Possibly, but I've never heard of a team being viewed with fewer losses than they have. Fewer wins, yes.Gil Dobie wrote:UNI's 7-3 FCS record and win over NDSU could be enough to get them in.89Hen wrote:Mabye this was covered but let's play a MVFC "what if"...
Indiana State loses to YSU, beats WIU, finishes 7-5
UNI loses to SIU, beats MSU, finishes 7-5
SIU beats UNI, loses to NDSU, finishes 7-5
SDSU loses to WIU, beats USD, finishes 7-5
I think the first three are very possible, and WIU is no pushover (ask YSU). Is the MVFC possibly looking at only three bids??

A little chart to look at. Sorted by possible auto bids on top, could be a couple that don't go that way. Then by D1 wins, and Sagarin schedule strength. Everyone talks about 7 wins, but like the recent video from UNI Committe Number said, 8 is the number to shoot for in a 12 game season.

I would put the Big South either #2 or #3. Their best team CCU is as good or close to as good as the best in the CAA and Big Sky. Their worst team is 4-6. What other conference only has 1 team with a losing record? Their worst is better than the worst team in the CAA in URI & Big Sky in UC Davis. They are 17-5 OOC vs I-AA versus 8-9 for the Big Sky. Sure they a lot of Div II opponents, but so does the Big Sky. The problem is trying to compare a 6 team conference to 12 & 13 team conferences. If the Big South gets 2 in, which I think they will, that will be 1/3 of their conference, same as 4 of 12 for the CAA, and similar to 4 of 13 for the Big SKy.
So no, I would only move definitely move 2 conferences (flip the So-Con and Big Sky) to say its accurate. The Big South & the CAA are a coin toss for #2 and #3.

It is really tough to compare between conferences, given the lack of OOC games.
Due to lack of teams, Big Sky is forced to due a lot of OOC games either against conference mates, or DII schools, with a heavy dose of FBS.
The Big Sky had multiple games against two conferences, both in your power 6 - MVFC and Southland.
BSC went 1-7 against MVFC, mainly Dakota Schools (6 of 8 games)
BSC went 5-2 against Southland, with no repeats
BSC only played to other conferences - 1-0 against CAA, and 1-0 against NEC. Poly does have one more OOC game left, against the Pioneer.
On the other hand, the CAA only had three games against the other top 5 conferences - the aforementioned loss to the Big Sky, and split with the Big South.
All other OOC games were MEAC (8), Patriot (7), NEC (7), IVY (3), Indy (2) and Pioneer (1)
Should be noted the CAA went 2-5 against the NEC, including giving CCSU their only two wins of the year.
Given all that, it just shows how hard it is to rank conferences. Should the NEC be ranked above the CAA based on head to head?

The Big South is hard to guage, but it's just a sniff test. They really only have a couple games OOC against anyone decent: Richmond > Liberty... that's about it.

OOC vs I-AA (courtesy of Mvemjsunpx's weekely conference breakdown threads).
1. MVFC: 23-1
2. Big South: 17-5 (only 6 teams)
3. CAA: 22-10
4. Big Sky: 8-9
-- Southland: 8-9
6. Ivy 11-13
7. Patriot: 17-20
8. NEC 11-16
9. So-Con 6-10
-- OVC: 6-10
11. Pioneer: 4-14
12. MEAC: 4-16
--- SWAC 2-8
Both have it MVFC a runaway 1st, followed by Big SOuth (should be asterick because only 6 teams), followed by CAA.

Yeah...this.dbackjon wrote:89Hen wrote: If you noticed, I only posted the first six. I really don't care about the Ivy vs the SWAC.
They have:
13 MISSOURI VALLEY
20 BIG SOUTH
21 COLONIAL
22 SOUTHERN
23 SOUTHLAND
24 BIG SKY
I have:
13 MISSOURI VALLEY

24 BIG SKY
20 BIG SOUTH
23 SOUTHLAND
22 SOUTHERN

Yes, but you put them in awkward and incorrect places.dal4018 wrote:Yes English professor I use commas and periods.Ibanez wrote:

Re: Playoff Teams?
Didn't there use to be a rule that you had to have 7 teams to be an AQ conference? Or was/is it only 6?89Hen wrote:Just makes it hard to compare conferences of different sizes, that's all.Ibanez wrote:We have 6 teams, so what?

Sticky, it's pointless arguing or having a conversation with someone like him. For example, have you ever seen a bulldog try to bark while eating mayonnaise? It's gross, and you want it to stop but no matter what you do, the bulldog won't stop. Point being, don't give mayonnaise to dal or a bulldog.Ibanez wrote:It's been mentioned on here countless times.
