I'm sorry to interrupt this thread with something that actually has some bearing on Saturday's game but NDSU's QB Brock Jensen passed his concussion test and is cleared to play.

You may now go back to posting stats from games months ago, music videos, what the conglomerate is doing in BISON CITY, the quick-strike West Coast offense and whatever *****FOOTBALL INSIGHTS****** you have....

Thanks for the timely update FargoBison. Its critical, if you plan on being a successful football prognosticator, to have timely and accurate information, not only on important roster issues such as this, but all immediate events exerting influence on the potential outcome of this weeks game.

I do have an issue about the statistics though. Having a grasp of a football teams abilities and potential requires a firm understand of the statistical record, not only game-by-game, but also in totality. Its no different than a companies financial statements. Its fundamental knowledge if you are trying to look ahead past today.

In my system the further in the past a game is the less weight it has on the present. I think the NDSU BISON football passing statistics are the most critical and overlooked statistic surrounding this game. I believe Screaming Eagle has also touched on this.

The presence of Air Mail Jensen as a possible starter at QB offers a different look in the "Quick Strike" West Coast NDSU runs. Mohler is a ball control QB although both have demonstrated the ability to engineer long drives, Jensen is the Big Play QB.

ABOUT THE NDSU RUNNING BACKS:

Gil has dubbed McNorton and Sigers "Thunder and Lightening". Its a very accurate description. Matt Voigtlander is also in the mold of a power back. These three running backs are certainly an issue with any defense that hopes to stop them. I wouldn't be surprised to see Derrick Lang get some action too. He has shown a lot of promise for such a young player.

Missouri State was the NDSU BISON "let-down" game. It was one of the scrappiest and hard fought football games of the season. The BISON were beat up, especially along the O Line, and Missou State played its best game of the year. I had nothing but admiration for that team after the game. The historic thread record is still posted on this board if you need references.

interesting to you chalk up NDSU's poor performance in that game to a "let-down" while continuing to use the Montana State comparisons as your reasoning to why the Bizon will beat EWU.

Ah yes, sometimes knowing the finer details are what seperate prognosticators like yourself from mere mortals. So here's a couple for ya:

I know you pay attention to field conditions and consider the coin toss an under rated factor so I'll have you know that the two week temperature inversion over the Inland Northwest is now broken, triggering a full blown chinook. This means a steady stream of warmer, unsettled fronts off the central pacific and a return of the prevailing southwest wind.

The inferno runs S-SW to N-NW. So if the Bison win the toss will they take the wind and try and prevent Eastern from jumping out to a cumbersome early lead?

Also, I've heard that Taiwan took a huge, steaming dump this morning freeing up a minor blockage that had kept his most recent 40 times in the pedestrian 4.3's. Now, all is free and clear so prepare for the .2's. :thumb:

Gil's a good guy and no slight to him but I think pretty much every team in America dubs their power back and their scat back as Thunder & Lightening. It's been that way for at least 30 yrs. so it's not exactly a new thing.

You guys could have put your own twist on it with Thundar & Lightening. Of course you'll have to make sure that Taiwan "Lights Out" Jones is held in check cuz all the Thunder in the world ain't gonna help ya when he strikes.

I saw greased lightening miss a tackle on him once and TJ left him, Superman, and a speeding bullet in his wake on the way to the EZ.

They just said "FUCK IT" the next time it happened.

I agree kalm, an early lead by EWarshington would be inconvenient and bothersome.

Either way the early going will probably not be the deciding factor. This game is all about the second half.

*********NOTE ON TRADITION***********

The NDSU BISON ARE, BY TRADITION, A SECOND HALF TEAM. THE FIRST HALF IS ABOUT TAKING PHYSICAL CONTROL OF THE GAME. IF A TEAM CRUMBLES IN THE FIRST HALF IT WILL BE A JOYOUS DAY WHERE NDSU FANS ARE KEEPING TALLY OF THE STATS. IF ITS CLOSE IN THE 4TH ITS A BARN BURNER!

What a coincidence. EWU has outscored it's last 4 opponents 59-17 in the second half. Against two of those opponents (PSU, ISU) TJ didn't play a snap in the 2nd half and it was pretty much 2nd team on both sides of the ball.

Maybe it was a different "last 4 opponents". Impressive record none-the-less.
Portland St 50-17 second half 22-7 +15
SUU 31-24 second half 14-10 +4
idaho st 34-7 second half 6-0 +6
semo 37-17 second half 20-0 +20 = +45
Nobody ever said your team wasn't the #1 team in the country. If you didnt have decent rebuttals to the qualitative analysis BISON fans would begin to wonder why you were #1, not they we arent anway.

Nobody said this wasn't going to be a good game.

Most fans outside of the ever expanding BISON CITY realize The Eagles are expected to win. Im just pointing out why I think they are wrong.

Things to consider:

1) NDSUs passing threat. It has been documented.
2) NDSUs running threat. It is legend.
3) EWUs defense, good. Weak on the pass.
4) EWUs offense, good. Decent running back good QB. Big time program.

1) Saying NDSU's 2010 passing threat has been documented, is like saying wins during the bi-sons 2009 campaign were documented.
2) NDSUs running threat has also been shut down at least twice this season, and by shut down I mean -40 and +40 yards throughout the course of a game. :coffee:

The Eagles are ranked #1 and far superior to any team NDSU has ever played, including the game at Montana in 2003. :o

I fart in your general direction
The Eagles have a weak secondary.

After watching TJs highlights on you tube I have to say the BSC must have some of the worst tacklers in the nation. Apparently nobody is practicing the fundamentals. NDSU spends time every week reinforcing the basic skills of the game:

1) running
2) jumping
3) blocking
4) tackling
5) passing
6) catching

among others.

It is Thursday now and it has become obvious that the quantitive analysis of the game is over with a clear advantage to The NDSU BISON in almost every category studied on this thread and others across this thing we call the internet.

I understand several kids from other schools in the BSC have also said, in private of course, that
EWarshington is over rated.

Im not one to take that kind of talk seriously.

I am willing to offer that EWarshington is Montana State Junior.

Here is a recent fashion photo of the Eagles offensive and defensive lines, taken to promote their music video:

How did the Eagles do in their big D2 competition this year? The #1 FCS team in the country must have really won big?

NDSU doesn't play D2s. We play OOC in the Big 12, the MAC, Big 10 and other conferences in Division 1.
