Greeley, CO - I don't remember the smell, but it didn't seem like a great city when I was there.

And how is Cedar Falls better than those three? Carbondale is a great town, lots to do

Flagstaff is a great college town - lot to do, beautiful location, close enough to Phoenix that you can go there if you want.

Now Murray...not so much :) You do have LBL close by, which is nice, and I think you can actually buy liquor there now, so it is looking up.

Charleston, South Carolina is a terrible place. The people are mean and greet outsiders with a torch and a pitchfork. There is absolutely nothing to see or do here. Kids hate it here as there is a city law that no candy or fun is allowed within the limits of the city. Old people and Jews who visit are immediately sold to Miami, Fl.

So PLEASE don't come. you'll hate it

I was expecting a Griz, but a Bear will do. :thumb:
I remember when we went to W. Va. and were told about all the Mountains.

You have got be fucking kidding me calling that shit Mountains? The hill behind WaGriz is as big as those Mountains were.

Boones got some elevation though like Missoula and the Mountains I've seen look fairly close to the hills of W. VA but a whole lot better to look at in NC.

Hell the Alleghany in W. VA were just a little higher in elevation than most towns street level here.
I think Mt. Sentinel behind the stadium is actually a little higher than the Alleghany's. Not sure but it's pretty close.

Here are the hills right behind the stadium.

You start getting into better Mountains a little outside of town Here's a pic looking down Main Street of Ronan.

You are correct The Lakes & LBL are nice and Nashville is near by ,other than the campus which is great, the rest of town is quiet. It is now a "Moist" town. Liquor with food only. County line isnt far away.

A mountain appellation in the US is any land formation with elevation over 1000 ft. The west has what are considered high mountains.

Def = "a natural elevation of the earth surface rising more or less abruptly from the surrounding level and attaining an altitude which, relatively to the adjacent elevation, is impressive or notable."

Laugh your asses off, I could care. Go to the Himalayas or Alps and they'd laugh at you.

let's all be ignorant, shall we?

Sorry, bluehen, but I get tired of everyone/thing in Montana being better than anywhere else in the world - it's fucking Montana! I'd rather be in TX with it's rolling hills and 60 degrees in December than up to my ass in snow and freezing my way through winter.

FWIW - the mountains in TX are named the Davis Mountains

I will.

If people from either the Himalayas or the Alps were in Montana and I were trying to tell them how impressive our mountain ranges were and they laughed their asses off at me I would expect it.

That would be exactly analogous to the situation I was describing, but not the one you were using. :thumb:

These mountains were named after Jefferson Davis, U.S. Secretary of War and later President of the Confederacy, who ordered the construction of the Fort Davis army post.

Not only that but I'm pretty sure the thread was about promoting what we thought was a good atmosphere.

Mountains were mentioned and then she said some other shit that was as unimportant as a Texas Winter so I wanted to let it be known that we are well equipped in that area.

Catmom, it is better here. We're glad that most of the country are too big of pussies and need a fucking 60 degree winter. Seriously, we are very glad for that. :thumb:

A River (San Marcos River) runs through it (the campus) and Sewell Park (on campus) is a great hang-out spot between classes and weekends. (for swimming, etc)

The town now has about 15,000 and built up because of the U. 30,000+ students add to the population. Austin is 30 miles north and San Antonio is 45 miles south (gotten to quickly because of the interstate). There are a lot of places to go tubing, hiking, running, etc., and a lot of bars, etc within SM but many go to Austin's famous 6th street, on weekends. Lots of lakes, rivers and low mountains in the area, a Six Flags in SA and Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels (about 20 miles south)

Most everything you need to do, or need to buy can be had in and around SM.

I do have to say I love seeing pics of App St. Always loved the mountains.
App St doesn't have Mountains and for sure Texas doesn't either. Come to Colorado and you'll see mountains.

You're absolutely right - not a mountain to be found around western NC - I took this picture of a Boone cornfield on my way out of town today. ;)

Missoula, Appy, the best.

Idaho state and eastern washington the worst. Why because nobody cares and the facilties are sht. You may have a nice new red field but your stadium still sux, and it will still be empty except when the Griz come to play.

By the way those aren't mountains these are.

Pcatello ain't good no doubt about it.

Cheney is great though. It's a different setting than what you find normally with a college basically in a small farm town experience.

Boone,NC is a great college town. The community (Boone/Watauga Co.) and App State are one and as soon as you step foot into the town you recognize that. For the most part the locals are good people and welcome visitors and crowds. You have the landscape to enjoy and there's a variety of things to go and do whether that be golfing, skiing, boarding, fishing, hiking, biking, etc. Not to mention the Rock is a hell of a venue to watch a football game. My favorite FBS college town would be Knoxville, TN. Went to game there a few years back and it was great.
