The CAA was slightly down the past two seasons but still remains the preeminent FCS conference of the past decade+. The numbers don't lie. Towson will be the eighth appearance by the conference in the championship game in eleven years with a chance to be the fifth school in the conference to win a championship.

Let's not get carried away now, all the power conferences are fairly equal. Btw, what is the only conference to have a team in the semi's each of the past 6 seasons?CAA Flagship wrote:Colonial Athletic Association >>> Big Lie Conference93henfan wrote:

The depth is what sets the CAA apart though. Pretty remarkable as most conferences tend to be dominated by 1 or 2 or 3 teams. The CAA, now with Towson making the title game, has had something like 6 different teams in the past 10 years or so make the title game. And much more than half of them got there by playing on the road to boot. I agree, at the end of the day, most of the power conferences eventually get the same result when it comes to raw national titles, you just don't see the success spread across the conference like the CAA has done.kalm wrote:Let's not get carried away now, all the power conferences are fairly equal. Re: CAA is back!
If the teams coming out of the CAA routinely lost in the first round or two (*cough* OVC *cough* Montana *cough*) then you could call it mediocrity. But when those teams repeatedly work their way through the playoffs, and again, predominantly on the road, and make it as far as they do, if that's mediocrity then it doesn't speak well of the rest of FCS outside of the CAA.AZGrizFan wrote:Some call it depth. Proud as you should be. You are one of the few teams nationally that would have had a winning record in the CAA this year. There are not many others.

NDSU is the FBS of the FCS. 44-2 in the past 4 years, 3 straight (after this year) titles....nobody else comes close.Sirloin Burger wrote:The CAA is the FBS of the FCS.

Z doesn't quite understand. Montana made a living off of the rest of the Big Sky's mediocrity over the years. Many runs to the playoffs only to lose to a CAA team (Montana is 2-4 vs CAA in last 10 years). He can't own up to the fact that if Montana played a CAA schedule, they'd make the playoffs less than UD, which is saying something.GannonFan wrote:If the teams coming out of the CAA routinely lost in the first round or two (*cough* OVC *cough* Montana *cough*) then you could call it mediocrity. And if any CAA team played a BSC schedule with the travel required, they'd make the playoffs even less than they do now.
There, see how easy that is?

You have absolutely NOTHING to base that statement on, other than the fact that we're 2-4 against the BEST CAA teams from the respective years we played them.

Yeah, that would be something. However IIRC the CAA only hosted one of those 6 games against the Griz.AZGrizFan wrote:And if any CAA team played a BSC schedule with the travel required, they'd make the playoffs even less than they do now.

We're 2-1 and if you throw in Weber's loss to W&M and MSU's win against UNH, that's CAA 6-5 within recent memory. That's seems awfully comparable.89Hen wrote:I have a lot more than you do to refute it.Grizalltheway wrote:

A majority of the games were at BSC schools. If my memory is correct it was 6 @ BSC, 3 @ neutral, 2 @ CAA.kalm wrote:We're 2-1 and if you throw in Weber's loss to W&M and MSU's win against UNH, that's CAA 6-5 within recent memory.
