Re: Throwback Uniforms
As in most sports, as you already know, I'm a purist. That goes for unis, too. I prefer the classic ones, though there ARE exceptions.
For example, Steelers pre-black and gold should stay buried. The Packers and original Bronco unis should stay shelved, too.
That said, the Orange Crush Bronco unis and the original Whiners and Patsies unis ought to come back. The original Seahawks and Bucs unis should ALSO make a return.
I like the rainbow Astros unis, the pitchfork Mariners, ChiSox softball (though the modern ones are OK, too), original Blue Jays, and baby blue Royals unis. I'd like to outlaw the pants-to-the-ground look in baseball.
I'd like to dump this stylized S on Hornet unis and go back to the good ol' SAC, but I know I'm in the minority on that. Nike's "revolution" in uniforms should be banned. In general, I like the old fashioned circles around the shoulders at all levels from Pop Warner to the NFL. And the blackout look (really, ANY monochrome look) should ALSO be banned.
Don't get me started on mascots or NBA unis....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

A little off the sbuject, but it is nice to get some attention from a publication like The Bleacher report.

I'm sorry, Montana Fans, I can not figure out why you are so proud of those pumpkin uniforms. I cringe every time I see them
I have to say I liked the unis we wore until 2 years ago.
That said, our current ones are plain and simple and I like those even better (ok, maybe not better but just as well?). Nothing fancy about 'em. They just say "play the game"

Texas State's "throwbacks" are better than their current.

Re: Throwback Uniforms
Went from Nike to Adidas (I think?) so they changed. I'm ok with the new ones, except they don't have anything that distinguishes them from anyone else (ie: no U. name anywhere). The "old" ones weren't even that old. They only wore them a few years. Wish they had kept them...especially miss the stripe on the helmuts.
I even think the gold changed too.

Re: Throwback Uniforms
Their current ones are just too plain. Looks like they were going for the "Notre Dame" look. My school did the same.

Re: Throwback Uniforms
They need to have "Texas State" or "State" or "Bobcats" or stripes down the leg or shoulder stripes or something. I'm ok with the gold pants over the white but they need something else. Just not too much.
heard rumors of new unis this year but we'll have to see if that actually happens.

Re: Throwback Uniforms
Cant find any pics of our old jerseys but here is a video on youtube i found showing our oldschool look alike unis that we wore back in 2001 (think that was our last year wearing them). Have to say no way i am a fan of those or ever will be. Ill gladly stick with the new ones. Also its nice to see us beat the Wildcats .

the blue is closer to the Columbia Blue that is our actual school color. Plus it was the first uniform that we had with names on the jersey.

You ain't a Montana fan, you weren't there for the history and don't get it. We like it that way. In fact, the outsiders not liking them adds to our fondness of them.CatMom wrote:I'm sorry, Montana Fans, I can not figure out why you are so proud of those pumpkin uniforms. Hey, you guys like your yam suits, that's cool with me. I think the new colors are much improved, but I'm just an ignorant hillbilly.Ursus A. Re: Throwback Uniforms
They're not "new" colors for us either. They were silver and maroon, then copper and gold, and back to maroon and silver if I'm not mistaken.
And Montana's official school colors are copper, gold and silver. Our SPIRIT colors are burgundy and silver.

True. I think Kem knows the exact dates but our colors were originally the maroon/silver and then they were changed in about the mid to late 60's unti. the 1996 season.Willie wrote:They're not "new" colors for us either. Re: Throwback Uniforms
That would be Dedric Ward who is going into the UNI HOF this year, and is on the coaching staff...or at least was this past spring.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:He looks different there.clenz wrote:UNI circa the early/mid 90's....Kurt Warner days if you will
Here is another photo from the time.
I wouldn't mind seeing those for a game a season...or even going back to a similar look full time. However, I think Coach Farley likes the black pants.
I wish I could get a shot of the helmet, because it was a lot like the Seahawks logo coming from the back of the helmet
