I totally agree with you when looking at stats, schedules, etc. etc. But then again....my thinking is like Montana's. Refuse to lose.....and screw the stats. As far as the SIU and W&M game......i watched it.....and neither team impressed me. W&M dominated for sure....but wasn't a 51-0 win, or very impressive.ChickenMan wrote:I'd hold off on the Missoula champaign parties for now. After seeing SIU get completely handled by W&M.. At this point you have to throw out all the stats. That was then, and this is now......and it comes down to who wants it most. Montana wants it more then any other team....that has been proven by 81 unanswered points. No other team can say that now.

I'll go out on a limb and say that next weeks opponent will be the best team the UM has faced all year. I'll go out on another limb and say that UM can hang with anybody. Should be a good finish to the playoffs this year.ChickenMan wrote:I'd hold off on the Missoula champaign parties for now. After seeing SIU get completely handled by W&M.. Completely agree on both accounts. No matter which team we play next week, we'll need to bring our A game if we're gonna make it to Chatty.BlueHen86 wrote:I'll go out on a limb and say that next weeks opponent will be the best team the UM has faced all year. I can see the headlines now...TXGRIZZFAN wrote: Montana wants it more then any other team....
COACHES AGREE - GRIZ WANT IT MORE THAN THEIR TEAMS
As teams approach the semi-finals, coaches nationwide agree that the championship of the FCS should be handed to the Montana Grizzlies. To a man, each of the coaches still in the playoffs agreed, arguing the NCAA could save tons of money if they just gave the trophy to Montana.
"It's obvious our team does not want the trophy as much as the Griz" said William and Mary head coach Jimmye Laycock. moments after his team scored a meager 23 points against Southern Illinois University. Despite winning his 200th game as head coach, Laycock said they should just wrap the playoffs up right now because it's obvious the Montana squad wants the championship more than the Tribe. Villinova head coach Andy Talley agreed, after his Wildcat team eliminated New Hampshire earlier this afternoon. "Why should we even play the game", said Talley. Villinova could only score a paltry 46 points in winning their quarterfinal match.

The problem, listening to some CAA posters, is that every time you type - you are putting Montana down by saying, just wait until you have to play the CAA. Heard that before the JMU game last year. Whether it is Richmond or App both teams will have their hands full. Could Montana lose next week? Yep, it has happened before from UMass who then was destroyed by App....just because you lose one game it does not mean you don't belong or don't have a good team....

Happy to see UM fans congratulating themselves to exhaustion, but in the setting of 10 turnovers, 51 points seems like. . . not so much.

So you are saying that SFA just gave Montana those 10 TO's.green&gold75 wrote:Col Hogan wrote:

I think most Griz fans would agree with you. Although we did generate 494 yards of offense.green&gold75 wrote:Happy to see UM fans congratulating themselves to exhaustion, but in the setting of 10 turnovers, 51 points seems like. . . not so much.
SFA turnovers/Montana Result
Interception/Punt
Interception/FG
Fumble/TD
Fumble/TD
Fumble/TD
Interception/Downs
Fumble/TD
Fumble/FG
Interception/Fumble
Interception/FG
So, by my math that's 37 points off of 10 turnovers, turning 7 of the 10 into points. All the turnovers really accomplished was keeping the SFA punter off the field.

Re: #1 Offense in the Nation Getting Handled
Actually, they should have done a little more. What were the teams' time of possession? I would guess that without that many turnovers, the SFA time of possession would have improved, blunting your total offence and scoring numbers. Don't get me wrong; it had to be a strong performance by any interpretation. Must have been a celebration in the stands start to finish.AZGrizFan wrote:I think most Griz fans would agree with you. Putter, you define an 11 point loss as "getting destroyed". How about 10 points. Would that be getting destroyed? 9 points? 8? What is the cutoff for getting destroyed vs not getting destroyed?putter wrote:The problem, listening to some CAA posters, is that every time you type - you are putting Montana down by saying, just wait until you have to play the CAA.
