Re: AD at Cal Poly Football Future
Why would Poly hold a press conference alone to announce that Poly and davis were admitted to the Big Sky?
You would think that if that was the case it would be announced by the Conference with the AD from Poly and davis in attendance.
I haven't heard anything about a announcement from davis or from the Conference. I think that it's more likely about something specific to Poly football, large donation, stadium expansion, something like that.

+1. I've been thinking the same thing. I'd expect a conference to make the announcement first wrt a move or an invite.Green Laser wrote:Why would Poly hold a press conference alone to announce that Poly and davis were admitted to the Big Sky?

Cal Poly record the last 6 years:
2003: 7-4
2004: 9-2
2005: 9-4
2006: 7-4
2007: 7-4
2008: 8-3
2009: 4-7
Cal Poly is 5-0 against Sac State during that time and went to the playoffs twice. What were Sac States records those years? How many D-IAA/FCS playoffs games has Sac State played in?
Re: AD at Cal Poly Football Future
What have you done for me lately? I think highly of Sac State and hope we play them more often. I just was responding to your crack about us maybe dropping football after barely beating Humbolt State. I think Cal Poly has a rich football tradition and one bad game (one that we won) does not change that. Oh did I mention that Cal Poly has a National Championship in football?Green Cookie Monster wrote:Overall series is tied.SloStang wrote: Didn't a 4-7 Cal Poly team beat the snot out of Sac State last year 38-19? Actually I think that they lead the series by 1 something like 15-16. It was tied but they won last year.SloStang wrote:What have you done for me lately? They have about the same split series record with davis. An interesting point is that many of those games were played in the DII years when neither we or davis gave scholarships and Cal Poly was a scholarship DII program and when we went to DI with limited scholarships while Poly was fully funded. I liked playing Poly, too bad our current 8 game BSC commitment made it hard for us to fit them in the schedule. Someday down the road I am sure we will get back together in a expanded BSC or some other conference.

BYU announced their press conference before the WCC. Actually, I don't remember the WCC ever announcing a press conference.SDHornet wrote:+1. I've been thinking the same thing. BYU has a ego larger than almost any conference. As far as they are concerned the WCC accepted their invite...SJHornet wrote:BYU announced their press conference before the WCC. More on the Cal Poly announcement or "TBA" as it is called here.

Like I said on eGriz...I think the Big Sky will be very happy campers this week. At least in the football sense.

Both have done nothing since moving to D1. USD lost to UNI 90-20 the last two season.dbackjon wrote:pantherrob82 wrote:I don't like the idea of us adding UND and USD. I'd prefer Drake going scholly, MN State-Mankato, One of the D-III UW's or even EIU coming back.
Why all the UNI hate for the UxD's? Both were solid programs in D2, and as primary state schools, much bigger upside than anything else in the area.
I'd rather bring EIU back, and wait for NWMOST to move up.
NWMOST could beat both of those programs right now, and offers a lot more in terms of dedication to the sport of football than either of those two.
Heck, I'd like to see Drake move up rather than USD.

SDSU struggled during transition. NDSU didn't. Transition doesn't mean anything
UNC was a D2 power. Now, not so much.
UND and USD have much more potential than D+ or NWMSU

NWMOST would handle USD and UND right now.dbackjon wrote:SDSU struggled during transition. NDSU didn't. Transition doesn't mean anything

NWMOST gets players that MoSt, UNI, SIU, etc.. all recruit. They are a D1 team playing with D2 rules.

This years UND team is closer to the one that lost to an NAIA school last year, not the team that Lennon brought to CF in 2006Gil Dobie wrote:Heard some UNI folks saying they were going to roll over UND a couple years ago too.UNI31f wrote: NWMOST would handle USD and UND right now.

UND and USD are already better than Indiana State and Western Illinois.UNI31f wrote:UND is hardly "close".dbackjon wrote:

I don't want teams just because they are "close". I would like teams that aren't terrible in our conference, USD and UND fit into that category.

I'd love to see WIU and ISUB dropped. The problem is ISUB is an all sport MVC member, and i would think that the conference would have a hard time going you don't belong in our football conference, the our all sports conference is fine.
WIU had been respectable until about 3 years ago, and ISUB is improving to the point where I believe in the next 4 years they will become a middle of the pack MVFC team.

Re: AD at Cal Poly Football Future
So if SUU is coming on as a full member, CP & UCD as football only, why are the other 2 not talking? If it's true then Sac St. will want to join the Big West and be fb only like the other 2. 9/12 conf.
If CP is coming for fb only alone that would be worse. Sac St. would go to the BW and be fb only making 8/10

Agreed. I think Suck State IMMEDIATELY asks for the same deal Poly and Davis are allegedly getting.Fresno St. Alum wrote:So if SUU is coming on as a full member, CP & UCD as football only, why are the other 2 not talking? Maybe Sac St. is going to join the WAC soon so the Big Sky isn't worried about them asking to go to the BW for other sports. It would be a weird 9/11 if they left. I guess UCD or Portland St. or Montana could end up leaving too for a 8/10AZGrizFan wrote:Agreed. I agree. If we are planning to stay in the FCS we should definitely ask for the same CP deal to be football only…if they do come on board as football only. And I also started thinking about the WAC issue as well FSA. The BSC needs to keep a presence in CA for recruiting purposes. If Sac State has indicated they will go to the WAC if invited, it makes logical sense for the BSC to add CP and/or cal-davis to fill the CA void Sac State would leave.Fresno St. Alum wrote:Maybe Sac St. is going to join the WAC soon so the Big Sky isn't worried about them asking to go to the BW for other sports. I hope you guys end up in the WAC. If you guys join the BW for other sports as the 10th member, you'll be throwing a cock block on CS Bakersfield getting in, unless they go to 12 bringing in UCSD from D-II who wants to be D-I according to their athletic fee hike to move up.SDHornet wrote:I agree. Re: AD at Cal Poly Football Future
I haven’t really thought about the Big West issue and I don’t really care. I’d much rather see cal-davis and CP join the Sky as full members but above all else I’d much prefer to be in the WAC. The problem is pretty much every school president of the remaining WAC schools have all said something along the lines of “We are committed to the WAC…..but we are looking at all the options that best fit our school.” Great way to show a unified front of keeping the WAC alive.Fresno St. Alum wrote:I hope you guys end up in the WAC. Highly doubt the Big Sky would allow Sac to become football member only.
