That is our coaches creed, our players creed and our fans(we try to stick to it, but it's a long time to football still so we get itchy).
But I can talk about other teams ad nauseum: :D
I simply don't agree with NDSU making the playoffs, and there are many NDSU fans who won't say it publicly, but no it will take a monumental effort to turn that team right side up. And no they will not get the Dakota Marker back from State. Not because I'm a fan, but sincerely because they aren't going to be better than 4 wins this year. Seriously what is the difference between last year and this year? The answer is probably less arrests.
MSU is one of the better returning teams in the league...they simply will not have 1 win! It's a ridiculous statement.
I agree Ill State sounds good and they will be better and will trounce everyone in the middle 3.
UNI will be down again! Lost both their Defensive and offensive leaders and probably some of their identity. Say what you want but that's hard to overcome. Mostly they "beat themselves", at least that's what their players say in the papers, so no one should really have to show up against them. Especially if they lost their leaders.
SIU always tough to crack, no doubt about it, but replacing Deji is going to be harder than advertised. My guess is SIU loses two games this year.
NDSU could've picked up a few more wins last year pretty easily. They were in the UNI game the whole time. They could easily pick up a few more wins, especially if they surprise someone. Regardless of what you think, the Fargodome is a difficult place to play and keeping winning streaks against rivals is a hard thing to do.

MSU could have a few more wins. They could beat both Indiana State and Western Illinois and surprise a team or two. They could also have the ball bounce the wrong way this season and end up on the wrong side of a few 3-7 pt games. I don't know whay som people are so high on them. Most of their 5 losses last year were complete beatdowns, and two of the games they barely won. People say they're deeper, but depth doesn't do a lot when your first teamers are getting beat early and often.

SIU losing Deji isn't a big deal. Look at their history of RBs and their system. They'll be fine.

I've never seen a UNI quote where they said they beat themselves with the exception of Pat Grace after the SDSU game last year. I think it's been proven since that he was a cancer to the team. He may have been skilled but ruined chemistry. Look at their comeback at Illinois State once he got injured.

Ya know, people always give easterners a hard time for being loud and rude, but the CAA preview and this thread are so very different.

MVFC fan who disagrees: you're an idiot, how could you possibly think that, etc
CAA fan who disagrees: I can see this, but I see this team being much more improved than you are thinking.

Food for thought. :coffee:

My concern with SDSU this year is their offense. I watched the NDSU and MN games last year, and SDSU's offense is nothing great. I'm not sold on TOB, and depending on how your oline holds up this year is a big question mark. Minnett (sp?) is a good back, but teams will just stack the box.
I'm sorry did you say SDSU fans need to chill out? You are aware of Bisonville correct? Where every win demands national attention and every loss puts Fargo on suicide watch? Just asking. :D (good natured ribbing there)

The concern with SDSU last year was the offense. Next year? Concern will be the Offense. Year after that? Offense. Teams did stack the box, including yours. Not too successful for the most part. SO good luck with that. Say what you want about MN, they are still a BIG 10 FBS school. With a BIG 10 Defense, who had to win by kicking a field goal in the last few seconds of the game.

My hope is the whole MVFC is not sold on SDSU. I hope your fanbases aren't sold on SDSU. I hope no one shows to your games. My hope is you think TOB is overrated. That Minnett is a one-trick back. That you forget about all the other players on the field. Batten is gone, that's great, the State defense sucks now. That you all think this is your year.
I'm glad this guy wrote this review of the MVFC and you all are lapping it up, I hope you show your players. These are my hopes.

Stig has had a winning record every year of his career, I believe, except maybe one. That's pretty tough to do no matter what. Dollar for Dollar every other school in the MVFC outspends State. So what's the problem? I gave $50 this week to the Fball program, so all the other schools need to raise a $1000 dollars to offset that and stay competitive.

Knock blue-collar hard working football all you want, but it wins games. :D

Yup. We heard the same thing afterTom Koutsos, Muhammad Abdul Qaddir, and Brandon Jacobs. Plus we're going to be running a lot more full spread offense.

Outside of MSU, I would agreed more or less with what FCS had.

Like Cap said his knowledge of the FCS is deep. I know FCS and he is a great guy with a great FCS knowledge. I don't agree with 1-10, but have had a conversation with him off and the board and his reasoning is fairly sound, he just has MSU not getting any of the breaks this year.

I agree with him on SDSU to an extend. They have the hardest schedule int the MVFC and they may only get 1 OOC win. That means to get to 8 wins they have to win at least 7 MVFC games this year. That means they would have to run their home schedule (4 games) and that means beating at least 3 of the following on the road: UNI, SIU, ISUB, and NDSU. I would only give them one win for sure out of those three. Even if NDSU is bad this year it is a rivalry game for a trophy, that means that no matter how good the teams are it will be hell.

SDSU very easily could be 1-5 after the first 6 games. If they go better than 4-2 they should be a national title team. 3-3 would be a success, and 2-4 is likely.

Gonna try. Gotta be working by then or Mama Cat will kibosh it faster than Rush Limbaugh can put away a double meat grinder. Stop on the way and pick up D and OSBF and ISUMatt it would be a hoot and a half. 'Bout time I went to SalukiTalk and stirred the bees, too, ain't it?

Update is right that we were about a play away from winning four of the games we lost last year. Honestly I've never seen a defense as banged up as we were last year, there were games where we had no linebackers left to put into the game if a player got hurt, hell we even tried to convert a RB into a LB halfway through the season. Plus there seemed to be a disconnect between our defense and the D-Cord all season.

Now Bohl has taken the defense back under his wing and is moving it to where it was schematically a few years ago. Which was much more effective than the dysfunctional mess of a defense I watched much of last year.

NDSU should be much better this year. That said we are young, which is good and bad. It is hard to win at a high level with youth but in our last few classes Bohl has placed an emphasis on speed. Which if you ask houndawg has been sorely lacking for NDSU as of late.

100% with this. Sorry I kind of shot my mouth off about the initial predictions from FCS. I thought with my fan hat first and football hat second. You are very correct in all of this, SDSU could end up looking extremely good or extemely bad this year cause of this schedule. It will depend on (IMHO) whether or not SDSU's team knows how to win or lose without the leaders from last year, because I think these games will all be close. And even if they do go 4-1 or even 1-4 through those games, they will either be an extremely battle tested and a team no one wants to play, or beat to hell and shit for the rest of the year. As a fan I am 100% for the first option, but time will tell. I think my jackrabbit brethren are feeling kind of burned from the prediction because there is a lot of optimisom for this year from last years success, and they feel that that should have earned respect, which I know from reading on here for a long while of reading from here now there is a healthy amount of it, but they don't realize it yet. So to my Jack bretheren, CHILL OUT, we got this. :thumb:

(However, I reserve the right to talk shit about kicking everyones asses all over the field this year  )

My favorite is the second one in on the right. Name is Patrick Angle. Was Ohio's Division 2 player of the year. Had amazing stats. However it will take him some time before he ever becomes our starter.

:thumb:

(However, I reserve the right to talk shit about kicking everyones asses all over the field this year  )
If you get 8 wins with your schedule, even if you don't win a playoff game, I feel that you have earned the right to talk a fair amount of shit. That is a man's schedule.
