Nobody in the past few threads has said anything wrong. That's why you have to use multiple tools if you want to put together a credible poll yourself. GPI and BCS have adopted a similar methodology.

No. It won't be settled on the field. Last year the computers ranked Richmond above Appalachian after App beat them on their home field in the playoffs.

**** computers.
So, it WAS settled on the field. It's not like they were playing for higher Sagarin ratings.

They compute more than computer models that rely SOLELY on limited data. The computers don't know if the starting QB is knocked out of a game, or there are monsoon conditions, or a bad officiating call, or any number of any other factors. They are also written by guys who rank chess players and don't know the first thing about football.
And the human voters rely SOLELY on limited data- their brains!

So do away with both.

In I-AA no computer poll has ever out predicted the AGS Poll. You can't say the reverse.
I agree do away with both until at least the mid point of the season (After week 6). Example of how the human polls are crap pre season & Sept just using CAA teams. I don't follow the polls till late Oct. But from what I heard, after UMass beat W&M on Sept 3rd, I read W&M was still higher in the polls. Also after Nova lost to Temple and JMU beat VT, I read that Nova was still ranked higher in these polls. How do you fathom that? Well, someone is going to come on here and say that because W&M was ranked so much higher, and Nova was the defending Nat Champs...Well, that was LAST YEAR. Last year should have NOTHING to do with any polls this year. Yet that is exactly what the human polls do.

You can't say that no computer poll has outperformed the Sportsnetwork and Coaches (ahem, SID) polls (which are the polls that the schools, media, and most of the fans go off of). Their ORV was always laughable. And since Ralph and his minions on AGS drove off most of their most knowledgeable posters, I wouldn't put too much stock in their poll anymore.

Bottom line is we don't need no polls or computer rankings. That's what we have the playoffs for. :thumb:

I hate to nitpick but brains are not data, they are a resourse, but again, human brains write the computer models, so what does that say about them?
