And WSU will look real tough sittin' at home these next 2 or 3 seasons with 2 FBS games on the schedule.native wrote:You could be right, beagle, and if EWU gets the Big Sky at-large bid, I wish the Eagles well!!!Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:...
One of the playoff committee members, who is also UM's Athletic Director, would care to disagree.

Ala AZ,
Does that mean that WSU should go back to scheduling NAIA and DII teams, like Eastern Washington?...
Naaaaw... that would be only for pussies.

Don't know how much stock/weight you place in the GPI... but it's pretty evenly split between those teams in the Big South and Big Sky (maybe a slight edge towards those teams in the Big South). This of course is if you leave out the Top 5 Big Sky schools.
If you take out the teams in the Big Sky and Big South who are currently in the hunt for the playoffs plus Northern Arizona who was just eliminated from consideration the remaining averages are Big Sky 50.72, Big South 57.94. That gap is larger then the gap from #1 conference CAA to #4 Missouri Valley, so not only is it not evenly split, it doesnt even slightly favor the Big South.
Those averages include the lowest four teams in the Big Sky and everyone in the Big South except Liberty.
Hell throw Liberty in and the lower 4 of the Big Sky still out average the Big South.

Eh, I just glanced at it real quick... didn't have the time to crunch the numbers, you know, job and all.
Three of the BS schools are clustered right together ahead of the bottom two BSC. LU and Stony Brook are the highest. VMI way way way down on the list. Just sayin in response to T's "9 out 10" response. Don't think that would hold true.

Nice to see PVA&M in there. I know they do the SWAC thing but I have had an affinity for them for a lot of years. It's (oddly enough) one of the few FCS teams I knew about before moving to TX and we used to go by their campus all the time on our way to Galveston (until the bypass was completed.) Congrats PV.

Got a question...is ODU the first independent to ever be playoff eligible?

I don't think so...UCA was last season....as many on here constantly remind me. (and they are still listed as an Independent, in football, by the NCAA)

Not by a long shot. Georgia Southern & Youngstown each won the majority of their national titles as independents.∞∞∞ wrote:Got a question...is ODU the first independent to ever be playoff eligible?
