And so, Sweet Bronco, good luck in your quest! If there exists a soul upon this Blue Orb that deserves to find what they seek, it is you!

This is a very even matchup, but I think the home field & better redzone numbers on both offense & defense give the edge to the Bison. It will probably come down to how well Brock Jensen throws the ball, though.

Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:

      • Quarterbacks -- (push)

        Running Backs - Georgia Southern

        Receivers/TEs - North Dakota St.

        Offensive Line - Georgia Southern

Defensive Line - North Dakota St.

        Linebackers --- North Dakota St.

        Secondary ---- North Dakota St.

        Kicking ------ (push)

        Punting ------ Georgia Southern

        Return Teams - Georgia Southern

        Kickoffs ------ North Dakota St.

        • Georgia Southern 24-28 North Dakota St.

You guys make me laugh. I played for Southern, and I don't get wound up like some of you. (Disclaimer: by played for Southern I mean I was a tackle dummy for the upperclassmen. Prior to my illustrious career on the rugby pitch of course)

Quick question; are there any players, current or alum that have been posting on here?

Like I've said before, anything can happen on any Saturday. On a cold day in 1995 I had never seen Montana play but was sure they would be no match for Southern. I was way wrong.

Here's "The Call" straight from Headquarters:

Image
NDSU BISON 32 GSU Eagles 27

QB NDSU: Brock Jensen is a great QB for the West Coast, a tough offense against anybody. Shaws great strength is his decision making with the option. He only avgs about 30 yds/game rushing and 130 passing. Dont let him get close to the goal line is all.

Receivers NDSU: NDSU receivers get a lot more experience and are statistically better

Running Backs NDSU: GSU has a bunch of backs but not one of them is a 100 yarder. You need to pitch and dive with a lot of backs when you run the option. They will run the ball 6 times for every pass. The NDSU running backs are statiscally better.

BALANCED ATTACK: A balanced attack in football, with skilled players on both sides, is the most profitable way to play the game. The NDSU BISON have a balanced attack, the most balanced in college football.

O line toss up both great in their scheme.

D line NDSU
Linebackers NDSU
D Backs NDSU

DEPTH: NDSU has good depth on defense and will use it to stay fresh against all the running plays.

There is no reason to expect GSU to do better than average. They are coming into a tight stadium, one of the best football venues in the country and the FCS at large. By my own calculations I have The BISON too close to call, 1 pt but not 2, but it doesnt end there.

Saturdays game will probably not be within a point or two. Like Lehigh and JMU they can expect to be slowed down by a BISON defense that is just as good at what they do as GSU is at the option. There is no magic in the option. Its not much different that any other offense. When the day is done, if executed well, the team should have some nice offensive stats. So should the BISON.
KEY: Stop GSU on third down. They are converting 52%. Thats a good number. It would be nice to keep them even with the BISON say 45%.

I think it will be an all-West championship game so NDSU wins this one.

With that evidence of a football culture in decay and retreat we all look forward to a great game in Fargo.

This is the 4th greatest game ever played this year in the insanely popular Fabulous Fargo Dome. As far as the nation is concerned its also the defacto National Championship! What do the fellers (sic) call it? The chipper? Well, this is the virtual chipper.

What an honour for the GSU team and fans to visit and play football in Fargo, North Dakota at the Fabulous Fargo Dome, Home of the NDSU BISON! Welcome! 8-)

You "think" that "NDSU wins this one"? Ha! What Nincompoopitous Naivete! Have you not been following the rather absurdly Brazen fashion in which the NDSU-18 have been flaunting their Free tickets to Frisco? The only remaining question to wonder about is whether the NDSU-7 will ride in First Class with the smirking NDSU Staff, or back in Cattle Class with the 9 players that NDSU intends to bring to the Frisco Fiasco!

10 left in 2nd quarter. Bison's defense is looking strong. Gonna be tough for Eagles to move the ball even with a well-executed triple option.

Fake FG failure by GSU to end first half. Still 14-7 Bisons.

GSU look good on the last drive, before the fake FG.

Hopefully NDSU can make a stop on the first drive of the 2nd half.
