1) The worst SoCon team beat EKU 24-7
2) Samford (3-5 SoCon) took a UCF team that is 7-4 (5-2 CUSA) down to the wire with key injuries on defense
3) App. goes down to the wire with an ECU team that is 7-4 (6-1 in CUSA) down to the wire without Armanti Edwards

The SoCon is better than people think it is, and Elon is the second-best team in the conference.
And the very core of your statement is absolute denial as to the current state of the SoCon. I'm not arguing about the quality of ASU, so your #3 point is moot. And to claim a victory over an OVC team as proof of conference strength would be like the Griz saying that "Hey! We beat SUU, we're good dammit!" :coffee:
SUU would have won the OVC this year :geek:

Elon will be the 7th best team Richmond has played this year. The only two teams worth a **** that they played (Wake & App St) they got rolled. Oh, they look GREAT against the likes of Presbyterian, Davidson, Western Carolina and Wofford....Elon gets ROLLED by Richmond. If this game is closer than 21 I'll be shocked.

No...really were not....we may be decent relative to other conferences this year, but the SoCon is very weak relative to it's normal status. Maybe the 4th best conference this year - maybe - It'll be years before I can talk smack to Big Fluffy fans...

You're incredibly wrong. Richmond does not have the offense to pile on points like that. I'm not sure what gives you the indication they do. :ohno:
I agree
If we win, it will be by 1 or 2 touchdowns
Our run game is not good enough to put up huge numbers offensively
Richmond may win... but, if they do it will be very close.

Yeah, but the Griz are 8-0 in the BSC and Western Carolina is 1-7 in the SoCon. The bottom feeders in the BSC and CAA wouldn't beat EKU.

I think people read way too much into GSU's loss to SDSU. Hatcher went all-out with a mid to deep range passing game and the OL and WRs were clearly not ready for it. After that game we used a more run-oriented offense with a shorter passing game. The offense still wasn't good, but the game would have been much closer if GSU hadn't created 4 turnovers throwing it deep down the field.

I guess there is App's poor defensive game against McNeese, but I'd take McNeese's offense over any of the offense in the CAA.

Hudgins and Riddle could have a big day in this one. If Richmond is able to jump out to lead early then they can fold them. Appalachian was able to do that with three INTs from Riddle and it was over. Stopping Hudgins is key for Richmond, if he breaks out and scores early then Elon could pull off the upset. This Elon team is a lot better than the 2008 squad. This game reminds me a lot of the 2007 playoff match between Montana and Wofford (who won 23-22).

Exactly
We have won games this year with defense
If yall are looking at out 47 and 49 point games that was Georgetown and Hofstra
I say 24 points for UR at MAX

        Offensive Line - Richmond

        Defensive Line - Elon

        Linebackers --- Richmond

        Secondary ---- Richmond

        Kicking ------ Elon

        Punting ------ Elon

        Return Teams - (push)

        Kickoffs ------ Richmond

Haha a very true comment
while the offense did move the ball alot better QB Eric Ward had 3 picks
Also, the offense got 0 TDs in 4 Red zone appearances (2 ints and 2 FG)

Yeah, you're probably right. It's pretty unimpressive that Richmond has won 20 of the last 21 games and last year's National Championship game. Actually, I'd say that Northern Arizona's stellar 5-6 season was pretty unimpressive. Why don't you get your facts straight before you start making claims like that.

A bit touchy, eh?

A three point win is not impressive. And NOTE, I did say the Defending National Champion, so your post was redundant...

And yes, NAU was unimpressive, but that is not the thread title...

And Welcome...

Congrats on UR for the win today. I personally would have played for the TD instead of the 47-yard FG knowing the Elon kicker's range but I'm not the coach. Not trying to take anything away from Richmond, but had the kicker made the short field goal, the outcome may have been different as the momentum was starting to shift towards Elon's favor at the end of the game.
