Re: Liberty is not a playoff caliber team
Ok Im as big a fan of LU as anybody (and probably seen more LU games than many of the young bucks around here), but I would at this point see a change at the assistants before making a change at the top. I made my points on the LU message board so Im not going to just repeat them here...LU is missing a LOT of fundamental things that really need to be addressed by the assistants who should notice them just as much as the players do in film study. Im not saying that Coach Rocco isnt at fault in some way, but I dont think that 100% of the blame needs to be unloaded on him.

If you read, it says "Teams that win big games"Knucklehead wrote:Doesn't it say on the rt you are a fan of. Not liberty?
And AKA, Not Liberty.
It's me taking a jab at the program by saying they don't win the games they need to win (and they don't).
If you want to take it literally and say I'm not a fan, go ahead. It wouldn't be the first or last time you cried that I wasn't a true fan. Sorry, I took the blinders off and don't gaze daily and nightly upon the Golden Rocco and praise his works and his splendor.

Meh...y'all are fine. It's tough to go undefeated in conference play in any conference in any sport. Plus Liberty will finish at home where you're undefeated so far. I'm not sure what the playoff implications are right now in the Big South, but I don't think losing to a decent Coastal Carolina team means Liberty isn't playoff-caliber.

Who hires and maintains the assistants?bjtheflamesfan wrote:Ok Im as big a fan of LU as anybody (and probably seen more LU games than many of the young bucks around here), but I would at this point see a change at the assistants before making a change at the top. Who's the common denominator between our 2007 losses due to teams passing over the middle and having a decent run game and our 2010 losses due to teams passing over the middle and having a decent run game. Danny Rocco as head coach, a defensive minded coach, who brought his scheme, his 3-4, to Liberty.
If things were sorted and fixed a while back, or showed ANY sign of improvement, then that's one thing. It's on Rocco now, make some changes or get out of the way.
