Speaking of which the game was on ESPN Classic yesterday morning
I knew you'd enjoy that picture.

ESPN Classic? Damn. Wish I had seen it again.
I think it started at 10:15 central. However, that does no good at this point.

Seriously though, had we kept running the ball Corey Lewis would have gone for 300 yards+ and we would have probably won by 20

Lewis couldn't play defense though. And he carried the ball plenty in the second half - 12 of his 20 carries were in the 2nd half. UNI just had trouble keeping up with the scoring and that fumble return for a TD was big.

My point with Lewis is that the first quarter or so, he was up and down the field, across the field, and everywhere he could be on the field against your defense. Trying to get him going again in the second half after not running him really in the second quarter was in issue.

Our defense was fine on first and second down...it was third down that was the issue. I can' count how many times we put you in 3rd and 8+, only have have Flacco hit a WR a yard or two over the first down marker. That game Flacco earned more respect than anyone could have from me. The hit he took on EVERY throw he made would have knocked every other FCS QB out of the game eventually, he just kept getting up and hitting WR's.

The TWO plays that caused us to lose the game. These two plays don't happen we win, and I fully believe that.

Victor Williams fumble returned 55 yards in the second quarter 20 seconds after you had just kicked a field goal.

AND

I think it was 3rd and fucking 30 (I don't think I'm exaggerating much, if at all) and somehow a fucking WR got open down the middle and Flacco hit him for the first down.

Yeah, Flacco had that one pass, while rolling to his right and just before he went out of bounds, where he threw a frozen rope to a WR also just before going out of bounds. A thing of beauty. Also don't underestimate on UD's last scoring drive, just after UNI cut it to 32-27 in the 4th with about 5 minutes to go, UD had a 3rd and 11 from their own 44, and Flacco threw a simple screen to Cuff who had a blocker for the first couple of yards, but ended up getting the first down solely on his own grit. People sold Cuff short on that game, but he still ran for 109 yards that day and had 168 yards from scrimmage, and the 11 he got on that drive saved the game.

He was sold short because what we at panthernationa (were you involved in that invasion of UD fans...still one of the worst weeks in PN history) were told that Cuff would go for 300 yards and 9 TDs.

We expected him to be Bo Jackson

I probably checked the board, but I don't think I was posting.

Remember too about both Cuff and Flacco in those playoffs - UD's offensive line was severely beat up - one starter was lost right before the end of the season and they lost another starter in the first round. One whole side of the OL was manned by undersized players with little game experience. Explains a little of Cuff's decline in the playoffs and even makes Flacco's performance that much more impressive.

Maybe I'll dig through the archives if I get real bored sitting her at work and see what I can find.

I tailgated with some people from UD that day. My buddies and I got to the lot about 7AM with 8 gallons of Apple Pie. The temp was about 25, and it was sleeting all day long with about 40MPH winds. It was absolutely miserable. We kept our backs to the wind the entire time, played some beer can hockey (crush a beer can into a puck and use windshield scrapers as sticks. It was a hell of a lot of fun. The UD's fans we tailgated with were pretty sweet too.

Went into the game with about 2 inches of ice on my back and back of my legs.

It was a hell of a game though

Not to sound like an uncaring turd, but SIX years? That's like the 22 year old kid who is still in high school. If you haven't graduated by then...
The NCAA grants BYU players 6 & 7 years to play 4 seasons. Look at BYU's roster; many of the Seniors first roster year is 2005 and likely a few are 2004. They roster Freshman year, serve a 2 year church mission, some redshirt 1 year to get back in football condition and then play their final 3 years, graduating as 25/26 year old.

The NCAA and the State of Delaware are at war. As it always is with the NCAA; it either about the money or the politics. The athletes are solely their vehicle to the power and the dough.

Do not try to understand the NCAA. Sometimes, I think they flip a coin to make their decisions.

How do they not approve that but then turn around and approve a medical RS for 3 guys that were hurt in the third game of the season last year for Carolina? Makes you wonder what kind of criteria is used beside not playing in more than 4 games they use to be approved.

I was one of the people you were tailgating with. Me and my crew drove all night to get there in that snow storm. You'll be glad to know we took that Apple Pie recipe home with us, and its in steady roation at the tailgates!

Sadly I'm not in that picture, I may have been in the pisser. The guy on the right was the best man at my wedding and I lived with him for over a year, and the guy on the far left is one of my best friends...the other UNI guys, I have no idea. I think I was wearing my Michigan coat, but I don't remember if I wore it or wore something else because of the colors.

You can attest to how shitty the weather was that day. NO ONE would have wanted to watch that game that day. Normally that lot is 3/4th full, I think we were the only two groups out there that day. The three of us (the two in the picture I know and myself) got shit faced two days before that game making 8 or 10 gallons of it. It was tough to keep it warm though...it is much better that way.
