My point is this: If ANY of those teams other than Montana are invited, it so severely weakens the WAC as to make it almost laughable (or MORE laughable than it already is and would be with Montana as the invitee). If they (the schools) are so short-sighted as to not give a shit about their conference strength or reputation, then invite a Sac State or Texas State.

If they care about inviting a team that would be competitive (of course, THAT may be what they're trying to avoid....) then invite Montana.
Add Texas St and Montana. Then I have an excuse to meet Griz Goddess.

With Utah joining the Pac-10 now the MWC will probably sit at 9 for a while and wait to see if Houston, Nevada or Fresno St. become Boise like before they add any of them. Their BCS AQ invite is in MAJOR doubt now. You'd think they'd want to add at least 1 of us now.

SloStang, I just got back from a little vaca at Morro Bay, my wife, baby, and I drove by Cal Poly's campus on the way down. It made me think of you and Poly51. Good luck to you guys and I hope to see you in the WAC soon.

The rumor of UNT, Arkansas St., Texas St., ULL joining is getting a little stronger. My SBelt contact says the SBC commish isn't scared because the WAC commish probably doesn't have the balls to go east w/4 teams.

Utah joining the Pac-10 really is an interesting development but not at all surprising. We have been suspecting for years that the Utes would get an invite especially with their recent succses. Another rumor going around is that BY may go to the Big 12 so we shall see about that coming true. With Utah in the Pac-10 can see the conference shaping up like this most likely:

Pac-10 North:
-Washington
-Washington State
-Oregon
-Oregon State
-Cal
-Stanford

Pac-10 South:
-Utah
-Colorado
-Arizona
-Arizona State
-USC
-UCLA

Maybe it will go east and west but as of right now think this is the best setup. I really think the WAC as well will try to pick up Montana and if not the Griz then definetly another team from either the BIg Sky or Great West Conference. Best part is this may open up a spot or to to add my thunderbirds into the Big Sky where we belong :thumb:

They will keep the CA teams together.

North: Washington, Washington State, Colorado, Utah, Oregon and Oregon State.

South: Stanford, Cal, USC, UCLA, Arizona and Arizona State.

Personally, I think if you look at the conference on a map of the US, TBird's suggestion makes more sense. :coffee: :coffee:

Depends on what trumps what - keeping the Cal schools together or not.

Utah and Colorado are not south or north, really.

Colorado is a long ways from any of the Original Pac 10. Closest to ASU (850), with UA another 100 miles, LA 200 miles. Other 6 schools are 1100-1400 miles.

Utah is pretty evenly situation, with closest schools being either WSU or ASU (both 660). LA schools, Bay Area schools, Oregon schools and UA all in the 700-760 mile range

Bay Area schools are much closer to the LA schools (400 Miles) than anything else.

It's a HELL of a lot further from Denver to Seattle than it is from Denver to L.A.

Right now the CA schools are looking like they will split. W/ all 6 North teams making sure they play either UCLA or USC every year. I think they are trying to make sure all of the South teams play 1 of the Bay area teams every year.

The Pac 10 commissioner stated today that the conference hadn't decided to go to 2 divisions yet, let alone decide who is in what division. That said, the primary reason to go to 12 teams had to be to have 2 divisions.

One of the big issues is that everybody wants California schools in their division. And everybody wants to play at least UCLA or USC every year. Which means that UCLA and USC each play 3 crossover games each year.
