I posted the one they played in at the time of their championship. :coffee:

Exactly, CAS ain't the best, but come on now, at least we fill the seats on average, and for bigs games have about 75% more people squeezed in there that Roos ever has. :thumb:

Perhaps it's because that red turf is growing on me like a debilitating plague that's clouding my judgment, but SDSU's field looks like any other slightly larger high school-ish stadium. I wouldn't have known it was SDSU's unless someone told me. :?
That's because it is a high school stadium. Brookings High calls that stadium home as well.

Here are the rough drafts, hopefully we will see better plans after the BoR meeting April 1st.

If that new stadium plan goes through for SDSU, it would be a HUGE improvement :thumb:
But in the debate, I would say it's too close to call. The red field is blinding, but the field at CAS is ****
The stands are pretty equal by the looks of them.

Record crowd at Roos is 12kish......CAS has a capacity of 16k, so your math doesn't really add up.

FWIW, I think it's a decent venue. Just thought it was kinda funny that you referred to our place as High Schoolish when CAS really isn't any better, if at all. More capacity, yeah, but other than the Video board there isn't really anything that sticks out that would make it a "better" venue.

The biggest thing that sticks out in my mind is the press box. If they replaced that, I think it would do a lot for the aesthetics of the place. That, and put in Sprinturf, and I'm not sure why an entirely new venue is needed? Is the place that old?

I changed my vote. I hate the red turf. Absolutely hate it. But the "stadium" itself is better than CAS.

There is actually only about 10,000 seats in CAS, and the rest is SRO, so I guess I counted only the seats as the capacity, because otherwise there is no other way to really know the capacity at all due to the fact that they will just keep stuffing bodies into the stadium. But, you are correct and my math was off.

And CAS is that old. Its starting to get to the point where they are going to have to start to check it every year to make sure its in good repair, and when you figure in the fact that our average attendance (which was down from the year before, due to the home conf slate) is higher than the amount of seats in the stadium, its getting to be time. That and I personally know of a lot of people who don't go to games because they won't get seats and don't want to stand, or don't want to be caught in the back of the crowd of SOR where you can't see much. And our away bleachers are just god awful.

Oh, and I called Roos a high school field to ruffle BF's feathers, ya think it worked? :kisswink:

Actually we only have seating for 10,000, so we've been at 100%+ seating capacity for a couple years now.
One other thing people are forgetting that is not in the picture at the beginning of the thread, is that we have a brand new,as of last season, endzone facility. I don't know if EWU has a facility of the nature of ours.

Really? Even with the voting going strongly the other way? I can't imagine somebody would pick one as the better stadium, but pick the other as the one they'd choose to go.

From only being able to go on photos, the stands seem to be a push. Green field > Red field and No track >> track.

Break it down....

Box's - +EWU
Stands - +EWU (looks more natural to its environment, at least in the pics)
Avg. attendance - +SDSU
Capacity - +SDSU
Tailgate atmosphere - +SDSU / +EWU (as long as fans are happy with there own, then its a wash here)
Game atmosphere - +SDSU (at least from what little I know)
Endzone seating - +EWU (at least temp bleachers are something)
No track - +SDSU
Carpet - +EWU (I'm not a fan of the color, but the turf is new and nice and some people do like it  )
Scoreboard - +SDSU
Parking - +EWU (looks like a complicated matter in Brookings)
Lights - +EWU / +SDSU
Seat quality - +EWU (SDSU doesn't appear to have any chairback seats yet)
Released expansion plans - +SDSU
State - +EWU (Yes I have been to both, although I have spent more time in Wa, so still a bias :thumb: )
City(town/village/whatever) - +SDSU / +EWU (If EWU played in Spokane they would take the cake here)
Facilities (restrooms / food / etc) - ?
More ?

Totals....
EWU - 10
SDSU - 9

So I am going with EWU on this vote.

red field or not, the presence of a track automatically makes roos field inferior to any stadium without a track, including SDSU.

We have temporary seating in the scoreboard endzone, the other endzone has a hospitality room & balcony for big time donors, recruits and special guests off of the endzone facility.

The season ticket holders have chairback seats.

Yep, the North end zone is actually pretty decent. It's the south end zone that has the temporary bleachers. They need to mirror the south end zone with the north.

CAS is a great stadium. Ive been there many times. Its one of my favorite stadiums and Im looking forward to visiting again this year. I liked the less formal tailgating of the old days and I used to like walking the sidelines with the ball. Its more formal now and its a better set-up for expansion/improvement than NDSU has with the Fabulous Fargo Dome.

PS. They have a great hot dog too.
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

Wow, this offseason has months & months to go and we already have resorted to what high school-ish stadium looks better thread. Ugh.

And for the record, this one is a push. It only reminds me that if a school can win a national championship playing in that bandbox then a FCS Championship is losing a little of its luster.
