Peterson and Edwards 1 and 1-a in no particular order then a HUGE dropoff to everybody else. The best players play on the best teams and those two were clearly the best RB and best QB in the division in the last 15 years+. Both will be in the College HOF one day and there is not another player on that list who is the mortal lock for enshrinement those two are.

Peterson and Edwards not only had the stats but they competed and succeeded at the very highest level of the division year in and year out and both made the clutch plays that won multiple titles. Both players were class personified and graduated.

This is in no way meant as a knock against any of the other players as they were all very good players but Peterson and Edwards were once in a generation champions whose accomplishments will forever be remembered. They were the bell cows of the entire division.

Well, the best players don't always play on the best teams (am I the only one that thinks that is an asinine statement?). I'm just glad there a a few more names thrown in the mix other than Peterson and Westbook. ;)

Sorry, I couldn't resist. In all honesty, I saw him play a few times...excellent QB. It's nice to see him back at UNI this season. :thumb:
I sure hope UNI has changed their UNIs, because those just look god-awful. Purple helmets, blue jerseys and black pants? :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:
Since that pircture we have gotten different tops and gotten an "upgrade" on the finish of the helmets. The best part is the jersey and helmet color now match! It actually looks very nice now I feel. However, there are still those UNI fans who don't like the black pants, simply because black isn't "an official school color", and they want us to go to white pants....even though white isn't an "official school color".

First of all, yes we have changed our uniforms as that was several years ago. And no, those uniforms are not blue, its just from the lighting.

But I find it funny that an Eastern Washington fan could make fun of any other teams uniform after EWU has been wearing abominations such as these for the last several years....

We have gold practice pants. I don't know how we ended up with them, but they are UCLA's old game pants (or something like that) so they are a gold, not a yellow like we use though.

We tried a gold top back in 1993, I believe. I used to know where to find a photo of it but that website has since disappeared/moved. I'll try to find that back...

Jesse Chatman should have some consideration, although not as big a name as some of the others mentioned on here. Certainly he was at least as good if not better than Humphrey at Montana during the same time.

"Chatman played for the Eastern Washington University Eagles of the Big Sky Conference from 1999-2001. During his tenure, Chatman was an AP I-AA All-America selection, Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of Year and a first-team all-conference selection. He recorded the fourth-highest single-season rushing total in I-AA history, amassing 2,096 rushing yards. Chatman finished his career with 4,173 yards and 53 touchdowns.

Compared to the purple of the helmets, those jerseys are blue. Either way, at least our old uni's matched. :thumb:

Your new ones look pretty good, and EWU's new all black ones look downright badass. :thumb:

I agree...those two are the clear top-two IMO.

And for those that would say AP is a system back...you could argue that but AP is the first and only GSU RB to win the WP award. It's not like RBs put up ridiculous numbers year after year. For a DI back to get 4000 yards in a career is almost unheard of. But AP has over nine frikkin' thousand. That's just insane and I don't care what system you are in.

People often forget about the 2nd best running back ever to wear blue and gold at UD, and who helped Flacco do his thing, Omar Cuff. He would be a dark horse favorite for one of best FCS players of the '00s in my humble partisan opinion;)
On December 12, 1775 the Continental Congress created a Battalion of minuteman from the three counties in Delaware. Kent county militia were fans and owners of Game Cocks; Fight'n Blue Hens as they were called. The Fight'n Blue Hens became known far and wide as the very best Fighting Game Cocks around. Thus, the Blue Hen was established.

I still say Charles Roberts is the best running back in FCS history. I don't have his stats on hand, nor do I want to look them up, but I'm fairly certain that they are at least as good if not better than AP's #'s(I know in one game he rushed for over 400 yards  ). And he played on a team with far less talent, and didn't have the benefit of playing in a triple option offense where the back gets the ball on 75% of the play's called.

The back doesn't get the ball on 3/4 of the team's plays in an option offense. The team runs that much (or more), but the carries are generally split between the FB, QB, & one or two HBs.

Roberts actually averaged more carries per game than Peterson. Peterson averaged 23.7 for his career while Roberts averaged 25.5. Peterson also averaged 6.6 ypc while Roberts averaged 5.8.

And come on, he got his 400 yards against Idaho State. That barely even counts. ;)

Pick the top two or three QBs in FCS this decade and put their final stats here. I'll go with Edwards and Flacco as two I thought were tops. Where would I find their final stats? :geek:

So....a 2 year old photo is too old to be made fun of. HOWEVER, a photo of a UNI jersey from 5 seasons ago isn't?

Apparently you never saw Brian Westbrook play a I-AA game. Westbrook was the most dangerous player I have ever seen at the I-AA level and it isn't even close. Westbrook could kill you in three ways.. rushing.. receiving.. and returning. He is the ONLY player inn the history of NCAA football to rush and receive for over 1000 yrds in the same season. Westbrook's talent was obviously greater then AP's.. as was established by their professional careers. While AP struggled to get off the bench with the Bears.. Westbrook became the same kind of player in the NFL that he was in college.. one of the most feared in the game.

But you can't base how good they were in college on NFL starts and stats.

He posted college stats too, here I'll highlight it for you. The NFL career is just the icing on the cake. And as far as QB's go, I'll say that Ochs from the Griz was a pretty impressive 2 year starter.

Flacco is a great player and is a top 15 NFL QB right now. But comparing Flacco and AE (in college) is laughable.

You're not far off, but it's all in perspective. Flacco has already developed into a top-shelf NFL QB & is a multi-miilionaire. Edwards in 3 years will be A: Selling insurance, B: In jail, or C: Bouncing around AFL2
