NDSU could've picked up a few more wins last year pretty easily. They were in the UNI game the whole time. They could easily pick up a few more wins, especially if they surprise someone. Regardless of what you think, the Fargodome is a difficult place to play and keeping winning streaks against rivals is a hard thing to do.Theee Catrabbit wrote:1st off if you notice my post: I wasn't mad that State had even been dumped out of making the playoff. I can see where someone would look at that schedule from the outside and say "Oh Gee, I don't see how they are going to make it". I am adhering to the SDSU mantra of 1-0 every week. That is our coaches creed, our players creed and our fans(we try to stick to it, but it's a long time to football still so we get itchy).
But I can talk about other teams ad nauseum:![]()
I simply don't agree with NDSU making the playoffs, and there are many NDSU fans who won't say it publicly, but no it will take a monumental effort to turn that team right side up. And no they will not get the Dakota Marker back from State. Not because I'm a fan, but sincerely because they aren't going to be better than 4 wins this year. Seriously what is the difference between last year and this year? The answer is probably less arrests.
MSU is one of the better returning teams in the league...they simply will not have 1 win! It's a ridiculous statement.
I agree Ill State sounds good and they will be better and will trounce everyone in the middle 3.
UNI will be down again! Lost both their Defensive and offensive leaders and probably some of their identity. Say what you want but that's hard to overcome. Mostly they "beat themselves", at least that's what their players say in the papers, so no one should really have to show up against them. Especially if they lost their leaders.
SIU always tough to crack, no doubt about it, but replacing Deji is going to be harder than advertised. My guess is SIU loses two games this year.
MSU could have a few more wins. They could beat both Indiana State and Western Illinois and surprise a team or two. They could also have the ball bounce the wrong way this season and end up on the wrong side of a few 3-7 pt games. I don't know whay som people are so high on them. Most of their 5 losses last year were complete beatdowns, and two of the games they barely won. People say they're deeper, but depth doesn't do a lot when your first teamers are getting beat early and often.
SIU losing Deji isn't a big deal. Look at their history of RBs and their system. They'll be fine.
I've never seen a UNI quote where they said they beat themselves with the exception of Pat Grace after the SDSU game last year. I think it's been proven since that he was a cancer to the team. He may have been skilled but ruined chemistry. Look at their comeback at Illinois State once he got injured.
