Sorry you are wrong. No team can play a conference team in their first game. Hence conference teams cannot meet in the round of 16.

Cool. I wasn't sure if that had changed with the playoff expansion.

So if GSU is in one of the play-in games we won't have to play App. State if we win?

Pretty sure that the rule is that conference teams cannot play each other if it is BOTH teams' first game. So, there could be a conference matchup in the Round of 16 between a Top 4 seed and a team from the same conference that had to play on the first weekend. Could be wrong though, but that's what I recall reading.

Nope. They way they wrote the rules states no team can play a conference mate the 1st game they play in the playoffs. So next Saturdays games can't feed into a bracket where a conference mate has received a bye. GSU qualifies to play a conference mate but App State would not.

Because UD has 2 I-AA losses to ASU's 1.

Have no idea how it will pan out seed wise, but looking at I-AA records from CAA, Southern, MVFC, Southland, and Big Sky:

One I-AA loss:
ASU 9-1 (Southern AQ)
MTST 8-1 (I-A loss, Div II win, beat EWU, Big Sky AQ)
EWU 8-1 (I-A loss, Div II win, lost MTST)
JSU 8-1 + BCS win (beat SEMO, OV AQ)
SEMO 8-1 (I-A loss, Div II win, lost JSU)
SFA 8-1 (I-A loss, non Div I win (is Lamar a counter?)
Wofford 8-1 (I-A loss, Div II win, lost ASU)

2 I-AA loss:
W&M 8-2 (beat UD, CAA AQ)
UD 8-2 (lost W&M)

After giving it a little thought:

1. ASU 9-2 Socon Autobid
2. MSU 9-2 Big Sky Autobid
3. Delaware 9-2 CAA at large
4. EWU 9-2 Big Sky at large

The top 3 could almost be seeded in any order, I'm giving ASU and MSU the edge because they earned their conferences autobids.

The seeding committee doesn't use the rankings. If sportswriters want to vote EWU #1 enjoy it. It has no bearing on where EWU will be seeded, which is what really counts.

How would UD be ahead of W&M?

-Both are 8-2 vs I-AA/6-2 CAA
-W&M won head to head and CAA AQ.

UD's Div II win over WCU and W&M's loss @ UNC are irrelevant.

I don't think W&M's loss is irrelevant, it's a D-I game. W&M may not get penalized as much for losing it, but the loss will be counted none the less.

You may be right though, W&M may get seeded ahead of UD.

W&M will get seeded ahead of UD. Same with Montana State and EWU. William and Mary and Montana State are the autobids.

Here's how I'd have the seeds:
1. Montana State
2. App State
3. Jacksonville State
4. William and Mary
5. EWU

Autobids are not automatically seeded higher than atlarge bids from the same conference.

W&M may very well be the highest seeded CAA team (in fact you guys have convinced me that they probably will be) but I wouldn't bet my house on it.

Either way, it doesn't matter. Coaches, sportswriters, martians...they aren't the ones that do the seeding, and it's the seeding that matters.

Looking at MTSt losses, by 1 pt to Washington St who went 1-9 in their other 10 games so far, and 34-7 to 6-5 NAU, I'd go with ASU as the top seed. But really, there is no difference between 1 and 2, as they both have homefield throughout.

Now that JSU just wet the bed vs Tenn Tech,
1. ASU
2. MT St
3. W&M
4. EWU
5. UD

The comittee might put W&M & UD at 4 & 5 for regionalization & so could have a rematch in the Qtr finals.

No. App got completely handled today.

As much as I wanted to see them do well (to gauge UM vs UT next year), they got their asses handed to them.

They should drop because they showed no ability to stop a sub par SEC team (that of course is what the ASU fans were saying before the game).

3. MSU
4. Wofford
5. UD

Ah what the hell, make the two Big Sky teams 1 and 2. It's not like they'll still be there to host in the semis anyway. :kisswink:
