The Tub (UD) Expansion Drawings
Re: The Tub (UD) Expansion Drawings
It looks like they are going after the Kinnick Stadium (Iowa Hawkeyes) layout that they went to when they redid the stadium a couple years ago
Re: The Tub (UD) Expansion Drawings
I'm hoping they put in an escalator and an upper concourse for those in the double letter rows. My dad's knees are close to being shot, and I am considering giving up some of my view from row JJ and moving down to give him a break. But, if they make it easier to get up there I'll stay.
For those not familiar, all exits at Delaware Stadium are at the bottom. The stadium goes up to row PP (ie. 42 rows) and there are only six exits on each side for roughly ten thousand people per side. It takes quite a while for the stadium to empty. Adding top exits would be a nice improvement.

Outstanding! Love the endzone seating. Exactly what I'd like to see at The ROCK. Looking more like Delaware, JMU, Liberty, ODU, & ASU are well on their way to becomming a core group which could make up a very nice Mid Atlantic Conference.

Yawn...these are really no different than the hubalooed South Campus redesign drawings. Harker strategically unveiled them at Forum/Reunion weekend, probably as a nice way to get people to open their wallets.
If the U is smart AND serious about this, they'll have a promo video up and running at the WCUPA scrimmage. If there's nothing of that sort, I really can't and WON'T believe them. We've been down this road before already...
The drawings of the changes coming to the BOB are all well and good, but they're not doing any major work with the groundbreaking that's already (?) taken place there. Just a little cosmetic add-on. Certainly won't become that beheamoth shown in the pics anytime soon.

Re: The Tub (UD) Expansion Drawings
They were supposed to have something under the stands last year, (or the year before, I forget at this point) for people to see. But I agree, no reason to not play a video for people on the big screen, if they're smart they''d make it a UDAF video, tie everything UDAF to that, even though they claim it's not directly where the $$ goes, people will be more likely to put down $$ when they see the carrot. Oh yeah, a date of groundbreaking and/or completion would go a long way as well. Thank you for attending Marketing 101.00bluehen wrote: Yawn...these are really no different than the hubalooed South Campus redesign drawings. With the fundraising efforts you would think slapping the name of a business on the stadium could be the prize for the top bidder. I'm sure they'll keep Tubby Raymond field - but if they did sell the name of the structure what would you prefer? Also, thoughts as to if the new U in the north endzone would switch where the team runs out? I hope the keep it underneath the student section.

Hard to understand. Delaware is one of the most well heeled schools in the nation.00bluehen wrote: Yawn...these are really no different than the hubalooed South Campus redesign drawings. Unfortunately, the football program is looked at as more as a giver than a receiver; a cash cow if you will. The University is only throwing it the bones necessary to keep the ticket holders from revolting, thus assuring the revenue still flows to pay for all the sports that no one gives a shit about and which would be unsustainable without football subsidizing them.AppMan wrote:Hard to understand. Gilbert bit the dust already. Perkins, too...huge changes on the north side.bluehenbillk wrote:

The campus has changed dramatically in recent years - all for the better (except the closing of the B&G Club). The town has changed too....they are bending the Main Street "feel", and the red brick architecture, around to Elkton Rd past Apple Rd. (where the bridge over the RR tracks w/the 7-11 store on the corner). As the town brings in more national chains, there are more marketing/sponsorship opportunities for the athletic teams.

If Dickinson was considered a cinder block cell, then I certainly remember some of the overnite conjugal visits fondly.89Hen wrote:I lived in those cinder block cells.bluehenbillk wrote:P.S. Rodney & Dickinson dorms bite the dust too.

Yup, Dickinson for me as well. Dorms themselves were perfectly fine, just the location that kinda sucked.

It's really a shame that Frank Perdue got mixed up with Salisbury State, because the tie in with Perdue and a school with a Hen for a mascot would have been priceless.

Nicest dorms I remember was the girls dorm at Warner. 10-12' ceilings, big ass windows, close to the infirmary for the day after.Cluck U wrote:Later Pencader, top floor...nice high, vaulted ceilings.

If it goes down the way they've presented it, then it would be nicer...in my opinion...30,000 people with all the comforts of a modern stadium mixed with the tradition of our old one...that's tough to beat. I would like to make it out and see Washington-Griz someday.
