Also remember that MSU has only played three MVC games...but if you want to keep your head squarely in the bull formation I guess you wouldn't be incorrect...but the eyeball tests say Mo State and illinois State will continue to put up alot of points...not worth arguing over it will settle itself out...

Is the NCAA website...not saying MVFC isn't always right but you have to take all games into account....

UNI has only played three conference games as well....Those weren't conference only stats, those were season.

I got curious as to who Missouri State has played, so I looked up where they rank in terms of defense.

Eastern Kentucky - 57th ranked defense in the FCS
Kansas State - 81st ranked FBS defense
Illioins State - 113th ranked defense in the FCS
Youngstown State - 85th ranked defense
Murray State - 100th ranked defense
Indiana State - the best defense they've played so far...ranked 55th

I wasn't talking Missouri State, I said Illinois State...read please. That's why I said 29th ranked in the nation. Illinois State is bottom half of conference in terms of total offense, so being ranked that high isn't *that impressive* to me

Also just so MVFC fans know ISU blue has an all D-1 schedule next year with games against Penn State and Western Kentucky as our FBS games....and we have an OOC against Butler (not the best game but best we could do on short notice)

I've been using that site a lot...it really is a great tool to use.

FWIW, UNI is 15th in the nation in total offense.

Illinois State may have a high scoring offense, but I don't think they are any better than any other teams in the league...other than maybe the 2 DSU's.

I'd give your team a whole lot more credit for 2 wins over MEAC/OVC/SWAC/PFL/PL teams than D2 and NAIA.

It's nice to see Indiana State finally start to show some dedication to the football program....or any program for that matter

I don't know what you are implying in that final sentence but we have made a great dedication to all programs over the past 4 years of Ron Prettyman hiring and now with President Dan Bradley funneling money into athletic department...So in conclusion redefine that last sentence...

and 83rd in scoring offense. ouch. talk about redzone-phobia (and turnoverphilia).

That 68 place differential between Scoring Offense rank and Total Offense rank is second only to Tennessee-Martin in the FCS (3rd place goes to Yale with a 51 difference).

And since I have the spreadsheet set up, I went ahead and calculated out how many offensive yards each team has gained per point scored (total points divided by total yards).

Highest yards-per-point is Tenn-Martin at 24.86 yds/pt
UNI is 4th highest at 21.50 yds/pt
On the other end of the spectrum, Montana requires the least amount of yds/pt, sitting at 10.25.

(again, I'm guessing turnover margin has alot to do with this stat)

So does Montana's defense putting up something like 40 points in their season opener....

Ok, this is something interesting that I have ran across for all of the UNI/SIU people ragging on SDSU for being "very slow"
This is straight from Coach Wolford at YSU.
“I think they’re best-coached team we’ve played, I think they have the best players, I think they’re the most physical, strongest and potentially fastest,” said Wolford.
http://www.vindy.com/news/2010/oct/21/y ... y-of-sdsu/

Don't see how slow we really are if hes saying we are potentially the fastest. Does that mean I think we are faster than UNI? No I think we are slower than them, but I had to post this since thats what SDSU always gets ragged on about. :coffee:

Who has said anything about SDSU's speed on here?

He also said that about the teams they've played so far....they have yet to play UNI

That too.

Typically the week leading up to a game, and the week after the game, the team you played/will be playing are the two best teams you will face this season. They are always 2 of the most physical, well coached teams, in the conference.

True, also I said that UNI is faster. It hasn't been said recently, but after we lost our first couple games before the Nebraska game a couple UNI/SIU fans were saying that last years playoff appearance and wins were luck with no speed, athleticism, or even players who could be considered as athletes on the team. So I just wanted to point this out. And you don't see a coach point out their speed often. They will always say they are well coached, disciplined, yadda yadda, hit hard. Not so often do they mention the speed unless it is a team with some speed on the team. Not saying we are the fastest, just trying to fight the thought that SDSU is just big, fat, and slow.

I don't think SDSU is "slow", but you definitely aren't a speed team.

Truth, and you aren't one of the fans I was referencing to either. You are a fan who gives a team credit if they do well. :thumb:

Not according to some...oh well.

Like I said earlier this week, SDSU is the best 2-4 team in history. That sounds odd, I realize. However, I would put money on SDSU to beat probably 90% of the FCS right now

I sure hope we are and can, cause we need to make a crazy streak of wins to stay in the playoff picture. I think we can though after getting UNI and SIU out of the way.
