dome, never played in the playoffs, never played in 20 different stadiums and never competed in anything other than who can make the best meth.

Unlike UM, other colleges actually pay attention to the needs of other sports and plan wisely.
With rare exception, Montana sucks in just about every sport except football and pot smoking. The primary focus of your athletic program and university is football and you would suck dick in that, like you did last year, if you were forced to actually try to be competitive in another sport, or god forbid, support womens athletics.

UNI don't make near the coin on ball that UM does and we share (get the shaft) state resources with 2 BCS universities located within 100 miles of our campus, YET we still manage field several nationally ranked, perennial conference champions and competetive men's and women's programs. We actually care about other things and don't simply see them as things the government makes us do.

I like soccer, but I'm not going to waste my time watching it at half-speed.
Volleyball? I respect their athletic ability, but until they start playing in bikinis or less, not really going to catch my attention.
If we had something other than a club team for men's hockey, I would definitely support that avidly.

UNI needs to thank Montana
Would you be in the prime Friday night spot without the Griz playing at home?
Don't you think it would be easier to pick a place that already had lights?
You should just says thanks for the great exposure for recruiting and cheer for your team

Re: UNI @ Montana...
Oh God Damnit, I just face-palmed so hard reading this thread.
The ridiculous arguing over who's team is more big time is just that, ridiculous. (albeit slightly hilarious)
Both teams are among the 8 remaining teams in the FCS, both deserve to be where they are at, and at this level, are both 'big time' however I do believe that Montana is a more, household (i guess) name among the FCS fanbase.
I think it will be a fantastic game, I wish I could go, normally I'd be there because my sister gets free tickets for being on the cheer team, but its a damn Friday game and I have to work out here in Washington.
The Griz have to be the favorites, and as that sometimes helps the other team coming in being the underdog, playing with a chip on their shoulders, I do believe the Griz will win this one. They are peaking at the right time and playing the best ball they've played all year. Admittedly I know very little about UNI except what I've read on here and eGriz (so very little relevant information) but I do know plenty about the Griz.
And even though D1B seems to believe that our stadium is a little dump, it tends to be quite intimidating to opposing teams because of how close the fans are, how loud they can be even in the "small" (relative to FBS) amount that there are. There is most definitely a home-field advantage, the record doesn't lie.
I totally lost track of where I was going with all this, and I know I rambled, but F*** it. Go Griz.

Montana actually spends one million more dollars towards sports than UNI (16.8 to 15.8). I would also say that our three big programs - football, mens BB and women's BB all pretty much pay for themselves. So, with that being said, I assume we put a boatload into womens athletics more than UNI does.
